Great Ride and Comfort

I have about 3k miles on my Acadia and am very happy with it. I usually get about 21-22 mpg on a tank of gas, not too bad for new and I notice the faster I go, the better the mileage. The tranny seems abit sluggish through its changes especially around 45 mph, but even that is improving as I use it. The ride is great!

Don't be deceived by its good looks! I loved the 2008 GMC Acadia when I saw it and test drove it. Had I known it would run so bad only after a few years we bought it, I would have never purchased the car. I have had several problems but recently the TRANSMISSION breaking has made me never, ever, ever, ever want to buy a GMC again!

We looked at all the current cross-overs, in the end this is the largest and in terms of efficiency, same or better as the rest. In comparison to imports, it runs on regular which is a huge plus, fuel econ better than MDX & X5. Versitility is tops; 2nd row captains and 3rd row bench easily accomodate adults and any kind of gear you want to store. Switched from smaller car, still adjusting to size. On the road, feel as big or bigger than minivans, but not as large as full size SUV's and some mid size SUV's. Getting 19.5 overall with a mix of 60% highway and 40% city. Driving close to posted limit, long highway trips getting 21, hope to improve once the AC goes off this fall.

My husband traded in our 98 Oldsmobile Aurora for this crossover. It's the first SUV we have owned. I am pleasantly surprised at how smooth this vehicle drives. The interior is very well designed and convenient. I haven't had any problems to date. I was worried about driving an SUV since I have only owned cars, but I feel absolutely safe and secure in this car. The kids love all the space in the back, and they also enjoy the ablity to play their own music or CD's. The fuel economy is ok I expect it to get better with more miles. I am so happy with my husband's decision to get us a reliable safe car while he is away. I have only owned GM cars, and will never own anything else

I have had this vehicle for 3 weeks now and love it . It drives like a car. If you accelerate slow and study and try to keep it under 2000 rpms it will obtain the gas mileage as stated on the window sticker. GM has really hit the mark with this vehicle. Fun to drive.

This is a really great car in the crossover market. Owned it now for a year with no problems. Its like getting mini van comfort and size with SUV styling and performance. Perfect for our family of four with two little ones and our heaps of stuff we seem to need to take everywhere.

Just drove to FL from NJ towing 2 jet skis. Mileage suffered but not a problem with acceleration and handling. Two guests that drove the car are selling their SUV and Caravan to buy one. Comfort was excellent and the interior space was great. I would highly recommend this car. The total mileage on this trip, towing and not was 5400 miles and not a problem. I would recommend larger mirrors for towing.

Have now driven the vehicle 20,000 miles, nearly all in Mexico. Good news is that I have had no mechanical problems at all and the car is very useful for hauling people and baggage. However, gas mileage remains unsatisfactory. Even at sea level, averaging around 55mph, mileage never goes over 18 miles per gallon. Have had the vehicle checked twice for gas consumption, with the computer showing no problems. I cannot believe other, much higher, mileage reports. Local GMC dealer confirms that real gas mileage does not come close to advertised numbers.

The Acadia is a good value for a 6000 pound crossover SUV. It has a good ride and decent performanace. I came out of a Tahoe and had to get used to the V6, but I must admit GMC did a pretty good job with the 275 available horses.

We only have 15000 KM/9000 mi This is a very comfortable vehicle and it handles very well on the road. The AWD is noisy when it engages to the point of annoying on slippery streets. The other feature that is very inconvenient is if you drive in snow or mud it collects on the inside of the wide rims and if it is below freezing puts the wheels out of balance. I have had to go to a car wash twice while travelling just to wash the rims out. the last time it viberated the car so bad I could not go over 40 mph. The sun roof also developed a leak after only 7000 mi.

Initially everyone looking at this type of vehicle will love the Acadia. Nice looking vehicle with lots of amenities however I have never had a vehicle with this many issues. The roof leaked into the car and we had to take it to the dealer several times to get that fix, it needed bigger drainage tubes. The timing cover had a leak and needed replaced, the tie rod end link was replaced. Its in the shop right now because the engine sounds like a diesel with the lifters ticking like crazy and the power steering pump is loud and needs replaced. Anyone need a slightly used Acadia?

We were so happy when we bought our Acadia. Great looks, power, and felt solid. After we bought the car we learned how bad the fuel economy was. I also noticed the hesitation up hills. Throttle response is terrible if you step on it. At 8,000 miles check engine light came on. Service center told us fuel cap and camshaft problem? Camshaft? Only 8,100 miles on this car.

I love this vehicle. Everything is great about it. The look, the handling, the quitness at 0ver 80 mph (be creative), the options, etc.. But there still some small thing I wan to comment on. For a 40k car there is so much plastic inside. You expect it to be more luxurious but it's not. Have bluetooth, for God's sake we are in the 21 century. Premium sound system is so not premium, bearly giving sound. Guess they forgot to install the amp. The gas mileage is not so bad as long as you are babysitting it, but if you dare to push that pedal you will truly see the gas gauge is going down in front of your eyes, but that should be expected with a huge car like this. After all I still love this car

Just got the loaded up model, just an awesome vehicle, the lazy transmission is the only drawback to this vehicle. Learning to live with it in light of getting better gas mileage than the old pig Yukon I drove. Really nice fit and finish, GM really got this one right. Bought the carbon black and can't stop opening the door to the garage to look at it. Also found myself taking rides for no reason. Love the dash at night, looks european (audi like). Cool ride and glad I got one as that was a chore in itself.

We traded in a Honda Pilot for the features offered by the Acadia, the primary one being the dual climate control. The particular model we purchased has basically everything, so we are very pleased with that. However, the engine performance is less than desirable and the constant shifting of the transmission, based on changes in the road, etc., especially with the cruise control on, is very annoying. It's as if the transmission and/or engine can't decide how to power the vehicle down the road. Pushing the accelerator slowly doesn't get you much. The gas mileage is high teens, averaging around 18 - not the greatest. Certainly has all the bells and whistles. A very stylish vehicle.

Nice looks, spacious interior, decent mileage for the size. But it is poorly built with many reliability issues. From water leakage, break pedal sticking, Traction control and Stabilitrak problems, rear gate issues, and cruise control would not work. I've been more times to the dealership with this car in 7 months than with all my previous four Lexus combined (over 12 years).

Vehicle has been in twice for a leak in the roof. If your car has less than 36k miles, make sure it is exposed to a heavy rain before you get outside the warranty. If I am not given an extension on my warranty I will be looking to unload this car and will never spend another dollar on a GM product.

We just completed our first 250 mile trip. I cannot find a thing to complain about and lots to compliment. We traded in our 02 Envoy with 80,000 miles. The Acadia is much quieter on the highway -about the same gas mileage (22 hwy). We have grandkids visiting and the 7 passenger seating is ideal - the back seat is comfortable. My grandaughter pointed out there is even a 120v outlet in the back seat for laptops and dvd etc. We are very pleased thus far.

GMC couldn't have designed a car any better than this one! The interior is roomy and comfortable and it doesn't have the top-heavy feel of most SUV's and is very easy to park. The parking assist is also handy (the back glass is up high and you don't have the best view of the back). Gas mileage could be better but what do you expect, it is an SUV...well worth the room in my opinion. This is the perfect car for moms...plenty of room and easy access to all seats (captain chairs & third row). I couldn't have designed it any better myself!

Had our Acadia about three weeks now, and love it. After having Expeditions and Suburbans it was a shock to go down, but the car is great. Seats are all very comfortable, and so far the tranny hasn't been an issue for us. Kids love it too. Have to agree with folks on the cupholders and outlet up front. They need at least one more plug or even two on the side of the console so you can plug things in without blocking the front cupholder. Mileage is about what we expected (15 so far with heavy city driving) Great car.

I have been looking for a car for several months. We are a family with four children, two in college, two in high school. While we thought we could downsize with two kids out of the house, we found we still need space in a vehicle for when everyone is home, moving into and out of dorm rooms, hauling around friends, etc. This SUV is the perfect size for that...not too big, but with room enough to comfortably seat 6 of us and the dog. I shopped around a lot! Looked at MDX, Volvo, VW, Mercury. The GMC was the best price of all other models I compared to. I love the ease of use of all the controls, visibility is great as well. Not a luxury interior, but practical and well designed. Love it.

Bought my Acadia as a dealer leftover. Got home and the battery was dead, now after 6 months I am on my third battery. Dealer cannot find the source of the problem and I keep an emergency jump pack in the back of the car at all times. I too have water coming in the pillars and have had the drain tubes "enlarged" Gas mileage 16 city and 18 highway --no where near what the sticker suggests. Transmission seems to hunt for a gear when on cruise control.

I love my Acadia. I love the remote start on cold day and how the lights stay on for a minute or so in order to make it to the house. I am disappointed in the gas mileage. I have a noise coming from around the left front tire, it makes a popping sound similiar to perhaps it is misfiring. The dealership says nope it is the ABS setting. Other than the popping at take off no problems and I hope once it breaks in the fuel economy will get better. I would recommend one to anybody wanting a SUV and room to boot it has it and it does not look like a mini van in the process. I plan on keeping it for many years.

I bought my car in February 2007, we were in a drought no rain, then we had a heavy rain. We got inside the car and my floorboard was standing in water, the headliner was wet and water was pouring out of the airbag sign, I called the dealership, they told me I had left sunroof open which I never use. By the time I took it in to the dealership a few days later, they had other vehicles with same problem they fixed it in minutes no more problems with that. I think there might be a recall on the roof. Gas mileage poor, and now the driver side window doesn't always work. Very disappointed in the car, not the car we thought we were getting. I think GM needed a 6 cylinder suv and this was it

This is just the finest looking SUV on the road today. Very comfortable and it delivers in excess of the 22mpg highway. Mine is fully loaded with everything imaginable. Instrumentation is excellent including the heads up display on the windshield. Bose is great as is the 36 "favorites" you can set up on the audio. It's nice that you can move from AM to FM to XM without changing the mode. This is my first SUV so I'm just getting used to the size. My last car was a BMW 330 so the change is quite dramatic for me. Backup camera helps tremendously in reverse.

My acadia has been in the shop numerous times. Twice for leaking sun roof- dealership says (twice) it fixed will be ok- who designs a car that has water coming into your sunroof? Lift gate supports at (30K miles, road Miles) malfunctioned and when it fell it almost hit my 3 yo grandbaby, would have hurt her badly or worse. The rattle in dashboard has never been fixed. Now of the worse the steering gear had to be replaced at 45k miles. At 924.46.... Never in all of my vehicles have i had such a lemon.... i quote from another "DO NOT buy this vehicle. I love the look- I love the performance, but it is not worth the frustrations" buy something othere than GMC

I loved this vehicle when I first picked it up. Great ride, nimble handling, good in snow, great looks. Everything about it appealed to me. GM did a lousy job on design and testing the options. The remote start doesn't work from more than twenty feet away. The outdoor thermometer can be off by more than five degrees and you have to put the vehicle in "Park" to display more than five locations on the navigation system when looking for a gas station or resturant. They tell me engineering is working on the thermometer and remote start and the Nav sytem problem is a safety feature. How safe is it to pull over to the side of the Interstate to find a gas station?

Picked up our Acadia in February and used it on several long distant trips getting between 22-26 mpg on the highway. My daughter and I (plus 2 young granddaughters) use it for our weekly grocery shopping - doesn't hold as much as her Tahoe but we enjoy the Acadia's large individual comfort zones. We love XM radio, climate control keeps all areas of the vehicle very comfortable

As a 40 year veteran engineering manager at Ford, GM, and Chrysler I know a good car when I see one. I have driven GMC Jimmys since 1988 and held off replacing my 2001 until I could find a satisfactory replacement. Tried all the competition, Acura, Higlander, Honda Pilot, Mitsubishi, Volvo, Ford's stuff, Dodge and Jeep. The Acadia outtrumps them all, even my wifes new MB ML350! Those who demean domestic carmakers need to go "looksee" and drive. Acadia is an excellent machine in every respect with just a few minor glitches, but great ride, handling, performance, quietness, interior, and content. Well done GM! As the Arnold would say, "I'll be back!"

As I read through the other reviews, my issues are about the same, water, electrical, engine, trans, steering, computer, etc. The worst for me is the random 'not starting' (because of the water in the fuse box, replaced 3x already). Anyway, extremely poor mileage and quality issues all over th place. NOT reliable, OVERPRICED and frankly, a dud! Meeting a GM rep next week - see what they say. My guess is not much. A company in this bad of shape should be way ahead of these problems. Too bad, I always loved GM vehicles, but this has turned me away. Do NOT buy the Acadia - all smoke and mirrors, glitz and no substance...definitely not up to to the GMC reputation!

I loved this vehicle up until recently. I bought this vehicle brand new, now at 53,000 miles, it is currently in the shop because my transmission needs to be rebuilt. I am so disappointed and the warranty will not be extended. This is my first and last GMC vehicle, because I no longer trust the vehicle. I also know someone who has the Outlook and they needed a new engine at 40,000. OMG, when I pay this baby off, I am going back to Honda. Do not walk, but RUN AWAY from this vehicle.

Look good in and out fully loaded. We had 21.9 mpg from Denver to Colorado Springs, 2 adults 2 children one two years old one 4 months and about 150 pounds of luggage that was 5 months ago. We have now 17 mpg for 90% city and 10% high, no shifting problem is not a sport car it is a big (suv cuv van) but not a sport car. We just love it.

When my new Acadia had 1800 miles the check engine light came on. Took it to the dealership and they had to replace the head and both camshafts!! At 2100 miles the check engine light came on. They said the gas cap was loose and even though we repeatedly removed the cap and replaced it, the check engine light would not go off. They had to reprogram the computer to get the light to go off. To compound the misery I'm only getting 17-19 mpg with 90% of my driving being on the turnpike using the cruise control! They say they can do nothing about the gas mileage but it should get better around the 10,000 mile mark!!

If you need room for more than four and don't want to drive a truck, this is the auto for you. We have truly enjoyed this vehicle. We traded in a Toyota Sequoia and we would never go back to that beast. The Acadia is much easier to drive around town and has enough room for our kids and our luggage. The mileage is as advertised as long as you go easy. The transmission does take some time to get use to, but after a while you stop noticing it. The backup camera is very helpful. The Acadia is great in the snow and has the best heated seats of any car I have owned. Extremely comfortable during long trips. The heads up display is great with the navigation system.
