2020 Honda Civic Sport Touring 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)

I have purchased many fun cars in the past but haven’t seen many lately that are reasonably priced. Until now. I’m the happy owner of a 2020 Civic Hatchback EX. It’s solid, quality built and just plain fun to drive. In addition it doesn’t look like anything else on the road. Great overall package and 35 mpg on average doesn’t hurt either. I love the turbo, no problem getting on the freeway. Pure driving fun! After 9 months of driving I’m still impressed and it’s still fun to drive.

My little space ship...

I just turned 70 & when I told my friends that I was thinking of a Honda Civic, one response was:"CIVIC??!! That's what people get their kids when they graduate college!" NOT!! Well, they almost shamed me into getting the accord..Paper work was done & ready for a signature but I couldn't take my eyes off the Civic EX in the showroom..white with tan interior & side body moldings, which added so much to the car..it was beautiful & so sporty looking .. Long story short...we ripped up the paper work on the accord & I bought the Civic & haven't been happier.. It drives like a dream & the turbo engine really puts "umph" in the drive.. The control panel has everything at your finger tips.. The ACC cruise control, auto high beams, assisted lane, etc...it's just wonderful.. If you want a really sporty looking & handling car, don't look any where else.. Do I have to say I love this car???

The 2020 a Honda Civic proved to be a really good value. The styling though a bit over done is still fresh, the standard fearures available at its price and the roomy midsize level interior along with a nice size trunk made it promising on first glance. But what made me purchase this vehicle is when i test drive the vehicle. I test drove the Civic Sport with 2.0 liter engine. I was impressed at how the CVT transmission and the engine performed together along with the quick and sporty handling. And that it was decently equipped at its price. I ultimately went for the Civic EX-T for that 1.5 liter turbo engine, sunroof, and power seats along with the 8 speaker stereo system. That engine is more fuel efficient and effortless to get up to speed compared to the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine in the sport though the 2.0 liter still performed admirably. The 1.5T also was more quiet and refined compared to the 2.0 engine which sounded very coarse and noisy. Where the Civic wasn’t so impressive were just a few areas. The interior seemed not so high quality. It’s is stylish and still looks fresh for a car that came out in 2016. The interior fit and finish looks great and there is injected molded plastics on the dash and for panels for soft touch quality feel but the rear seat compartment is just hard touch plastic everywhere. Also the glove compartment cheaply falls upon opening. I wish it had damping cords to prevent that. There is a lot of road noise as well. While driving around town it’s not too bad but getting on the turnpike, you can hear the tires howl and when road textures change, noise infiltrates the interior significantly. Coming from a Chevy Cruze, that car’s interior was very quiet compared to this Civic. However with the stereo system On, you forget about the road noise obviously. Honda Link infotainment is nice and customizable but the interface seams laggy and out dated. The availability of android auto and Apple CarPlay made up for those minor downfalls. Lastly the tire pressure monitor system is disappointing. I picked up a nail and the system did alert me about a tire losing pressure but did not specifically tell me which tire, I had to figure it out with the a tire pressure gage to find the tire with the slow leak. GM’s TPMS system is far more intelligent and I hope that Honda improves in this department. Also no blind spot monitoring. The lane watch camera is cool but when merging into a left lane I notice there isn’t any blind spot monitoring. However the lane watch makes up for not having blind spot monitoring. Otherwise a lot of safety tech is on board and works very well Overall I do enjoy this vehicle and have no regrets on my purchase. It is also fast turning me into a Honda fan when I have shunned the brand prior for other reasons. All the standard features and safety tech on board along with fuel efficiency and practicality and strong performance for its class makes this car hard to ignore. I highly recommend this vehicle so far. Update: so far still enjoying my purchase of the Civic. Though the 2022 Civic is looking enticing, this 10th generation I purchased is still satisfying and fun to drive. And so far reliable. No mechanical hiccups to mention as of yet. However I did receive a product advisory from Honda. Due a faulty air conditioning condenser, the part has been extended to 10 years under warranty. If I keep the car that long then I am covered. Lastly the infotainment system is the Achilles heel if the Civic. Very glitchy compared to others and laggy..I wish Honda could update and change the user interface layout. Otherwise no complaints. So far I am still happy with my purchase and continue to enjoy every drive

More than enough Fun!

2020 Honda Civic Si 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)

Bought this car because I wanted something that was more fun than my over powered German car, that I could not fully utilize its potential for more than 10 seconds before being in the "Go Directly To Jail" part of the speedometer. The 2020 Civic Si is light, has immediate response, handles extremely well and has more than enough power for a daily driver. This car can also get you into trouble in no time at all, if you are just listening to the rev's as you go though the gears in its excellent manual gearbox. Nice surprises: Electronics. Honda is doing a great job at including many driver aides and electronic conveniences as standard equipment. Better part yet is in a car of this type, fairly easy to turnoff the electronic nannies when you don't want them, and when you do, just as easy to turn them on. I was concerned with how hard the ride would be with the very low profile tires. The active dampers appear to work great, as the ride is a lot smoother than what I expected. Rear seat leg room is also plentiful. Only item I wish it had, rear cross traffic alert. NOTE: Review is for an Si Sedan, not Coupe ( Sedan not listed in the drop down menus)

I recently leased my first 2020 Civic Ex-L and I'm amazed with how much power the 1.5 turbo has and the mpg rating it gets. The car drives like a dream and feels roomy on the inside. The leather seats are insanely comfortable. I could not be happier!! 10/10 recommend test driving one and seriously considering it!

I Love My Si

Joel Kidwell, 03/19/2020
2020 Honda Civic Si 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
14 of 15 people found this review helpful

I love my 2020 Civic Si, and for the first time ever after a new car purchase, I've experienced no buyer's remorse. The dark grey color is perfect with the black wheels, and it coordinates with the red accents very well. Out front, the new-for-2020 LED turn signals, headlights, high-beams, and fog lights are simply great. The new body accents and revisions are great, too. DRIVING - "Grandma Mode": With the new for 2020 additions of Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Mitigation, High Beam Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control, this car excels at drama-free highway cruising. Despite an EPA rating of 36, I've repeatedly gotten as high as 42 mpg. Road noise is acceptable and not too intrusive. The shorter 6th gear, which is also new for 2020, helps the adaptive cruise control respond quickly without having to downshift, unless you want to... DRIVING - The Si Side: Even in "Normal" mode, if you put your foot down, this car wants more. Then, engaging the "Sport Mode" button makes the dash look awesome via red lighting, tightens the steering, and firms up the suspension via real adaptive dampers to make it even better. Firm. Planted. Deep-smile-inducing. Fast. Fun! Also: The new safety aids are adjustable in the car’s software, and traction control, lane departure mitigation, and forward collision mitigation can all be turned off via dash buttons. SAVE THE MANUALS! The manual gearbox is a very good transmission. Honda has always made one gear a broad acceleration gear. In the 5-speed days, that was usually 2nd. Here, it’s 3rd, and it’s wonderfully-tuned to pull and pull to the redline using everything the 1.5T with 205 hp and 192 ft-lbs of torque has to offer. COMFORT: The cloth seats, updated for 2020 with red accents, are nicely bolstered and firm, but still comfortable for long drives. The red-stitched leather steering wheel is beefy and feels very good in the hands. The billet, leather-wrapped gear shift knob is very good looking and is likewise driver-oriented. However, the shift knob’s metal heart holds ambient temperature. On some mornings it’s been too cold to handle without gloves, and I have it on good authority that it’ll do the same with heat in the summer. The automatic climate control works quietly and well, and the three-level heated seats work nicely. The configurable & deep center console is quite functional. Both visors have covered and illuminated vanity mirrors, and they slide back when pivoted over the side windows. All of the control buttons in the front are also pleasingly illuminated at night. While I wish that Honda had carried the front doors’ well-placed soft touches to the back, the seats are comfortable, the center armrest with cupholder is nice, and the dome light cannot be seen in the rear-view mirror if passengers need it at night. SOUND SYSTEM: The 10 speaker, 450 watt sound system has plenty of power, and the automatic speed volume adjustment works well. The subwoofer sustains music well while adding punch. DISAPPOINTMENTS: My only four knocks are 1.) No blind-spot monitoring / rear cross traffic alert / reverse sensing, 2.) No rear seat charging ports, 3.) No LED turn signals on the outside rearview mirrors (Honda has all of three of these in the parts bins and should have them on the Civic Si, especially when comparing it to a Corolla XSE or Mazda 3 - I would have gladly paid more for all of them), and, 4.) Canadian models also get rain-sensing wipers, and since this car is made in Canada… I’d like to have those, too. UPGRADES: My Si Sedan came from Honda in “Modern Steel Metallic” (dark grey) with All-Season-Tires. My dealer-installed accessories are: All-Season Floor Mats, a Trunk Liner, Splash Guards, Console Illumination, Leather Arm Rest with Illumination, Footwell Illumination, Illuminated Door Still Plates, Puddle Lights, Rear Bumper Protector, and Automatic-Dimming Rearview Mirror with HomeLink. With all of the after-market items available, this car is also a tuner’s dream laboratory, but I’m not likely to do much else except for the nice, and appropriately red-accented, K & N "Typhoon" cold air intake. Your interests may vary, and you can spend a lot of time and money making a Civic Si uniquely yours. CONCLUSION: I’m quite happy with my 2020 Honda Civic Si Sedan. When the 10th generation Si first showed up in 2017, it was lacking. Those big, black fields of false vents were just too much to handle, and the halogen headlights were a big letdown. This mid-cycle refresh corrects all of that and more. You can just tell that Honda loves this car. So if you’re on the fence about the 2020 Civic Si - look again at the price - look again at the features - trust my and others’ reviews on what it can do - and just get it. I think you’ll be glad you did.

I love this car! It has so many bells & whistles from Apple CarPlay to Lane departure warnings. I am a gadget person & this car is not a let down. This year has the larger engine - you can feel the added power. I love the upgraded rims & all the black trim which my 2017 model didn’t have. Also has the Kane keeping assist system - steering wheel will steer & vibrate when you leave your lane without blinker on. With cruise control on it will allow you to set the distance to maintain between you & car in front of you - and will stop if you get too close. Very comfortable car and it looks great!

I love my new civic except that sometimes the windows roll down by themselves at night. I've been told the fob is sensitive when it's in a pocket or bag. So where do I keep the keys. Also, at night my keys are hanging on the wall. I live in Canada, we have weather, this is going to create a lot of damage to the car. Why is there a feature on the fob that lowers the windows?

I owed an 1999 Civic Coupe, but after I got rid of it, I was underwhelmed (as was Edmunds) with the Civic body style for many years and decided not to buy one again. I instead went with the Honda Fit (2 of them in a row) primarily because of the awesome trunk space and youthful look. When I was in the market for a new car, I was going to go with another Fit... until I saw the 2020 Civic Hatchback. This is a great, sporty looking car, and it had the trunk space I refused to part with. It has way more features than one would expect for a car of that price (it seems like they thought of everything, and things I didn't even know I was missing out on). People I know who are into fast, luxury cars were really impressed and surprised by it. The things I noticed (and appreciated) immediately was the peppy acceleration, the auto dimming rear view mirror, the reduced road noise, the Apple Car Play, and the well designed center console. I haven't even explored all the features yet. So far, I really only have two negative comments. One was that it was almost impossible to find the hatchback in a EX-L trim (for whatever reason), and the other is that Honda decided to use shiny black plastic on all the exterior trim, which showed scratches, even when coming right off the lot brand new. I wish they had kept the matte finish on the trim. Overall, super happy with this purchase!

Good pricepoint. Manual transmission ONLY on this model. FAST. Handles well. Hugs the road. No lateral movement on hairy turns. Looks great. If you are looking for a daily driver that also can be raced and is fun, this is one of them. Next level up is a Mustang 5.0 manual, then a Porsche 911. The mustang is twice as much, and the porsche is 5x as much as the Honda in price. If you plan on driving a stick for sport, start with this one and work your way up.

Smooth ride, comfortable interior, decent sound system, great AC system, awesome digital display system, great safety features, and useful additional features (brake hold and smart cruise control technology). This is just the base LX model and I feel like I’m driving a spaceship (in a good way). It only took me one hour of driving to learn all the features due to the ease of use. Click a button and the car will make sure you stay in your lane. Click another and the car will cruise control while matching the speed of the car in front of you, keeping a comfortable distance. One more and the car will stay stopped when you bring it down to 0 mph. No need to hold your foot on the brake. Also, the lease program is quite affordable. I got a better deal on this than they offered on a Honda Fit (which comes with way less features). I am excited for my daily commute in this car!

2020 Honda Civic Sport Sedan

My 2016 Civic Coupe Touring was totalled and just purchased a 2020 Civic Sport Sedan. Its a bit of a downgrade compared from the top of the line Touring that Im used to, but I’m loving it so far and as always, fun to drive! However, just a few bones to pick with Honda, you would they could afford to put some small little cheap light bulbs in the visors or a moonroof for a Sport trim that comes standard with a Corolla Sport! With that said, I love the vehicle, I will do some simple mods like getting LED headlights, front lip, side skirts, and smoke out the tail lights. But after a year, will upgrade to an SI trim! #teamhonda #lightsonvisorsforthesport

Improved to perfection Si

I have traded in my 2 door 2017 Si with a 2020 2 door Si few days ago. I am very happy with the new model. There are various small/subtle improvements which add up to create a 2020 Si model improved to perfection. - The traction and drive is much better tuned, reminding the 2013 model-2.0 engine performance, in spite of the 1.5 lt (turbo) engine, keeping the gas mileage great. - The safety features are great, lane departure, automatic braking and adaptive cruise control. Sometimes I feel the car "meddles" with my driving, but this is all for the better. - The look is much better, with subtle tweaks to detailing and accents. The 2017 model was too stuffy for my taste. - The wheels look much nicer, and the accompanying tires perform more solidly - The instrument panel has improved with the volume button and the climate fan buttons which were obviously needed. - The car is generally more silent than 2017 - The door tensions are adjusted so that they don't close unexpectedly while getting out. - The seats are more comfortable - The LED headlights are fantastic. Great features, quality and value for the price!

If you need a car with four doors, a peppy engine, nimble handling and driveably in the worst LA traffic, the Honda Civic SI sedan is for you! It's great value for the price and offers a great range of features like a peppy engine, manual transmission with LSD, a sporty interior and great cruise control features (like lane departure mitigation and adaptive cruise control). Definite winner for those enthusiast that want a fun daily driver!

I have a ‘20 Sport and I’m in love with it. It’s quick, it’s gorgeous and comes with amenities most others don’t offer standard at all. I can’t say enough good things about it.

Fun little rocket ship

We bought our 2-door Si in June, 2020. It has been a great addition to our ‘fleet’. My wife and I find reasons to drive it just to ‘take a ride’. My two driving-age children have some intimidation driving a manual transmission, which I will help them overcome. This transmission is one of the easiest to use/learn. The technology takes a bit of learning, but now that I know, it is easy to work with. Example- the auto high/low beam doesn’t kick in until 25mph. The Lane Keep Assist doesn’t kick in until 45mph. The impact warning.. not sure when it kicks in, have had a couple head scratcher warnings (approaching a narrow overpass for example). But in the end, it is technology-filled. I’m not sure if my wife has experienced the turbo boost, but I do whenever I drive it. But this is what is great about this car- I can put it in Sport mode and experience the exhilarating road-gripping rocket ship, and she can drive around town barely getting over 2500rpm, and both leave the driving experience very satisfied. The trunk is bigger than it looks, even with the seats remaining upright. I stored a set of golf clubs, push cart, shoe bags and dozens of golf balls and other equipment, with plenty of room to spare. The back seat is comfortable for shorter folks, but my 6’ frame would end up with a stiff neck from the headroom. Front seats are more than adequately adjustable. The sport seats seem to envelope the driver and front seat passenger. Storage in the cabin is OK, but gets a little tight with two drinks in the center console. Overall we LOVE this car. It serves the need of multiple drivers, and I hope to get my two kids to fall in love with driving a manual vehicle as well.

TO MANY PROBLEMS FOR NEW CAR

At 40,000 miles windshield wiper motor completely quit. Driver window makes loud popping noise when rolling down. Beautiful car sad to say had less problems with my 2010 accord than my 2020 civic and I had it for 6 years and only had this car for 3 months. Very disappointed with so many problems with brand new car.

I moved over from a Mini Cooper S to Civic Touring Edition. The Mini Cooper was fun to drive, but it was just starting to get expensive to own. This Civic has a lot of the bells and whistles I was looking for. The CVO transmission feels a bit lazy to me, so I am very thankful for the paddle shifters. I am averaging 36-37 mpg on regular gas, where the Mini averaged 33 on premium gas. I lost a bit of power switching to the Civic, but I am happy, hoping that I once again have that Honda reliability.

As soon as the Hatchback came out in 2017, I knew I wanted it. I bought myself a 2020 Civic Hatch EX-L. The EX-L has a ton of good features, but I would have appreciated having integrated nav they had a year or so back, but alas CarPlay works well. The powertrain is great. I was very skeptical towards CVTs when my father had a 2012 Insight that was awful as far as powertrain went. I was worried about having enough power to climb mountain grades, but it does very well. On a trip to Southern California with the cruise set at about 73-75 with a mountain grade, I was able to achieve 40 mpg with the AC blasting. The infotainment system works well, and I have zero qualms about anything with this vehicle. The Honda Sensing features are a bit sensitive, mostly the collision braking system which has activated before even though my foot was on the brake pedal. Either way, I would rather the car keep me safe, but if you tend to brake a bit close it will ding at you. All around an excellent vehicle and I love driving it!

I picked up a 2020 civic sport in agean blue last spring for my long commute. Fuel economy and reliability were my main concerns. I found my marked down ride in a nearby small town that wanted to get this unsold 2020 off the lot as the 21 models were already on display. I was happy to find the remarkable interior room in the car and the ex options such as remote start, heated seats, power driver seat' sunroof and dual zone climate controls. Performance is adequate handling is awesome steering and braking like a corvette. Passing on a two lane is dangerous as the car is a little slow for top end acceleration. Road noise is quite loud. The sport rims are easy to damage as there is no side wall to rub against the curb only your rims to scratch against the concrete. For some reason the windows tend to fog up easily although the defogger takes care of that quickly. I have never owned a car that would fog up even in the summertime in the morning as this one does. I have buyers regret as the performance is so bad otherwise its a great little car.

My 2020 civic offers an excellent ride, both smooth and quiet. Driving over Colorado mountain passes is quite easy and one won't bog down even over the steepest passes. Gas mileage around town and on the road is beyond good. The car handles like a small sports car. I love to drive my car. The downside is your carplay system. I bought the car three months ago and roughly 6 times it has just stopped worked. One solution is to completely reboot the system which is inconvenient. One time, even after rebooting it refused to acknowledge I was plugged into the USB. After hours of frustration I called a friend and just the act of making a call using Bluetooth made the Carplay active. Good grief. Not exactly user friendly. Using the radio and Bluetooth system is ok but at times quite clumsy and time consuming. It is strange to me that Honda engineered such an amazing car for driving - I give it a solid A - and such a poor infotainment system - _ I would give it a solid D. And yes, I most certainly have talked to the dealership a number of times and they could not help me. Denial? I hope Honda goes back to the drawing board and fixes these problems.

Civic Si is Gobs of Fun for Little $$

3 of 3 people found this review helpful

I owned a Honda Fit for two years before buying this car. It was "peppy" in part because it also was a manual. I test drove two other cars before driving the Civic Si. Within a minute of leaving the car lot, I was giggling and howling with excitement. It is the embodiment of "fun to drive". The throttle response is not super-immediate, but it picks up quickly and pushes you into some very well-bolstered seats quickly. The steering wheel is thick and on the heavy side, but is very direct. Point the wheel where you want to go and it will get there... fast. There is virtually no torque steer. You can sometimes feel the limits of FWD when pulling out of a tight turn at speed, but the action is very undramatic. As far as drivability, the car earns nearly 40 MPG on the highway, has four doors with tons of passenger space and a full-size trunk. My only negative for this car is the premium gas suggestion. It isn't required but does affect performance.

1. The trunk opens when I turn the key in the ignition. The alert has a long lag so I have had to pull over in traffic to slam the trunk closed. Put a key hole back in the trunk lid and get it off the key! Terrible design flaw. 2. The alert for Tire Pressure has such a long lag it didn't light up until my leaking front tire was completely flat. Again, stranded in traffic. Bad sensors. Long Alert lag time. Design flaw. 3. The low, unsupportive driver seat makes my back ache, my hips ache, and my knees hurt. I am average height for an American woman 5'4" and average weight 120. Driving this car is like sitting in a hole. Design flaw.

We traded in our honda crv 2017 LX model for the for the 2020 Civic EX as it loved driving my lease vehicle in another state.battery kept dying on the CRV. It is a dream to drive and iso so smooth and fun! I have some issues though. Once in a while my touch screen for Apple car play disconnects when my phone is charging. One time my back up camera was working and was just a bright yellow. If it happens again i will take my car in. I am not a fan of the blind spot camera when i turn on my right side blinker. The automatic brake system when you are a little close to other cars can be frustrating and sometimes brakes very hard. Makes it safer but ive never had an issue with read ending in this car. At least i know i cant slam into anybody in the front. Overall though i love my stylish interior and out of my civic. Best color would be cosmic metallic blue. ;) it is a super safe car. Highly highly recommend!

Great car!

Civic has a great reputation and long history of quality, value and performance. With a new 16 year old driver in the house we shopped everything and kept coming back to Civic hatchback. New 2022s have been in short supply due to chip shortages and car prices are stupid high, new and used both selling above MSRP. Without a new 2022 to see in person, it became virtual shopping and the 2020 won us based on the 1.5 turbo (not available on 2022 Sport) and the true hatchback styling. Fortunately, we found a like new trade-in with only 18k miles and with 22 months of warranty remaining. 2022 Civic hatchback models look more like the failed Accord Crosstour. Our 2020 Sport Touring has great features and is very comfortable, fun to drive and looks stunning. We paid about $2k more for the Sport Touring than standard Sport models and the extra upgrades are well worth the difference. Better lighting, sunroof, leather, heated seats, upgraded sound system, remote start, body accents, etc. I feel like this will be the in demand used Civic for years to come and will retain its value. Very happy!

Purchased this car for my teenage son. With high safety ratings and key safety features we were looking for this car just made perfect sense. The only safety feature I think is missing is the blind spot detection. Great looking little car with a very sporty appearance. I've noticed a lot of 4 door hatchbacks in my area so the 2 door is a little something different. Low end power leaves a little something to be desired but the top end is very surprising. I didn't buy this as a race car but it is a little sluggish from a stop IMO. Handles curves very well and is fun to drive over curvy mountains. I did some research before buying and these cars hold their value pretty good. All in all we are pleased with this car and I hope to have it for years to come.
