The V40 Killer!!!! Ya Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DISCLAIMER: Last car was Volvo S-80 (3 yrs), Volvo 859 wagon bef that (3 yrs). Nice cars, loved them, but WAY overpriced (Note: Ford owns Volvo). Read Millionaire Next Door, then tested S40 Wagon, felt like a sardeen can at $25,000. Bot the Focus SE wagon, Infra- Red(18,190 list) from J Madden for $ 13,799 (500 under, and 3000 rebate). Roomier than S40, same rear end and plenty of power. Handles great, quiet on the highway, well built, not as many frills, but who cares. It's 1/2 the S40 price. Loving It!!(Wanted a Cooper S, but have private school tuition ahead...:(
2003 SE Zetec
I had my problems; first the cold idle is still very rough till it warms up. Dealer couldn't fix. Also the rear camber adjusters were factory defective which made the car handle terrible in the winter and ate the rear tires up at 20,000 miles; dealer installed new adjusters and tires under warranty. I told the dealer to take the terrible low-profile Firestones and chunk them as we live in a snowy climate. Engine has plenty of power. Transmission has a harsh 1-2 rolling shift if you don't stop completely. Brakes are excellent as far as stopping power, steering is nimble, ride is acceptable, gas mileage is way below what it suppose to get. All this said I do like the car but my review at 60,000 miles may tell the story.

Focus ZX3 S2 edition
I bought a ZXS S2 edition in September 2001 and it has been great. I set out to purchase a German car but ended up at Ford dealership for a little comparison. I quickly made up my mind that the S2 was going to be the car for me and I have not looked back. It's fun, sexy, and economical. I am six foot 5 and this car fits me great. Seats are awesome and great head room too.
Too Many Repairs
Here I have a 2003 Ford Focus wagon with 52K miles. Decided to go on road trip; had to be towed twice. Started smoking, Ford dealer said it was battery. Then it died again; this time alternator replaced. Made it home and was told the a/c compressor is going. Real nice at this low mileage. In repair shop at least 7 times since I bought it. All about the brakes and rotors. No one could fix them right, still squeaked loudly. Final answer from mechanic that all Ford Focus's do this. Give me a break. I went to brake specialist and they fixed it. Doors sound like tin. Can't open left side passenger door. Just a piece of junk. The money I've spent on this car I could have had a wonderful vacation.
Fun and reliable
Fun and reliable is this car in two words. It is a fun car with a lot of pep. A lot of room and is very reliable dont let other peoples reviews deter you in getting this car because they say that it is unrealible. They are only saying this because that when the first focus came out their was a lot of recalls, but that was only like the first year and all of that is over with. I am glad their was recalls atleast they tell you about and fix the problem.
