Used 1997 Ford F-350 Consumer Reviews
Always Runnin'
In April of 1998 I bought a 1995 Ford F- 350 with 95,567 miles on it. At the time we were looking for a truck to pull our 5th wheel trailer. We had looked at other trucks before but none of them compared to the F-350. With its 460c.u.i.n. V-8 it did the job for us. We purchased it with the aftermarket Sherrod package. As of today the truck has 141,000 miles and still runs like the day we bought it.
Super Ford Truck
A most Excellent purchase!! never left me stranded. Never a breakdown. Just the occasional needing of tires and regular oil changes. all minor maint. The Powerstroke gives all the power you would ever need in a pick up. Pulls our 1976 Fiberform fully fueled and loaded with camping and fishing goodies up an 8% grade at 65 mph+. I know I would buy this model again.
1996 Ford F350 4wd LB
I use this truck like a truck. I don't expect it to be fun or drive like a car. I haul hay and horses. It restored my faith in American built vehicles. For 11 years I drove it with virtually no repairs and only casual maintenance. Today I will replace the u joints, some seals, a cracked manifold but overall, still just an excellent workhorse doing what it was designed to do. Other than brake linings, trans flush, radiator flush, and oil that is all I have done since I purchased with 3,000 miles on it.
Great truck
Absolutely love this truck. Have always loved the body style and this is the last year it was made. Bought the truck with 200,000 miles on it and only had to replace the glow plugs (common on these engines). Other than oil changes and usual wear parts like brakes and tie rod ends, I haven't had to spend a dime on it. Rides a little rought but I have a 6 inch lift on a 1 ton truck so it comes with the territory. I'll drive this one till it can't be driven any more and then probably look for another one.
If you could only own one truck
I bought this new in '97, still own it and probably will never have to buy another truck. I know that I rated the fuel mileage high - but what do you expect from that engine, nothing but torque and power. Has performed great from the deserts to the colorado mountains and the Maine winters!
Always attracts positive attention.
The truck is a tank! I have been asked to sell it at least a dozen times, very popular body style (1997 - last year of the real truck look). The truck is a power house and is bullet proof. I've towed large boats, trailers with 6000 pound tractors, etc... with ease.

The Rhino Truck
This is a real truck. There is nothing it can't do. It's the most comfortable, powerful and reliable vehicle I've ever owned. It is so long legged the miles just melt under it's feet. Get behind the wheel and you won't believe how it gobbles up the miles. It will surprise you with it's off-road power and capability. Nine years and 214,000 miles and no hint of stopping. At 105,000 miles a diesel mechanic told me it's just now broken in.
Hauls A Business
I bought this truck to replace my Chevy pickup I had. I pull a 28' stock trailer with my Ford truck with no problem. The 7.3L turbo diesel engine is the best diesel ever. My truck has 230,700 miles on it. I have a friend who has the same truck with 435,000 miles on it. These trucks ride like tanks, but pull everything. The truck catches a lot of peoples attentions. A trans and exhaust temp guage helps alot on these trucks.
Best Ever
This is the best truck ever built! I have 300,000 miles on it, and it will still burn the tires off the rims! Nothing else like. It was built when trucks were trucks, men were men, and the women liked us that way!
Incredible Value for my money
I bought this truck 5 years ago, and I've never looked back. I'd been looking for a Dodge with a Cummins engine. However, I stumbled onto this Crew Cab F350 with 7.3 Powerstroke and only 131,000 miles. I'd thought the Ford diesels were a pale imitation of a Cummins diesel. After 5 years of owning this beauty, I don't think so anymore. A legendary engine, in a great chassis! Mine is in nice shape, which makes it a pleasure to own and drive. I do all my own work, and I've found every job to be easier than I expected, whether it be simple maintenance & service or something more 'involved' like brakes or glow plugs. I've had more than 30 vehicles, and this is the longest I've owned any vehicle (I usually sell them and move on to the next, just for the fun of it). I've kept it because it is such a nice truck. I'm going to sell it soon, in order to find one similar with 4wd...... If you're looking for one that looks timeless, performs well, tows like a locomotive, and that you can COUNT ON, I can't say enough good about the old Ford OBS trucks..... don't think twice about buying one; you won't regret it!

Tank
Great truck that does everything I want. You don't buy a 1-ton for comfort and fuel economy - you buy it to work. This truck has been driven hard without a whimper. Perhaps the best looking OEM PU ever. As with all Ford trucks of that body style, fuel pumps and power steering pump are poorly designed. Doesn't seem to have the power a 460 should have, but it does have oversize tires and has lived a rough life of driving into trees, pulling trees, and being covered in mud.
SUPER DUALLY
JUST HAD THIS TRUCK FOR ABOUT 2 1/2 MONTHS. BOUGHT IT AS A 9 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH JUST 38,000 MILES ON IT. I SPECIFICALLY BOUGHT IT TO PULL A 5TH WHEEL CAMPER. SO FAR, IT IS A JEWEL. MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER, STYLE AND HANDLING ARE EXCELLENT. I GET COMPLIMENTS EVERYWHERE I GO. OKAY, I'VE ONLY PUT 1,000 OF MY OWN MILES ON IT. HOWEVER, I INTEND TO KEEP IT FOR A LONG TIME. THE MPG IS POOR AT ABOUT 11MPG...BUT, HEY, YOU DON'T BUY THIS KIND OF TRUCK FOR GAS MILEAGE. YOU BUY IT FOR DURABILITY, FLEXIBILITY AND DRIVEABILITY. OH, YEAH, IT WILL DO ANYTHING YOU WANT OR NEED IT TO DO. JUST CALL ME BUBBA.
What a Beast
This is by far the best truck ever made. This could only be made by ford. The 7.3 diesel engine will last forever and the body style is beautiful
Last of a breed
Purchased used in July of 2003, this pick-up has been very reliable for me. Ride is typical for a truck with a live front axle and one ton suspension. The 460 V-8 averages 8 mpg in the city, 12 on the highway. Twin fuel tanks allow a 500 mile range, but a fill-up from empty can drain your bank account faster than a weekend in Vegas. Everything is still working on this beast and no rust has developed despite living in a region of the country where the roads are heavily salted in the winter. The low range in 4WD is extremely low and has taken me to places where I would never have taken a 1/2 ton 4WD pickup. Overall I have been very happy with this truck!
Best truck
I love the way it drives. Inteiar comfort is great. Looks awsome. Pulls trealer great.
Good Truck
this is my first truck and it has been a blast to own. The 4x4 works great and this truck tows just about anything you put behind it. The ride is a little stiff, but if I'd wanted a car, I'd have bought a car.
The Best Damn Truck I've ever owned
I bought this truck a year old with only 800 miles in Fairbanks Alaska. I changed out the antifreeze to handle - 60 and colder temperatures and added some synthetic oils. This truck has never quit on me in the coldest and hotest temperatures. I have over loaded and over towed the recommended allowances and yet the truck is still tough. I have not looked at another truck, due to it's reliability and dependability. For deisel mileage, I'm getting about 16mpg, not bad for a 1 ton. It's a plane and simple truck, but that's what a truck is suppose to be. Not a car.
Excellent condition
This is a great truck. Very realiable. Very clean. Looks and runs excellent. Well maintained
F350
Very Reliable and stylish with the customize package. Lots of power and acceleration. Redesigned engine burns very clean.
Ford F-350 4 Dr XL Crew Cab long bed 7.3 diesel
This is the best truck I have had ever and I would never trade or get rid of it for anything else. This truck is built to last forever.
Great
The best truck I have ever owed. Stong, Tough, and built to last
Not Bad Diesel F350
This isn't a bad older F350 diesel. Works well for towing our smaller 5th wheel with power and economy. Interior isn't as refined as the newer trucks, but it works for us.
One Tough Truck
This truck can do anything I've ever tried to do. No excuses, one tough and capable truck. 7.3 liter turbo diesel with the 4.10 gears can pull or haul just about anything.
Turbo Ford yes!!
This truck has been every thing I was looking for when I bought it . We pull our 5th wheel camper or our tractor loader. both put us in to the 19,000 lb area . Our 94 turbo diesel does the job and than some. I plan on keeping it till it's ten and than I'll look at what is on the market than .
Truly an amazing truck
I have ZERO complaints. 318k working miles when I had to swap out the motor. Lost three cylinders and she was still going. I have pushed this truck to the breaking point of its abilities. I will never sell it and while parts are getting harder and harder to find, and I suspect the steering column will be the next big job, nonetheless. Nobody builds them like this anymore. Nobody, not even Ford.

Ford Builds Tough Trucks
7.3L diesel makes this Ford truck tough enough to pull mesquite tree taproots with only a chain. Towing package makes for a slightly rougher ride than my wife's passenger car, but the clearance is more than enough to use in the mesquite and cactus. Enough room to put three boys in the back seat and still have a conversation between the front seat passengers. Body style doesn't belong to anything but a FORD!

LAST OF THE GREAT BREED OF FORD TRUCKS.THE CAB IS MUCH SMALLER THAN THE NEWER MODELS BUT THE STYLING IS ALOT NICER TO LOOK AT.
Ford Trucks
I have had a couple of Ford trucks and have had found them to have chronic transmission problems. Just put a new transmission in my current truck. (1995 Ford F350 4x4 dually diesel
Used Truck from Cal Worthington
It has been macgivered together on the front end (Cal Worthington?) not having a shop and time to go thru this truck before I bought it was a big mistake. I'm sure it would have been a good truck if it was not abused and salvaged to be put out for sale by a dealership. Any one else would have paid to have it fixed right. Watch out who you do business with!
nice truck
This is a wonderful truck you can do anything you want>
