Great Car for Milage
I got my 2010 Ford Focus in 2013-used with about 60,000 miles on it. It has manual roll down windows (which is what I wanted) I had a 97’ Acura CL before this and the automatic windows were such a problem—scared me for life. Anyways I love my Focus. Great on gas, easy to park in the city and can take a ding from other parallel parkers like a champ. My only CONSISTENT problem with this car is the tires. Always low pressure, always going bald, always popping, I have bent four rims from potholes. My fault on that end but the amount of issues I have with the tires is astronomical. I have had this car for 10 years and have replaced the tires and rims-4 times. I feel like that’s a lot? My brother is my mechanic and he blames my driving lol but I was at the laundromat one day and an older gentlemen stopped me and asked if that was Ford Focus out front. When I said it was he immediately asked me about tire problems sooo I’m starting to think it’s not me. Anyways great car. Would def purchase again. I know how to change and fill tires like a pro now so that’s a positive :)

Paint chiping from winter driving
Purchased last Jan and drove it about 100 miles on salt covered roads after a snowy day. When I got home, I noticed that the paint in front of the rear wheel wells was chipping off. It continued to get worst every time I drove it in the snow. The dealer repainted this area and placed 8 pieces of clear plastic on the doors and fenders to try and prolong it from happening again per the Ford TSB. If you live in a area where they sand or salt the roads in the winter and expect the paint to be durable and long lasting, you should avoid this vehicle.
Okay car
I had to replace transmission at 69000 miles. Had several repairs on parts of transmission before replacing. Even though I had a lot of problems with the car (which wasn't the cars fault). It was a good car for the most part, until a technician crashed it and totalled it.

Great car
Follow up review. 9 months, 26,000 miles later. I replaced the OE Kumho tires with some Continental Extremecontact DWS, and that further improved the already good ride, gave it better grip in the corners, and a quieter ride as well. I've had zero problems since I've owned it, and it's fun to drive, with the A/C off it has plenty of power, and the transmission is responsive and the gears are well spaced for a 4-speed unit. It has tons of grip, and very little body lean in the corners, it just grips and grips. However, with the A/C on, and passengers in the car, the little 2.0 get's a little overwhelmed when getting up to speed. At WOT, the A/C shuts off anyway, so no big deal.
Ford Focus SES? mmm..NO
I bought a used 2010 Focus SES with only 38k original miles on it in California in mid 2019 from a private party off CL for $6000. i wasnt looking to buy a Ford focus ever! but i needed a cheap car and this thing just happened to be the best used car for the price at the time i could find in a hurry. Its 2021 now and ive put about 10k miles on it and its been the lower end of a decent car so far. Nothing really great for sure. But, when i bought this car, it had just been sittn in a garage for so many years that when i got to see it and test drive it, i couldnt pass on it. Well, thats not true. I did try to pass on it. But the guy selln it kept lowering the price because he was selln it for the original owner who had a stroke and could no longer drive and just wanted to get rid of this car. This car was like a new car when i bought it. Still had new car smell. Entire vehicle perfect condition no accidents, all service records from Ford. Current registration. No sun damage. Black Interior flawless. Dark gray Paint, factory aluminum rims, Goodyear like new tires flawless. it was a crazy good deal. Anyway, all these reviews ive been reading about how people love this car?! these are obviously NOT people that are into cars or driven really nice automobiles or mechanics. if it werent for this covid crisis that hit the country, i would have sold this car months ago. Ok so the car does what it should right. So ill tell you what problems ive had in 10k miles of use. First of all, motor mount! Thats right 1 motor mount. And upper and lower transmission mounts. If this isnt the WORST design ever. I dont know what is. After i bought this car and put about 500 miles on it of my own it started vibrating like crazy. Right away i knew what was goin on. So i started shopping online for a high quality aftermarket motor mount fix for this vibrating problem and couldnt find one any where. Not Jeggs not Summit not Ford now where. So i bought all 3 of these mounts OEM from Ford and replaced them all myself. It did help but the vibrating is still there ever so slight and you can just tell that due to such a poor design that the problem will be back no doubt. Then theres the lug nut issue. I was going to rotate the tires in driveway and found that no socket i own nor the lug wrench that comes with the car from Ford fit the lug nuts on this completely stock vehicle. I did some research online and found that each one of these stock lug nuts that were on the car have a thin steel jacket covering over them. That over time can accumulate moisture under this covering causing the lug nut to swell. The only way to deal with this is buy a 19.5mm socket or cut this thin steel jacket off each lug nut while still mounted on the car. Then you can get an 18mm socket on them and get these lug nuts off. so i cut off each jacket and bought an aftermarket new set of proper lug nuts for the car. Good thing i never got a flat tire out in the world some where! thanks Ford! not. then, i noticed the paint on these nice stock aluminum rims, just start peeling off in large flakes!? For some unknown reason. I did some research about that and found this was a common problem as well. So ive had to take each wheel off. Sand and repaint myself. the latest thing the car is doing that im going to look into today is rough idle thats been creeping up when im at a stop light or drive through. due to this cars age not miles, its gotta be rotting out vacuum lines. So im gonna take a can of carb cleaner and start sprayn around the engine with it running and try to pin point my leaks. then theres the rattling heat shields for some unknown reason that run along the exhaust system that i need to tend to. I dont know.. ive barely owned this car in excellent condition and its full of problems and i havent even seen what these cars are really known for failing at like ball joints and transmission soleniod problems. Ugh... would i recommend this vehicle, NO. Never. a few more months from now im going to put this car up for sale and be done with it. Some people may like this thing but i know my cars and you can have it and the one ive got to. These way better vehicles in this class. If you have the means, stay away from these cars and go honda or toyota.
