Worst ride for a family sedan - Shameful Honda
Driving over bumps at low speeds is a bit stiff but not an issue. Driving over freeway bumps - more drastic changes of height between two cement sections, like a couple on 241 and 71, is dangerous. Not only the entire car almost catches air, the driver and passengers are launched upwards. I had a 2000 Civic Si and even a 2006 Mustang GT that had a cushier ride. Shameful how bad this last iteration of Accord turned out to be. And reliability is an issue too - Accessory belt broke leaving driver stranded , at just 10000 miles (My old Crown Vic has a service interval of 100000 miles for this belt), and the starter broke at 40000 just beyond the warranty - and according to the dealer this is a common occurrence. The starter replacement requires removal of the intake manifold costing $1200 for parts and labor. It took me a week to get Honda to pay for part of the repair.

car will not start-faulty igniton switch
I am really dissatisfied with my 2014 Honda Accord Sport. It is a nice looking car but totally unreliable. I am the first owner and I decided I needed a new car so I wouldn't have any trouble with repairs are being stranded. A year after my purchase, I noticed that the ignition switch would not engage and start the car. I figured I was "doing" something wrong and tried a couple of times to start the car. My husband brought it into the dealership and they said it was probably the battery (small battery came with car) and that the ignition switch was not the problem and not covered under warranty. The car stranded us and we had the battery replaced. This did not solve the problem. Now it takes me a 5-10 times of trying to start the car. The panel and headlights come on, so does the radio but the car will not start. It has gotten to the point, that I leave my teenager in the car with it running so I don't have to sit there wondering if the car will no longer start. The car refuses to start warm or cold. It is frustrating the heck out of me and Honda Customer Service was of no help. They "apologized" and recommended a new dealer service and then wanted to know if I owned other Hondas. (?) I asked her what does that have to do with my new Honda problems. This will be my last Honda purchase.******After the car refused to start in a supermarket parking lot one Sunday evening, we brought the car in to Honda service department and were "forced" to pay for the replacement of a faulty starter. I argued my point, and they kept referring to their 50K warranty policy even though problem had started 14 months after we had purchased the car and before the mileage. We paid the discounted price and I called the Honda Customer Service line and argued some more, three weeks later I received a full refund for the car repair. I don't like the car, but I'm satisfied that Honda reimbursed for the repairs. *****July 2017, three years later and I hate my car. Brought the car in last year because we noticed the sound of air rushing in the driver's side door was getting very loud. I thought the window was slightly open and I would try to roll up window. Noise still there, The dealer did something to rubber edge in the window housing. A day later the loud rushing sound continued. Disgusted with this problem, and too busy with family matters I put it off for a few more months. When I brought it back to same Honda service department, I was told that there was a small gap between the door and the body of the car and the representative suggested I bring it to a body shop and have them take care of it....he also said maybe the constant opening of the driver door caused the gap since I told him how a gap was possible since the car and never been in an accident. My 2000 Camry is still running and there is no loud rushing air sound. Next car will be a Toyota. I hate my Honda. My co-worker replaced her 2 year old Honda last year because it wouldn't start. She bought a new Honda and her trunk doesn't close. I was told that the trunk is not aligned properly....

Be careful when you are merging.................
10/16/2016 Update: I have now had the car to my dealer 3 times. The last was with the assistance of the factory rep who admitted to just having a similar complaint within the past week. The hesitation/stalling has not improved (since i wrote my first review I have seen this problem described as "stalling" and I thinks it fits). I have reduced my "safety" stars to three because I just don't believe the car is safe. I also reduced the "miles per year" number because I don't drive the car if I don't have to. I have another vehicle. The last comment from my dealership was "whatever it is doing...it is normal for the car". I will trade this car in as soon as I can afford to. First, about the performance. There is something wrong with the acceleration when you have been coasting before merging into traffic. When you try to accelerate either nothing happens or you start to accelerate and then it stalls which is worse because the person behind you thinks you are going to merge and then you don't. My dealer says unless I can demonstrate it they can't help but it doesn't always do it. I've seen other complaints about it but the best my dealer service person would say is that customers have told him if you roll through a stop sign and then hit the gas it hangs up for a bit. Well, it sometimes does the same when you are merging. I almost got rear ended by the guy behind me when it happened the first time. Now I don't merge unless there is a huge gap for me to merge into and I'm worried when I do it. Most of the people who complain feel it is the CVT transmission that is the problem and I agree. I mentioned it to their "lot Mgr." and he said " oh ya...I know what you're talking about...it happens to me all the time when I'm moving cars around the lot" I told the service mgr. to talk to the "lot Mgr" about it but nothing ever came of it. Later, when having the car serviced I found that the "lot Mgr." was no longer there. Now for the head rest. After I bought the car I realized that the head rest was causing me to get a neck ache as it is too far forward. The parts man at my dealership told me he couldn't drive his wife's Accord for the same reason. I tried to find an upholstery person to fix it for me but no one wanted to touch it. I finally I opened it myself and used my wife's carving knife to shave the foam rubber down and stitched it up with mono fishing line. It was a shame to have to do that but Honda (I called Honda customer service) wouldn't help me so I had no choice. At least my dealer parts man tried to help. The head rest was made by two manufacturers so he ordered the other one for me but it was the same. I think he was hoping that would work so he could do the same for his wife's car. By the way, this problem also occurs when parking. If you turn into a parking space and realize you aren't straight enough and have to back out and go forward again, the car may stall and then suddenly surge forward so I don't park where there is a curb or concrete block in front of me for fear I might hit it or worse yet go over it. Now for the tech stuff. The email & texting features don't work. They don't tell you that only certain cell phones will work with the system when you buy the car. I am sorry I purchased this car. I also have a 2008 Honda CRV which is a great car (including the head rest) but it also now comes with a CVT transmission. I won't buy another Honda. Update 4/12/17: I have since realized that the "stalling" is more likely to happen if you are on an incline. It will also do it if you are backing up and then put the car in drive and step on the gas. It sometimes stalls and then lurches forward because it now has fuel in the system that you have applied when the car stalled. I also read a comment from another owner who stated that while applying gas with enough pressure on the brake to allow him to keep the RPM'S up without accelerating he can avoid the stalling. That is what I am doing now when I merge. I'm sure this is not good for the transmission but what else can you do? By the way. I have since traded in my CRV on a Ford Escape. They don't have a CVT transmission. 7/10/17 Update. I am now looking to replace my Accord. IT WILL NOT BE A HONDA! 4/13/18 Update: Even though I am not prepared to get rid of this lemon as yet, I went looking at new cars. I was impressed buy the Subaru until I found out they also have a cvt transmission. I told the salesperson about my problems with the cvt in my Honda. I was referred to the Subaru service mgr. who told me that Subaru & others had a similar problem with their cvt's as well but that there is now a fix for it. I called Honda AGAIN and told them what I had learned. The representative surprised me when he found that there was one for the Honda. I have run out of space & can't complete this update. iT'S TOO BAD AS THE STORY GETS EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS!

Awesome car!
This car is amazing. I've had zero issues with it so far. The only things I've done so far was changed the oil and transmission fluid. Changed tranny at 40k miles. The sound system needs some work but I noticed that any model but the EX-L have a pretty good sound system. The speakers are garbage in every model, but the EX-L absolutely sounds horrible. Bluetooth sounds a little better, but horrible for the money. The engine and transmission have been great so far, no oil consumption (knock on wood). Brakes could use a little work also, but I'm planning on upgrading to a more performance style brake with more "bite." The car is super quiet on the inside and very comfortable. I get a little anxious in the drivers seat because my back and legs get tired. They aren't the most comfortable for long road trips, but driving around town it's perfect. I'm hoping to get at least 200k miles out of the car without any major problems. UPDATE (3/16/21): Not sure when I wrote the first review, but honestly, nothing has changed with car. Currently sitting at 82k miles and have not one issue with the car. Still zero oil consumption, (oil does not move an ounce) among 6k mile oil changes and transmission is excellent condition with fluid changes every 25k miles. I achieved my personal best for MPG at 37.7 mpg along a 300 mile roundtrip ranging between 75 and 80 mph. As for the audio and speakers, they are not bad. The "radio" is pretty bad, but Bluetooth does not sound bad at all. The infotainment system sometimes acts up but it is not bad to live with, as it does not do it all the time and has done it since the car was purchased. Not too sure why there are many complaints on oil consumption with this car as I own two of these vehicles and not one burns oil. Just make a habit to check your oil often before you drive with low oil unnoticed and then complain the car burns oil thereafter. Update (3/17/23) I still have not many complaints with this car. I have 113,000 miles (car still does not burn any oil). I did spark plugs around 90k miles and noticed one of the tube seals was bad. I replaced the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals myself (very easy, anyone can do it with basic knowledge). The timing chain tensioner was very noisy (since I bought the car with 30,000 miles). Found Hondas TSB online and decided to change it. No noise and I did it 30k miles ago. I did notice my rear main seal is starting to leak pretty bad, I have to add about a half quart of oil in 5k miles, but not bad at all. I know this car does not burn oil because the exhaust too stays very clean (no carbon at all). With 113k miles I’m still averaging about 35 mpg. As a reminder, please make sure to check oil regularly. Once it runs low once, will most likely start burning oil after that. With my previous review I’ve stated how important it is. About a decade ago, manufacturers weren’t using low tension piston rings and most people could get by not checking oil. Todays car require it as they use low tension rings. Surprisingly, this car does not burn any even with the mileage. Don’t let it run low, EVER!

Lesson learned over 10 years, buy Honda.
Hit 11K today after a 620 mile round trip. MPG is well better than stated, I get 34 highway driving it like I stole it. I'm just SO happy with this car. It's smooth, fast, comfortable, full of the latest tech, reliable and affordable. All I've done is put gas in it and change the oil around 8K (there's an oil life guage that tells you when to change it, I change early. Amazing. It took 10 years to learn the lesson to stick w/Honda after my 2004 that was bullet proof. I replaced a 13 Altima, bought back under lemon law due to numerous problems, largest being dropped the transmission twice within 7k miles. The Lord works in mysterious ways, got enough $ to upgrade to the V6. Love my Honda!
