I take my truck 4 wheeling and have actually made it into rougher terrain than trucks with lift kits and bigger tires. It wheels awesome.I also pull a camping trailer with it into the mountains and I have to say that the only thing that I would change is next time I purchase one,I will get the 4.0 liter. My 3.0 liter is excellent for wheeling but it would be nice to have a little more power pulling my trailer up hills going down the highway.I still would give this truck a two thumbs up.

This dependable and easy to drive vehicle would be great for a first time driver. It is safe and durable. View of the road is excellent and brakes work well.

Not too bad of a truck...I have only had to replace a sensor for the emissions since I bought the truck with 40,000 miles in Aug. 2002. The truck is not that good with gas mileage. Seems like it should also have a little more "get up" when you step on the gas.

99 Ranger Review - Transmission Problems

Great truck, but have major transmissions problems at 50000 miles. If this were a Chrysler I could understand it. I have had Fords all my life. Unless Ford extends their warranty on the powertrain, I'll be buying a Toyota next time.

My '99 Ranger is my second Ford Ranger; my first one was a stick and Idrove it 110,000 miles with no major repair besides the general maintenance. Also never replaced the clutch. I am going on 5 years now with this one and no major repairs besides the general maintenace. Thank you Ford for the Ranger. i am looking at a Ford f-150 as my next purchase but the problem is I do not know when because the Ranger is still going strong.
