No more warm and fuzzies
2001 Accord isn't up to snuff. Transmission problem after 64000 miles. Dealer says bad transmissions in 2000, 2001, and 2002 models. Warranty extended because of the problem. Remanufactured tranny put in yesterday, only to arrive at dealer for pick up to be told the "new" tranny is faulty too. Told 1 out of 6 Honda transmissions fail. Also had problem with oil pan recall. Needed breaks at 55,000, other repairs too soon in the life of the car. Could have bought a clunker with no loan and brought it for in for same amount of repairs. I've lost the warm and fuzzies I had for Honda and my Accord specifically.
Probably Best Looking accord, but otherwise mediocre.
I'm not going to talk about reliability, because that is assumed, demanded and granted for this brand of car. A/C motor is weak, My kid's R/C car has more power!!! Battery cables suck, they corrode like nobodys business, even if you put those inexpensive greasy, fuzzy red and green washers on the terminals. Front seats give you back pain, butt pain, and are incahoots with an unforgiving suspension. Seats on my 5th gen. '96 EX accord were much better. I have no idea what all these other reviewers are yapping about, but fuel economy is DEPLORABLE!!! Dealer replaced the transmission under warranty, but you wouldn't even expect Hondas' design team to screw it up! Just knocking on wood now!
Bad transmission
I have had the Honda Accord 3.0 L V6 sedan for 9 years and I drive it only to work with a mileage of 90,000. The transmission failed but otherwise it looks like brand new with regular maintenance. Fixing the transmission costs $4,100 at the dealer's and after 7 years is no longer covered by warranty. I though that I bought a reliable car that will drive up to 150,000 miles but not so! I will never ever buy Honda again.
my accord
I bought this car through Autoweb. I got what I wanted: a car that I don't have to think about, carries 4 adults, and enough options to keep my mind occupied. The only things I don't like are the gas mileage 19 mpg average, but 25 on long trips, and there's a sqeak in the passenger door that drives me crazy.
Updated review after my first year
I have had this Accord for a little over a year, got it with 95k and today 07/14/2010 it has 111,895 miles. It needed a lot of maintenance to get it to the condition i have it at right now. I have replaced the timing belt/water pump, tires, battery, transmission fluid, front and rear brakes, spark plugs, and last week my rear main seal failed and it leaked about half a quart of oil in 2 weeks. It was an unexpected, not to mention early failure so if anyone else had that same problem let me know cause it was an expensive repair.I am happy that my automatic transmission is fine and overall, i am quite please with the car and plan to keep him for a while.
