2016 Ford Focus Titanium 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6AM)

I leased my 2016 Focus Titanium in March, and I have put 7,000 miles on it since then. I absolutely LOVE this car - I look forward to driving it every single day. I have owned a 1999 Volvo V70 XC, a 2011 Mazda3, and most recently a 2005 Acura 3.5 RL, and this is by far my favorite out of all of them. Coming from the Acura, the Focus drives and feels like a bigger, more expensive car than the price tag would suggest. It is solid, with a smooth, buttoned-down ride, and exceptionally tight handling and steering feel. It feels much more solid and smoother than my Mazda 3 ever did, and it has much lower levels of road noise as well. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, even over extended periods, and the level of technology is impressive. I love the Sony stereo (which is powerful and has punchy bass), the navigation system, rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and the SiriusXM TravelLink (which has already saved me from several traffic jams). The remote start has been great in both the cold winter weather AND the humid summer weather that plagues New England. Best of all, the gas mileage is far superior to that of any of my past vehicles, especially when it only costs about $20 - $25 to fill the tank. The only true downsides are a lack of rear-seat legroom for taller people, and the dual-clutch PowerShift transmission, which can get a little confused at lower speeds. It is worth noting that I test drove a 2012 Focus back in 2011, and it is MUCH improved over the earlier model years. Certainly not a deal-breaker, and not nearly as bad as some of the reviews claim, just something that takes a little bit of adjusting to. A little more power would be nice as well, but I was spoiled by the V6 in my Acura, and the increase in gas mileage more than makes up for it. Overall, I find my 2016 Focus Titanium to be a fantastic car for the money, and I do not feel I downgraded by switching from a luxury/premium brand. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a high quality vehicle without breaking the bank

Bought it for the Great Gas Mileage

2016 Ford Focus SE 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

I'd previously owned two 2003 Focus hatchbacks with automatic transmissions that my sons drove. I'd always been impressed with their quick acceleration and solid handling. After reading reviews on this generation, I purchased a well-equipped model, but with the manual transmission (so as to avoid the issues so many others had complained about with the DCT). It easily delivers 2 out of 3 things I wanted - terrific fuel economy (30 MPG after 1300 miles, though my shorter trips as the weather is becoming cold it's getting me around 27 MPG), and very nimble handling. Other bonuses: it's fun to drive, the German manual tranny & clutch are the smoothest I've ever had, it's quiet, the interior is nicely appointed. Contrary to what some say, the back seat leg room seems adequate for my 5'11" teenager. Also, the storage space is fine, especially with the rear seats folded. The third thing? I can get "zippy" (my wife's word) acceleration, but only if I rev high in 1st & 2nd gears. I also drive an '07 Mustang GT, so I think I'm just having to deal with the adjustment. The older 2.3L 4-speed AOD models I've driven seemed to move very quickly, but they probably also lingered in the lower gears. My major complaint: There is NO elbow room. When I'm by myself (which is why I bought this - I no longer needed the SUV I was driving before), all is good. When there's a passenger in the car, there's just not enough space. Yes, I have broad shoulders, so this may not be a problem for you. While I shift, it seems I'm always jostling the passenger unless they're planted as far right as possible in their seat. Leather seats are a little sticky. Every day, at first application, the brakes grab hard. I'd also have liked an auto-dimming mirror, but on the whole, I'm very happy with my new purchase. Update on 6/3/2018: I'm still very happy with this car. It drives like new (it should, it only has 11.5k miles on it). My only new complaint is I dropped the Performance of this car from 5 stars down to 4. Outside of winter, this car is still a blast to drive. But after two harsh WNY winters, I've found this car's limitations: the 17" rims and 50 series tires are pretty useless in snow (deep OR shallow) or ice. I realize I could alleviate the problems somewhat with snow tires & smaller rims. But I'm not sure it would handle really deep snow, regardless. On the plus side, after finally being 'broken in', I'm regularly getting 32+ MPG on my short commute to work, and when I do take longer rides on interstates, I'm easily getting 35-36 MPG.

Woes or knows?

Please people read up on these cars before you buy one. I thought a Ford and the years they have been in making cars, so why not. I was a busy time, my son had bought a new 2017 Focus and I really liked it. His is a manual transmission and I got a auto. At 32000 miles that clutch went out and Ford did replace it. But now I am wondering how long will this clutch last. As I finely read up about the cars on the net turns out Ford has this new dry clutch idea, they just finely got them right in 2018. Like wow, still its a fun car to drive but not a lot of room in the back seat. But it has some really nice things on it like the back up camera and telling me when I get to close to something behind me. So maybe for the money its an ok car but those dry clutches really bother me. I think the next time I buy a car I will try a Toyota just give up on American made. But my run has been long I am a 66 year old woman.

Focus Focus Flop- Don’t buy!

What shoppers should know before buying this car is TO NOT BUY IT AT ALL! The transmission in all focus vehicles have gone through a lawsuit as they are faulty. I have had the WORST experience as a first time car buyer and regrettably, long time Ford fan. The transmission is crap, slips gears, doesn’t respond to acceleration and has left me sitting on a main street with RPM’s raging, going nowhere. I have had th clutch AND transmission replaced 4 times- still under warranty as I’m ONLY AT $23k miles- and it’s dying. Broke down on me yesterday. The entertainment center is crap, barely recognizes my phone on Bluetooth and seldom plays music correctly through the USB connection. I knew the car would be compact when I bought it, something I was willing to sacrifice for higher fuel efficiency, but wow this car gets crowded easily. I WILL be partaking in the buy back process and will NEVER buy a Ford again. They should have an easier solution and accomodation for the folks like me who keep going without a vehicle for days on end! 2 thumbs down.
