2016 500 Miles first thoughts-
After driving the 2016 SE hybrid with the 502a luxury package for 500 miles here is what I have noticed. Liked not having to get gas for the first 500 miles! Have not yet seen 44 MPG as advertised. But the computer shows a solid 40MPG. Leather seats with 502 package are comfortable. instrument gauges are laid out well and steering wheel telescopes and tilts so you can see the gauges. Door window controls are to far forward you will have to strain to reach window controls. There is a strange hump in drivers floor board that take makes it hard to get drivers left foot comfortable. Front usb charging port is hidden under arm rest and hard to get at while driving. There is another power port in front but that does not sync to infotainment system. Myford Touch is a complete mess. Response time to functionality it is lame. Smart phones maps can NOT be displayed by system. Smart phone functionally is reduced when using either usb or bluetooth to interface with system. Phone can be heard and user can be heard with car mics. The Microsoft myford touch is so out of date. The newer sync3 from blackberry again look old before its even rolled out. Why go with 2 older tech companies that are failing in the mobile market. Android iOS seem like much better choices. Bet there was a lot of free golf from microsoft and blackberry to get that contract. To bad for Ford they don't have ex Car handles tight but acceleration is limited with hybrid. Car is easy to get in and out of and drivers seat can automatically scoot back to let driver in and out. Back seats are comfortable with not much leg room for adults. Trunk is ok. I tried the Honda and Toyota hybrids before purchase of the fusion SE. I found both the Honda and Toyota to be less room with less much quality in seats and comforts. Both Toyota and Honda were higher priced in my area.

Two year owner
Sorry to see Ford is not going to produce this car in the future. A new head unit was installed and now the problems that we had in the past have disappeared. The car is comfortable to drive, but don't look for performance. This car is geared for high mileage, not performance. It's an OK stop gap until EV's become more prominent. After one year the car does have small problems like a squeaky trunk. Trunk was fixed under warranty. My biggest annoyance now is the lack of clarity of the backup camera. Compared to my BMW backup camera it is like a 2 mega pixel camera vs a 20 mega pixel camera. Also the window switches are made for people who have long arms since they are situtuated too far ahead. I have also changed some of my ratings either downward or up. For example I changed the Value rating from four stars to five. For the price you get a lot of features. Fuel and maintenance is also excellent. Just the resale value is probably poor.

VERY HAPPY PURCHASE :)
3- year update: I moved to Dayton, OH with much shorter winters and virtually no snow. I am retired now so no more short commutes that killed gas mileage. I have learned that I can average as much as 55 mpg by going <62 mph on trips. I did put a tow hitch on it, and have towed a 1,000 lb trailer across country, by being EXTREMELY GENTLE. Meaning I slowed down like the loaded semi's to as slow as 35 mph on the freeway. Since the move, I bought a kayak trailer, which I hardly feel behind me at speeds up to 70 mph. And I get ~43 mpg towing it at up to 62 mph!!! I am VERY happy with the increased gas mileage by driving a bit slower and not living in the mountains near Canada. Repairs: Just one, I had some electronics fail in the throttle body (new name for the carb.-device mixing fuel/air). Replaced under warranty free of charge by a friendly dealer. I never did install a proper roof rack, just pads; a lightweight trailer is a better idea, but may void your warranty. Tires squeel a bit even in slow turns, and have much less traction now. I may replace them in Dec because of a planned trip to the mountains of northeast WA. Everything works like new still, but it needs a good detailing :) FORD SUGGESTION: Eliminate the regenerative breaking in normal mode when the vehicle is coasting. Free-wheeling would be far more fuel efficient. Let the driver choose ECO-mode or use the brake pedal lightly for battery charging. I am certain I could average 2+ mpg more if such were the case. My 2016 Fusion Hybrid S is only a month old, so this is really preliminary. PURCHASE: Blessed to get a "One at This Price" deal. That means choices of color and a few options were not available. Also, found out after purchase that it has ZERO tow-rating, not even for a small kayak trailer for my long kayaks. I'll have to put a roof-rack on it for that. RIDE: Quiet, comfortable, and surprisingly sporty for a family car. I accelerated hard, momentarily, to merge once, it felt strong. I have had to slam on the brakes twice, on both gravel and dry pavement to avoid deer...outstanding safe and controlled stopping. Steering in corners could be addictively fun. MILEAGE: My commute is only two miles of gravel road with a 600' descent/climb, so I get about 30 MPG near home at the 1,100 mile point. Last fill-up was 38.48 overall with some longer drives thrown in. "Indicated" mileage seemed 1 to 2 mpg over actual, but this is preliminary. FUTURE ROADS: Considering upgrading driver's rubber floor mat with Weathertech. Should I get a spare tire, or stick with the repair kit??? Then, deciding on cargo organizer and cargo mat. Roof rack for kayaks. Block heater. Aftermarket fog lights??? I need to get more used to SYNCH and why some names aren't recognized for calling. It is fun to watch your mileage in different situations and be green saving money. In my budget, this efficiency opens up more road trip opportunities, and I can't wait :) 7 month update: Mileage: dropped significantly in the winter with warming up the car a couple minutes, using max defrost, and headlights in northeast WA for a 2 mile commute. Expected, but sad. Driving: Front suspension and low clearance are a pain for speedbumps, potholes, or minor dips on dirt roads...I live in the boonies. My local dealer would not allow me to put stronger springs in, nor go to a larger tire for the winter without voiding the warranty... Trunk does not open all the way automatically to facilitate loading, must be raised by hand. I will talk to dealer about this. I am, by nature, extra critical. These are minor issues, and I still love this car!
