This truck has always run very well and I have performed routine maintenance since I purchased it. I use synthetic motor oil and transmission fluid. With 203,000 miles it still runs quiet in the city and highway. I get 19 mpg highway and 14 mpg city. We have thought about getting rid of it but it is now a great third vehicle that serves many purposes.
Why doesn't GMC make a Yukon 2dr

This is a great vehicle. I have kept it for 13 years and it still looks and drive great. Its easy to get around and park and fits in my garage. The 4dr Yukobeasts GMC sells now are not nearly as much fun, useful or good looking. This is a vehicle I love to head out in on Saturday doing my errands. Not for soccer moms on a cell phone. This is a guy's truck.

We bought our Yukon brand new; just off the truck. We had to go looking for it, because they were new on the market and everyone was wanting one. We have never regreted it. They do not make the 2dr type any more, it is a classic. I have received numerous compliements on the great sporty look it has. It has been extremely reliable and fun to drive. It has leather interior and still a nice looking vehicle. I was hit from behind once and the Yukon was tough and did not sustain much damage even though the lady that hit me with a Suburban had tremendous damage.

Over all this has been the best truck i have ever owned. It has major potential to be anything that you want it to be. Great porformance and great towing. Very easy to see and handles like a car. I cant resist to upgrade and soup up the engine. Overall it is a truck with major potential. My yukon has 165,000 miles on it and still no problems. Sounds great with 40 series flowmasters.

This has been a great SUV, 156K and going. I've owned it for 10 years, replaced the starter, radiator, alt. regular oil changes and tires thats it! Drive it all over the western U.S. Hauls the boat kids etc. If you need a relaible people moving go to the fun truck, buy one of these!

Purchased the Yukon new between X-Mas & New Year '94. Best vehicle we've ever owned. While the gas mileage isn't great at 15 MPG the maintenance has been nil. I track cost per mile on maintenance and repair and this is, by far, the best rig we'ver ever owned. As an example, until 80K miles our repair cost totaled $140.00 (an electrical switch). Had a choice of a company car, any American made vehicle, I chose another Yukon. Americans can build great vehicles and this is one.

Bought it used 14 years ago with 38k miles on it. It now has 425,000 and is still going strong. The 6.5 Turbo Diesel is original and has never been opened, the transmission was rebuilt at 265k miles. Other than that it has just needed the normal wear out items replaced (brakes, shocks, batteries, etc.). I have driven this truck all over the US and Mexico, in all forms of weather, and it has never left me stranded. It's also pretty good on gas (er..diesel), i usually get 20-22 on the highway at 75, which I think is great considering it's size and it being 4wd. Why doesn't GM make these anymore?

My experience has been excellent. The Yukon has been a dependable workhorse with a minimum of problems. And the problems were worked out very well by the dealer.

Prior to my possesion, the trans. just basically collapsed. I had the entire trans. replaced & i haven't had any trouble with it since. The space is above and beyond. Recently I went to go pick up a Double-size mattress. I wasn't quite sure if I would fit, but I took the risk, and sure enough, both the box springs and mattress fit perfectly!

@233605 Original miles I am some what satisfied, except for transmission issues, on a recent trip out of state to Texas from Idaho, I and wife rented a vehicle because the 95 gmc Yukon we own was manufactured for speeds of 65 mph, the new highway speeds are 80 mph and I didn't want to risk loosing an engine, so I opted to rent which isn't the problem, before we left, I pulled both batteries from my 78 Chevy and my wife's 95 gmc Yukon, since we were going to be gone for 2 weeks I figured, if you were going to steal our vehicles from our drive way, you car thieves had better bring a battery, when we came back, both trucks were there, I reinstalled both batteries and they both started, shortly after that we drove our vehicles to and from work, and my wife informed me that vehicle transmission has a rough engagement from first to second, after I explained this situation to a transmission shop, and had it serviced 12 quarts tranny fluid and filter, I figured that would solve the problem, the problem wasn't servicing, what actually happened when I removed the Battery, the main battery charges the small battery in the ECM, which stores all the parameters of the engine and transmission, I got lucky and found a automotive electric shop for older cars, and what needs to be brought to lite is the ECM had be re flashed to install the original memory, and that would solve the problem, which it did and every thing shifted smoothly, but now im dealing with the reverse on the transmission its slow to engage, so back to the drawing board, but for all those that want to keep there older vehicles, i give you fair warning, parts are becoming hard to find, the parts that are available are not meeting American Standards, Former President Bill Clintons NAFTA allowed American auto parts to be made over seas in foreign countries, and American's are getting junk in the box, even the new cars are getting junk, A prime example. AC DELCO is a subsidiary of GM, and when I watch our mechanic install 3 BRAND NEW AC DELCO ALTENATORS for my wife's 95 GMC YUKON, rite out of the box, the first 3 wouldn't hold charge finally the 4th one did. I know eventually I will need to replace the transmission my only hope is it I get a new one will it be made in America with American made parts or am I going to get a transmission casing with foreign made parts in side. My fingers are crossed. Good luck American's and happy hunting for American made parts. Thanks Rick

I bought this truck from my brother as his lease expired. This has been the best truck I ever owned. I will keep this truck till the wheels fall off, then I'll put new ones on. It is reliable even with 140,000 miles on it,only basic maintance needed so far. Thank you GMC for this terrific truck.

Constant radiator problems. Front suspension problems at 80,000 miles. Spare tire mounted inside vehicle takes too much space. Outside r view mirrors are lousy. WS wiper motor failure @ 75000. Poor visibility when turning because of width of roof support. Difficult for many to climb into vehicle because of vehicle height. Very poor mileage.

I just took my truck down to California and back from Vancouver, BC. No worries on the trip, as this is by far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Still on the original engine and original transmission, body is in excellent shape (with the exception of a little bit of rust on the tail gate). I would never get rid of it! It even pulls my 29' Sea Ray (10,000 lbs) from my house to the marina and back (a total of 10 kms) with no problem. It's done the trek for 9 years now, and has never had a problem.

I have had this SUV for over 2 years now, and i have never had a truck that was so much fun. I have had her off- raod, and she swam right through a pond, it was great. I know have over 190,000 miles on the origainal engine and transmission, and she still runs and drives like a champ.
Great SUV..never lets me down.

Bought my Yukon used in 97 with 35,000 miles on it. As of today it has just over 238,000 miles on it. I can honestly say it drives like the day I bought it. Great on and off the road. It will carry anything and is just as content blazing down the highway at 80mph as it is in the mud. I have replaced the usual wear out items but the engine and transmission are original are running great. It has all the power and torque I need and still gets 20 mpg on the highway. The highway ride is solid and comfortable and it will pull anything. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a do- it-all SUV that can carry 4 in quiet comfort.

I have a 1994 Yukon GT and it's been in the family for about 10 years now. My mom used to drive it and now I drive it. It has 228,000 miles on it. I've used Mobil 1 the whole time through tough towing offroading and burnouts and yet it still runs like new. Not once has this vehicle ever broken down on us and left us stranded. It's an amazing truck. Powerful, well built, reliable. It's very safe in all weather conditions especially snow. It might not be the best on gas but there's just something about these trucks that all owners love. This truck will be in my family for the rest of my life. It's getting restored as soon as I'm done with school.

I bought this vehicle new, after it sat in the dealer's lot for a year. The replacement of various gaskets and severe corrosion in ignition coil have only been my high price maintenance items. In all, I have spent about $6,000 maintaining this vehicle over its first 80,000 miles.

My Yukno has never given me any trouble. It is a great car and it looks great too. The 4-wheel drive option gives me alot of extra power. The only thing that bothers me is the low horsepower count.

A perfect "tank" for my teenaged (and now college aged) daughter! It holds ALL her stuff when packed to the gills with a cargo carrier on top. Mileage is surprisingly good (15-16 mpg) with its low gear ratio for towing. Its bright Bahama Blue with a red stripe and its good performance make it the only "sports car" in our family of SUVs. Some maintenance, but no real mechanical trouble compared to my two newer Tahoes. This is more like my trusy old suburban.

I bought this Yukon from a Mom and Pop shop almost ten years ago with 114000 miles on it. If it was black in color I'd keep it and restore it but it's two tone silver and teal and the rust is starting to show through so I'm thinking off to auction it goes. It's been the most reliable truck I've ever had but the GMC has had major repair bills over the years. I can't think of anything that hasn't been replaced at least once but the engine and tranny are still original and running strong at 215000. Still, I wonder if the money spent on repairs over the years wouldn't have been better spent on a newer model. Still a great vehicle for the market price of 3 thousand. Hate to see it go.

I bought my truck because it had a completely new engine due to an intake manifold gasket failure. To my chagrin, I've replaced that same suspect gasket 3 more times. It's a design flaw, which GM is happy to exploit.
95 5speed/ 2 door sedan.

One of a kind. Has 150000 miles on it and I bought it new from the lot. Basic maintanence done every 3000 miles. Will not get rid of it.

Have had this Yukon for 235,000 miles. I recently used it to pull a small house, thing did it slow but effortlessly. Still a beast to this day!

I bought my yukon with 50,000 miles. It has a diesel engine. I now have 150,000 + miles, with exception of about $3000 in up keep (seals, idler arms, etc...) I have not had many problems.
