First Car
I purchased this as my first car and it's fantastic. The 5-speed was one of it's major selling points for me but the excellent quality and safety record were important to my parents. I have had no problems with this car thus far, even with 85k miles on it. The car isn't blazingly fast but the 5-speed makes it fun to drive anyway. I agree that it needs more power though, if the engine is under 3500 rpm, good luck moving with any ounce of agility. The only other downfall is the goofy auto-window switch placement. It's right on the dash; hard to get used to. Overall the car is excellent and very roomy, even for my 6'5" body and my equally large friends. Kudos to Honda for the large backseat.
A solid compact SUV!
Well-built, solid, small-size SUV. The reliability is great (what you expect from Honda), have owned for 3 years, not one problem. The AWD is great in bad weather conditions. Cargo area is spacious, a good car for longer trips, as well as, carting the family around town. The fuel economy is good as well. Only shortcoming is four cylinder engine's horsepower, it's adequate, but engine struggles in passing situations and up steep hills. I believe Honda has improved this in later models

I love my CRV!!!
My CRV has been in the family it’s whole life. My grandparents bought it new from the dealership and it, Bessie, drove like beautifully up until 2015 when her transmission gave us trouble. She’s named Bessie because she’s stubern like a cow with the wonky transmission. But at that point she had just hit 250,000 miles and that was the only thing wrong. The people who rebuilt the transmission did a bad job, so it’s been rebuilt since and now needs a new transmission at 303,000 miles. That’s truly the only thing wrong with Bessie besides normal things that wear out!y CRV has been super reliable going to and from school, church, work, and home. She’s also been victim to some hit and runs and has been drivable but legally totaled for years. Still love her and I would fix her if I could! SUPER RELIABLE!!! Lasts forever and worth the repairs!!! She’s going to retire now, but I recommend her brothers and sisters and cousins!

PIECE OF CRAP HONDA
I bought the car 3 years ago with a good review on Car Fax. I paid $4k for it & have probably put that much into it. Timing belt broke causing piston ? damage. Replaced water pump, fuel filter, blown head gasket, timing belt twice. I have a whole folder of receipts. I thought Honda's were more reliable than this one. It had only 120k miles on it at purchase, now about 160k. I'll be looking to replace it soon with a Nissan or Kia Oh it's a 2000

Dependable, Fun SUV
Purchased new May of 2000 to replace a 1987 Civic w/235,000 miles. It's been dependable and fun to drive. Will give it to my 17 yr old son next year and get a Honda Ridgeline.
