Used 1996 GMC Jimmy SUV Consumer Reviews
American Junk
Buyer beware!!! Just another piece of American junk. I bought this truck used in March of 2003 and within the first year I had to replace the radiator, alternator, and catalytic converter. Truck has an oil leak that is too expensive to fix and the engine developed a knock within 10,000 miles. I look forward to my next purchase of a Toyota.
Stay away, Stay away
Bought new and the doors were too short for the frame. Two days after purchase the transmission went out. The dealership would not take the car back. Since then, all mechanical parts have been replaced at least once. Service engine light is always on. Therefore, it lets you know the engine is running.

Built to last
This SUV is truly a good automobile. I've driven on large rocks and many unleveled consruction sites and I haven't gotten stuck. With all the room in the rear, and the fold down seat, I've even traveled a few times very comfortably. My SUV has been hit in the rear without damage. That's when i realized that this SUV was built to last and is durable.
Sad to see it grow old
My Jimmy tows an aluminum boat with precision. Lately, however, I have had to fix engine parts too frequently.
Mileage
I think this is a great SUV for a sixteen year old to drive. It gets around a 20 miles a gallon and with gas prices your kids will not be asking you for gas money. They are a fun truck to drive.
