I have thought of making bumper stickers for my Civic but I love it some much I don't want to mar its appearance. I guess I'll have too once I get my HOV sticker. I haven't gotten my registration yet so it will be awhile. Anyway - on with my review. My wife owns a Prius which I have driven so I can nake first hand comparison. Prius hybrid system is slightly better since it can move the car from a stop without the ICE, perfect for traffic jams or congested freeways. The Prius averages 45 MPG so far.The Civic beats the Prius in all other categories. The Prius interior looks cheap by comparison. If you are after the highest MPG car get the Prius, but if you want a fun to drive car get the Civic

the interior is very nice. i was going to purchase the prius until i saw the interior of the civic. it is more refined and the strange center console on the prius bothered me. i really like the exterior styling. my gas mileage has averaged around 48 mpg and i expect it to go up after the break-in period. the navigation system is a must have. i have the silver opal and the color is great. seems to change depending on the time of day. safety features are unprecedented: 6 airbags standard, abs, a.c.e. structure protects during collision, front seat weight and position sensors, active head restraints are all standard.

as hybrids go, this car is the best. the gas mileage is on par with its main competitor, the prius but the styling is much better in my estimation. the ride is smooth and surprisingly powerful. i have a six cylinder mercedes and somehow the super efficient 1.3 liter civic engine with hybrid electric motor assist can easily get up to highway speed quickly. the best however is the interior design. the car feels more normal on the inside than say the prius. the 06 dash is really cool looking and quite functional. standard on the hybrid civic are -get this- 6 airbags! finally, the hybrid civic is built in japan and is very tight and well crafted. i highly recommend this car to anyone.

Driving the Honda Civic Hybrid

Mileage is excellent. I love the way it drives. The no shift (just like a high powered golf cart) transmission. Step on it and away you go. A little scary the first time you make an economy stop and everything goes quiet. This is definitely the best car we have ever owned. I would think a lot more emphasis should be placed on how this car drives.

06 HCH Great For Me

I've had my Civic Hybrid for 3 and half years now and it still feels nearly as tight as when it was new. My mileage is 50-57 in summer and 42-45 in the cold northern winters. It handles great in the turns though fully loaded you can tell the difference. It is a nice smooth and quiet car that driven lightly will get outstanding mileage in town. Two gripes only. The electric power steering doesn't have a good sense of feel or on-center and will drift if twitched even the smallest bit. Winter warm-up of the battery/hybrid system takes way too long and drops the car's mileage a lot in winter. That said, I think it's a great ride that has really taken the pain out of the high gas prices.
