2016 F150 XLT 4x4 3.5L Ecoboost Engine

I just purchased a new 2016 F150 truck and overall it's a good truck. Some of my concerns are as follows. 1.) I wish Ford would put more technology and engineering into the suspension. I know it is a truck, but can't a truck be engineered accommodate different driving conditions? Say two settings; one for hauling and one for general driving. Do I have to get beat up all the time just so I can have a truck for occasional hauling and towing? 2.) The transmission seams to shift too soon most of the time. I've read where the transmission will adapt to a driver, but overall it drops into second gear too soon, and is a little slow to downshift when necessary. Currently I have 500 miles on the truck and I hope to get 100,000. Time will tell. If you consider getting the 2.7L Ecoboost engine know that it has an auto shut off. In other words the engine will automatically shut off at stops. It can be turned off but you will need to turn it off each time you start the engine. Another thought is to make sure you buy from a knowledgeable sales person. There are so many options when it comes to towing and hauling you better do your homework.

Recently purchased my 2016 F150 in January. Going from a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but have owned and still own older versions of the F150. The decision to go to aluminum body panels, based upon my current experience, should steer potential buyers away. Within two months of owning my truck I am already in the process of having a door skin replaced due to parking lot damage. I have never seen a vehicle exterior take as much damage as I have with this vehicle. In 30+ years of driving and being a car guy it's unacceptable to me. The fit and finish of the body panels, and the fact that I can fart in the general direction of this truck and cause it to dent blows my mind. The bluetooth connectivity also drives me nuts with its on/off, poor voice recognition, etc... I rarely call the number I want on the first try. How the system comes up with the name/numbers is beyond me, and my full-time job is in data and analytics. Also not a fan of the dash instruments, and radio. Feels like everything is just out of reach, and the controls aren't as intuitive as they should be (placement and overall functionality). I don't need and have never asked for all the technology in the truck. It's all one big distraction. Plus how annoying is the auto shut off? For christ sake, when I step on the pedal I don't need to now learn I need to allow for another two or 3 seconds of lead time before pulling out onto the highway! As someone who grew up in a Ford truck family I'm very disappointed with their overall product. In all honesty, my bone stock 1951 Ford F1 is a far better version of what a Ford truck should be. I can see why there are current class action lawsuits against the aluminum on other models. Ford leadership and their engineers should be ashamed of what they'very done to the brand. I got rid of this blasphemy after 5 months. I'd rather go find a 20 to 30 year old version of this truck that still runs and drive it till it falls apart than waste another dime on anything new. I don't need nor will support Ford learning what it's going to take to build a self driving vehicle that I don't need nor want. Give me a vehicle I can freely control that gets me from point A to B with some minimal comfort and that's good enough for me.

Traded my 2009 King Ranch 5.4 V8 super crew 6.5' bed for the new one. Have 3.5 V6 turbo and a short 5.5' bed. I will miss my longer bed. I could not locate a crew cab with the 6.5' bed. Truck too new to really rate it but so far so good. Many improvements to the sync system and some useful electronics for safety and ease of driving. Overall, very happy until something goes wrong. Did not like the double glass roof because of the heat it let in past a flimsy thin cover. Had a window tinter put solar tint which helped.

I bought a new 2016 F150 XLT supercrew in June of 2016, The touch screen has been malfunctioning since day 1, the first week I owned it, the dealer had it for 6 days putting a new screen in , only to have to do it again 3 weeks later followed by 3 modules and several software updates to fix the problems. there also was a recall on the rear door, when it is cold , you cannot get out of the left rear door, we did the recall repair, the problem was still there on the next cold day. the backup sensors are also malfunctioning and have been replaced twice. The truck looks and drives great, but my 2003 Toyota sequia had 230000 miles on it ,and it was more reliable than this thing is new, never again will i buy a Ford.

**UPDATE** I've had my 2016 F150 for almost two years now and I still love it! I've put 18,000 miles on it and it's drives the same as when I drove it off the lot. I really only have three complaints... The sunroof had a problem closing and when I took it into the dealership they said it was a faulty part from the factory. It took them 14 days to get my truck back to me. They had to reprogram my computer because it sat with the battery disconnected for so long. And I still have issues with the sunroof closing. They tell me it's a "programming issue." The rear sliding window has developed a squeak when it's open. It's maddening and is worse on warm days. It's not enough of a bother to take in to Ford and have them look at it. The Satellite Radio would have to be my biggest complaint. It is spotty. I can drive it through the mountains and across the open desert and I get great reception. I drive through town and lose satellite signal a half dozen time on my 6 mile drive to work. Again, I'm told it's a programming issue. None of these issues make me regret my decision to purchase my truck, I still love it and hope to have it for many years. Let me just say that I grew up in a Chevy household and I previously owned and loved my Ram. When it came time to replace my 00 Ram 1500 I was positive that I would be buying a new Ram truck. My husband convinced me to drive the new F150. I found both an F150 and the Ram 1500 online at my local dealers, both had comparable options and pricing and I scheduled the test drives for the same night. At the end of the night my mind was easily made up. I went back the next day and bought the Ford F150 Lariat FX4. I am in LOVE with this truck. The quality of the interior is superior, the handling is amazing, both when I am towing and when I'm not. The cab is super quiet, the ride is great, especially for a truck and it drives like a truck. I like that. It does not drive like some oversized car. I have the 2.7l V6, and gas mileage is better then I expected. I get about 15-16 mixed driving and 19-20 highway. I live in Southern California where we base travel on time not distance, because traffic here sucks, so I'm pretty impressed. LOL! The truck has enough power to get out of its own way, nice acceleration getting on the highway, but handy enough to mange the traffic and get in and out of the parking garages. I purchased the Super-Crew Cab and there is more then enough room in the back for my 6'4" son. The back seat floor is flat, so when you fold the seats up you have a ton of room to transport items that you might not want to toss in the bed. I have the 501A package and all the options included in that are fantastic. I love the remote start and keyless entry. I did have the dealer install running boards. Even as tall as I am (5'9"), I didn't want to break down the edge of the drivers seat climbing in and out. Overall I love this truck and would recommend to anyone looking for a new vehicle.
