5.0 Platinum is the way to go

Bought my 2012 Platinum 5.0 V8 2 wheel drive in 2015 (and I’m still driving it daily today). Bought it with 124,000 miles and as of 1/4/21 I have 264,000 miles on it. Pros- more options on this truck then most Cadillac’s and all of the options are still functioning as they did in 2012 with the exception of 1 power running board as of this review. With regular maintenance I have had no big repairs other then normal wear and tear (tires, brakes, hoses and ironically 3 batteries). I am currently replacing the front hubs. Cons - The truck had a ticking sound coming from the motor since purchase, still does today. The transmission has been re programmed due to a recall and still has the same problem. You cannot update the Navagation after 2017 and parts for the power deployment running boards are not available, but you can replace the whole side for $1300.00. I strongly recommend yearly maintenance on the power running boards specifically lubricating all of the brackets. The truck still averages 18 miles per gallon city/hwy with premium fuel, full synthetic oil and I use the recommended antifreeze. I have owned a lot of Ford vehicles and this one is by far the best one. I’ve enjoyed this Ford so much, I have purchased stock in the company. The only complaint I have is that my truck is not in the drop down box under “model” for this review.

No a truck fan, however this crew cab was full sized inside and out. Bed had lots of room for my load. interior seemed plush and comfortable. In 4h this truck would throw you into the seat. 2h was perfect for everything else. Seemed to get great gas mileage also.

2012 3.5L EcoBoost F150 XLT 4x4

I just purchased this truck after driving 2008 and 2010 F150's for the past four years. Both of the older trucks were great, however I never felt the 5.4 liter V8 had a lot of get up and go (had both the 3.73 and the 3.55 rear ends). The 5.4 pulled my boat, however you could feel the truck working on hills and passing on the highway. With the new EcoBoost the power is much more noticable and it tows the boat effortlessly. The ride and steering also feel much improved over the previous models. The exterior styling is well done, the truck has a very strong stance. The interior is spacious and comfortable with a nice wide armrest that folds up for an extra seat on the front bench.

When you are going from a Shelby GT500 to a pickup truck just any truck will not do. My Raptor has smoother ride on bumpy roads and its preformance helps make up for not driving the Shelby. It is great in the winter snow as well.
