Simply a Great Car!

I purchased my 98 Taurs back in February of this year, at first I wasn't too keen on the styling but with time I warmed up to it. Other then that I find that the acceleration and handeling are superior for a car of this class. Braking could be better, and body roll is a bit excessive at times. Otherwise all I have done is changed the oil and put soem new brake shoes on the back. Hope to keep for another year or so before upgrading to something in the SUV category.

All mighty Taurus

The car has been very good so far. I only had minor problems. Since it does have 90,000 miles this is normal for any car. It rides great and it is by far the most comfortable car i have ever driven. The only thing I can't stand about the car is the inaccurate fuel gauge. It seems to never tell me the right amount of fuel I have.

Electrical Gremlins

Way too many electrical gremlins to list. (Well, let's try anyway: daytime running lights that won't shut off without pulling a fuse, headlights that go from dim to bright at random, electric windows that randomly work, dome light that goes on and off at random, trunk light that goes on and off at random, power locks that suddenly lock or unlock at random....). Transmission is starting to go at 100K miles - at least it has lasted longer than average. Gas mileage stinks - 15 city, 16 highway. Engine knocks badly on regular unleaded. The cupholders won't hold your cup going around corners.

I,ve owned this vehicle for 3+ years and it has been an extremely reliable car. The car currently has 176000+ miles and I have no compliants. Only maintance has been normal wear and tear with parts resonably priced. Engine does not burn any oil even at this mileage.

Problematic Vehicle

This car was specifically built for me. Within the first 2 years I began having throttle assembly problems. It's now on it's 4th TA. The throttle sticks in the idle position. Instead of paying $300 for another throttle body, a friend said to check the throttle fly. It was the problem. Carb cleaner fixed it. Carbon build-up was the culprit. Also one spark plug is located on the backside of the engine which means the engine has to be disassembled to change it. This makes normal maintenance be high dollar. Also, the transmission finally broke two months ago. $1600 to repair. No warning that the transmission was about to breakdown.
