Nice Ride... But The Repairs Will Kill You

2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)

I purchased my 2010 Ford Fusion SEL in 2011 and had the car until 2017. I loved driving this car, it handles well, smooth and quiet ride. The car was equipped with heated leather seats, sun/moon roof, microsoft sync, etc. It was a great car to drive. I usually purchase a one yr old car and then plan on driving it for 9 years. Once the car gets to be around 10-11 yrs old I purchase another slighted used 1 yr old car. I planned on having this car until 2020, unfortunately the repairs in the last 3 years (2015 and 2017) have been terrible. Realize I'm a 56 single women who drives mostly around town and I rarely have anyone else in the car. Therefore the car is not abused. First thing was the driver's side tail light, it needed to be replaced 3 times in 3 months in 2015. After the 3 time they replaced the entire housing at the tune of $475. Then in 2016 the horn quit working -- to fix this including labor (they needed to take out the air bag to get to it) cost $550... and then in 2016 the driver's side door handle from the inside didn't work - I had to roll down the window, open the door from the outside to get out of the car :-( ... so I went back and to repair/replace a broken part another $575. Then in 2017 the power steering assist light went on and after taking it to the dealer they told me it would cost $1600 to fix -- holy tamoly. After researching and realizing the car (excellent condition) blue book valued at $5500 I decided it was time to trade it in. So I only got 6 years out of it. The reliability and repairs for this car was unfortunately terrible. If you are thinking about purchasing a used Ford Fusion you might want to do more research.

Not happy

2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl 6A)

I purchased my 2010 fusion 3/2010. I really liked the car I never really own anything else other than a Ford. And after having this fusion am not sure if there is another Ford that I would like to own @ this time. I am having the same problems as for so many other 2010 Ford fusion owners. I wish I was for warned about the major transmission problems that is going on with the fusion. I have had to take my car back several times for the same thing. And needless to say my car is in the shop for a new transmission. This is so discouraging especially when a car note becomes due. Since my loan is threw Ford motor is there anyway to stop payments if you don't have the car?

I purchased my Ford Fusion 2010 after reading the great reviews from Edmunds. After 5 years, I've already had to deal with 3 repairs (replace engine fan, faulty belt tensioner, driver side door broken). The car has never been in an accident, driven 100% in Northern California where the weather is great (never falls below freezing) and garage kept overnight. I am extremely disappointed that the car has had these issues and it's only been 5 years where as my 10 year old Mazda 3 has still yet to have any repairs. Mar'17 update - Encountered the throttle body issue that many Fords have dealt with and still no known solution to the airbag recall (after nearly 1 year of discovery). Needless to say, of the ~10 more cars I'll buy in my lifetime, none of the them will be a Ford.

2010 Ford Fusion SPORT 4dr Sedan AWD (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Have had the 2010 Fusion Sport 3.5L AWD (with the Nav, 8" screen with backup cam option. Remote start, BLIS & rear CTA) for almost 11 years plus now. No problems other than battery replaced twice. Has been very reliable, not even a squeak or a rattle. Ride and handling fine. AWD, great winter foul weather car. It is no economy car with 263HP 3.5L V6 and did not expect it to be one. Radio head unit (Not MyFordTouch) on rare occasion will do some unexpected things, (like any computer). Like the more linear power of a normally aspirated V6 (and real conventional 6S Automatic) as apposed to a turbo 4 with their off on again power delivery and questionable reliability.

Had my 2010 Ford Fusion 4 cyl SEL for 9 months now. The transmission is the worst piece of garbage ever to come in a car at any time in history. It has been 'reflashed' 5 times, had new valve body and been completely replaced once. It is still 'flaring' and shuttering every day. It has spent a total of 47 days in the shop just for the transmission problems and another 7 days for the BLISS system failures. This care is a joke and for will not own up to it. Lemon Law here we come.
