Surprised Me!
I really didn't even want this car but had jus gotten a divorce and had to sell my Nice import. I bought the Fusion "for the time being" and ended up still owning it 4 years later! VERY pleasantly surprised by this car. I recently sold this car for above the online values and had still not encountered any problems with it. I sold it with about 130,000 miles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Great road car.
I am 6' 240. Drive 1500 mile trips weekly every month. Often PA, WV, and TN interstate mountain driving. Fusion awesome road car for these long trips. Typically cruise at least 75 mph. Without cruise, going 90 before I know it. Handles great, even climbing and curvy mountain driving. Have never driven a luxury vehicle, so cannot honestly compare as far as road noise. Fusion seems very quiet to me. Have had noisy cars in past. On long trips simple solution is cotton in ears. At 80,000 miles, the worst I get on my trips is 32 mpg. Very roomy front and back. Huge trunk. Other than tires, and brakes, and religious oil changing, I've never had to put a penny into it. I am far from a techy, so its lack of all of these fancy cameras and computer screens and other such crap is only a plus to me. Best performing and most reliable road car I've driven. NOV 2016 - Now at 90,000 mi. (Job change - not as much driving) still runs great - no money on other than oil change. Bought a '16 Ford Escape (wife loves it). Doing some remodeling. Have to say, I can haul 8' long boards, trim, etc... in Fusion and still close the trunk. With the Escape, I need to leave back hatch open and tie it down. This Fusion has been an awesome vehicle. I hope they haven't managed to ruin the Fusion since 2012, because that will be my first consideration in another year or so. Finally something! At 95,000 miles driver's door hydraulic lock broke. Can open door by pulling handle and lock lever at same time. So have not had fixed. Just lock door with key like old days. Car still runs like a top! DEC 2018 - at 110,000 miles. It took a deer smashing into my rear qtr panel to finally get this vehicle in a shop. Still runs great and very reliable. Still - except for the door lock mentioned above - absolutely nothing has broken down on this car in or out. JUN 2019 - 115,000 miles. Still extremely reliable and runs great, though I can notice it is not as peppy on acceleration as it always has been. Probably should give in and get a tune-up. Still not a penny spent on anything other than oil changes, tires, and one brake job many miles ago. Rarely haul grandkids anymore, but for years that was commonplace. I say that to point out that I recently gave the interior a good cleaning (I smoke). I was impressed with how well the entire interior has remained undamaged. The seats have proven to be well built and very durable (I'm not skinny) and I have never babied the inside - often hauling lumber, etc...before we got the Escape. Had to change a few things below for this update, such as my age and mileage, but the MPG is still accurate.

Downsized to a Fusion and Lovin' Every Minute of It!
I bought a new Ford 2012 Fusion SE 4cy with Sun & Sync, spoiler, Candy Red Color and now I have almost 1100miles on it. I truly am amazed by the smooth quiet ride on this car under $25K. This is my first ever Ford, and if it's reliable, I will no longer be a Chevy/GMC girl. I am averaging 27mpg driving 60/20/20 (rural, hwy, city). Costs about 43.00/wk for me to fill up and run on. I dont drive too slow and only sometimes too fast lol. What sold me on the car was the cost of the car, the roomy and accomadating interior, the smooth and quiet ride, fuel economy, and all the tech features. I now can leave my Iphone in my purse as it's all handsfree (music, calls, info)
Ford Fusion great car, but transmission poor
Overall I really like the car but there's something about the transmission that sporadically acts up within first 5 minutes of driving it, where it doesn't seem to know what gear it needs to be in and thus causes tach to jump around. Then it goes away. Usually always just a slow speeds..

transmission
I agree with the other transmission review. Just purchased an used 2012 fusion se and noticed that when you first drive, the transmission seems confused and kind of stutters for a few minutes.
