Amazing car

I usually only buy coupes as I find them to be the sportier choice, but my Fusion sport is way better than anything I had before. The quality is excellent and the ride is quite and smooth. This car turns heads!

2010 Car of the year for a reason

I had been researching family sedans with manual transmissions and this one is it. The gear ratios are perfectly spaced. It's a blast to drive and is beating the EPA estimates by 3-4 MPG. My wife drives it 90% of the time and loves it. It's only getting 1-2 MPG less than a 2004 Corolla we had before. It's amazingly quiet. If you can't find a comfortable position with the 8 way driver's seat, then you'll not be comfortable in any car. The criteria that led us to this car is the Consumer Reports review of the Fusion. It has been on par with all the benchmark cars...Camry, Accord, etc. Plus with the "Sun and Sync" package, it was $4000 less than Accord and $1400 less than Camry.

Holds up well in an accident

2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)

The vehicle was rear-ended by a Mazda CX-7 traveling in excess of 40 mph while stationary, waiting to turn left at a red light (traffic had backed up into a lane of travel). The trunk was destroyed and the front clip was beat up front impacting the car in front of me, but other than that car held up surprisingly well (the seat gave a lot, and the large head restraints prevented what should have otherwise been a serious case of whiplash).

Transmission and starter problems

At about 1000 miles the automatic transmission started slipping. Ford does not know how to fix the problem. At about 2000 miles the starter motor at times does not engage the engine and at times it will not disengage after the engine starts. A Ford representative suggested trading the car in. The car now has 2600 miles and my wife is scared to drive her new car.

American Convert

I never thought Ford or any American Auto Maker would be on par with a European or Japanese Maker. I got the spirited 3.5L sport engine to the detriment of fuel efficiency. I do not regret it, the car is fun to drive and rock solid. The fit and finish inside and out is very good. The center console is button happy, plastic surfaces look good except for the glove box. Do not care much for the tiptronic transmission. Sync system geared towards native English speakers. I have to anglicize too many Spanish names when searching. The outside is muscular, at times the cars seems to begs for speed. A bit much chrome on the front grill. Good suspension. It takes road abrasions with aplomb.
