Used 1999 Honda Accord Consumer Reviews
Sa-Weet!
Just let go of our 99 Accord EX V6 black/black coupe for an 04 black/black Acuras TSX. I can only hope that the Acura now lives up to the departed Accord. The Accord was a blast! Always got looks, always delivered smooth and fast performance, never any troubles, etc. It hasn't travelled far, we sold it to a family member, so I'm sure we will see it for at least several more years.
Excellent Car
Never had a problem with my 1999 Accord EX. This car is very quick. I never have to worry about merging or getting over, because I can pass just about anything else on the road. Excellent car!
Unhappy Honda Owner
I have driven it 63000 miles and I hate the car. The seat is uncomfortable and the emergency brake jabs into my leg. The cabin is noisy and you feel every bump in the road. The accelleration is slow. The car gets only 24mpg hwy. The ignition has been replaced twice. The car stalls nearly everytime I start it and the dealer cant fix it. The visor broke so it slides freely when I brake hard or turn. The cupholder is too large and un-adjustable. The power windows jam. I have owned an Escort, a Sentra, a Protege and a Regal, and each of them was better than this Accord.
three problems with the new cars
Three problems with Honda Accord: 1) The car jitters when the driver wants to accelerate after slowing down for a turn or for a stop sign. It is very uncomfortable and it is dangerous, e.g., when one wants to make a left turn and the car does not accelerate smoothly and promptly. 2) Banging noise when one starts the engine. These two problems occur in every new Honda Accord of 1998-2001 years. Honda can do nothing about them. 3) The engine stalls due to ignition switch prematurely worn out. It is dangerous since if your engine stalls while driving in traffic, you are at risk of being hit. Honda has recalled its 1997-99 Accord for repairing this defect.
Great little [non-permissible content removed]
Overall experience is good. Pretty much everything about the car is ok. Auto transmission is my only gripe. Honda makes weak and clunky auto transmissions. Always buy the manual if you can. Much better. If it's below say 60 degrees and you crank and drive your car like a minute after cranking, the transmission will stick in first gear and you either have to let off the gas right before the shift and let the transmission shift itself, or kick the gas to force it into second. After the trans is warmed up it will shift smoothly, however. Had an issue with sunroof leaking and this car is so old and worn out now I just flex sealed it shut cause I just wanted water to stop coming into my car. Have an issue with water in the trunk as well. The water would continuously build up in the trunk around the spare tire. Pretty annoying, considering drilling a hole for it to drain out. My main thing is it won't die. I am tired of looking at it. The seats don't have the proper back support and are pretty uncomfortable and my suspension is worn to hell and it burns oil and it WON'T DIE. If that doesn't say something about Honda reliability I dunno what will. Haven't spent much on repairs since I've had it either. Just basic stuff like tires, motor mounts, oil changes, brakes, fluid changes, etc. Great car if you're broke like I was when I bought it.
