Financial burden
I have had this vechile for 4 years exactly. The first year I had no problems but by the second year I needed a brand new alternator, then recently got a whole new brake system and the final straw was after spending all this money on maintaining this vechile the engine blows on me-- now only has 2 cylinders. Save yourself the headache. I wish I did.

My family bought a Geo Prizm in March '93, special ordered and drove it until 2005. It was gonna be my car once I got my license, but the bottom was too rusted out. We got 178,615 miles and the car was still mechanically sound, except for the rotors. It was completely reliable, unless there was some problem with it, like starter or alternator. All it ever needed was maintenance, except when the clutches burned after my dad had it in 2 instead of D when it was a year old. Ours was Polynesian Green and it was a beauty as a young car, before the rust. It was soooo good we got a 2nd Prizm in '02 and 3 years later my dad got a 2nd '02, after our Geo left the road. More about them in the '02 Chevy Prizm reviews.

Kryptonite
These suckers are built to last a minimum of 10 years. I have owned other dependable cars like the original VW bug. But nothing compares to this thing. It just goes and goes. I am now at 210,000 miles. I have been waiting for the muffler to fall off for 5 years. I have been waiting for the AC compressor to fail for 7 years. The only reapirs I have made are: 1 new starter, 3 batteries, tires and oil change every 3500 miles. But in 34 years of driving this is the most amazing car I have ever had.
