I just bought a Taurus & am in a dispute to get my money back. the guy lied on the disclosure sheet but more important, I getting all the problems I'm hearing over & over in these reviews! Tranny, jerky shifting, thumping on taking off or shifting. Thing is, I like the car, really. Even though, as I've read here, the electric windows and locks leave something to be desired. I found the previous owner, who told me it has always knocked and shifted jerky, but you get used to it, and its been a great car, so I should have Arden fix the motor mount and ignore the rest and it'll be a good car for me. I'm 60, alone, no man to help me if I have car trouble. But I really like driving this car!

Boring but Very Reliable!

I have owned this 1994 Taurus for 3 1/2 years and it has been the most reliable and useful family car that we have ever owned. We bought the car with 54000 miles and it now has 119000 miles. We have had to do very little to this car just the usual, brakes, tires... I am 6'3'' and this car has plenty of room over many other midsize cars in it's class. Nothing fancy in the Taurus but very good reliable transportation with a huge trunk for hauling all of our 'Stuff'.

Why did they ever build this car?

This is quite possibly the worst car on the road ever. I would rather risk a Pinto of the 70's than spend one more minute in this pile of junk. Let me sum it up; 3 transmissions, 2 head gaskets, new steering knuckle on driver side, numerous brake problems, plastic buttons on climate control are gone, suspension problems, and tie-rods. All before 100,000 miles. POS.

Third Taurus

The 94 has been fairly reliable. It has the 3.8 litre engine. It is the LX Model and has many nice luxury features. The head gasket blew at around 75,000 miles, which is a common trait of the 3.8 V6. Fortunately, Ford had extended the warranty and repaired it at their costs. The body and interior have held up well as the car is parked outside often. The moon roof does leak though when it rains. The lumbar support feature on the drivers side seat no longer works. Am also concerned about the transmission as our 91 Taurus transmission had to be replaced. (See review.)
