Not a tough vehicle
This suv is not meant for any sort of off roading despite its appearance. The underside is unprotected including the plastic gas tank. We were on a road that my Honda civic has traveled and one scape broke a bearing holding the drive shift, which in turn made the all wheel drive unusable. Had a minor slide off into a snow bank earlier and had $5k in damage to grill, bumper, fog lights. For the price, this vehicle is very fragile. What it lacks in structural integrity it does not make up in fuel economy, so as a highway traveler it is not superior. It is comfortable, quick, and fun to drive, but I am very underwhelmed after 27k miles.

Snow driving is not good
This is my 2nd Terrain. My first one drove great in the snow. I never got stuck anywhere. This Terrain does not do well at all in the snow. It leaves me stuck trying to get up thr slightest hill. I am not sure what done that made it different. They are both FWD. But overall, I love the Terrains. I love the size, the comfort, and how it drives in other weather except snow. I am thinking I will need to get an AWD going forward. Thank you!
underpowered drive train
The drive train is underpowered at 35 to 45 when trying to maintain speeds following traffic on NH roads it transmission grinds like you are in a standard shift high gear going to slow. I have to put in L mode and select the best gear when you do that the rpms go higher and stops most of the grinding I complained at the dealer when I had 1200 miles on it and was told its normal use the L mode. I have the SLT I paid in the high 30"s for this car and can't wait until Ican get out of it. It is a terrible running car when you have to feel it grinding in the drivetrain. Highway is fine at higher speeds Very disappointed in this vehicle when i bot it i got extra warrantee thought last car i am 72 not a chance I will trade and will not go back to gm. Everything else works ok and is a nice car except it runs terrible.
