Used 2011 Ford F-150 Consumer Reviews
A++++ For the 2011 F-150
I'm averaging 21.7 MPG with the new 3.7 V6. The engine has plenty of power for what I'm using it for. Truck has been trouble free so far. The ride is good, quiet and handling is excellent.
5 Years of Reliability
The F150 Super Crew with 3.5 eco boost engine (Edmunds doesn't have this selection on their pull down menu) has been very reliable and has plenty of trailer pulling power. Actually fuel mileage with regular fuel (up to 10% ethanol) has been 16 city and 19 highway, if you can find non-ethanol fuel you'll see 19 city and up to 24 highway a substantial difference. I have 46,000 miles on my truck and have just replaced the battery. You can't beat the rear cab for it's roominess, and ease for getting in and out of, Ford should had put a grab handle on the drivers side. I strongly recommend have a spray in bed liner done to help preserve the truck bed. The only issues that I have encountered: 1- I did have power issues during a rain storm on several occasions, Ford did a mod on the intercooler to correct the problem. 2. The airbag light kept coming on, Ford replaced the drivers door cable which had issues, this took 4 trips to the dealer to resolve. 3. Rear window/mirror defogger failed, Ford replaced the rear window to resolve the problem. I strongly suspect that Ford (not just Ford) uses non-ethanol fuel when they come up with their fuel mileage figures, because I have never owned a vehicle that got their stated mileage unless I run non-ethanol fuel which as most of you know cost from $.50 to $1.50 per gallon more to purchase if you can find it.

What a truck!!
I recently purchase the 2011 F150 Platinum with 6.5 ft bed and the 3.5 l Ecoboost engine. This is an amazing truck. The fit and finish of the cabin is second to none.... Ford has thought of everything. The ride is super quiet and feels like I am sitting in my living room. I have to be careful as to my speed due to the fact that at 55 MPH it feels that I am hardly moving. The truck also looks great from the outside. The 6.5 ft bed is a must on a crew cab truck. It is much more proportional although it makes finding a parking spot a bit harder! I do worry a bit about the open grill for the Ecoboost engine but from what I have been reading it should not be an issue. Overall, excellent truck!
Ecoboost great concept, terrible execution in first year!
When it works, the 3.5L twin turbo V-6 known as the "Ecoboost" is amazing. 21+ mpg, 365 HP & 425 trq. A great combination of daily driver with nearly 10K tow capacity. First 55K miles were great, but the 2011 EB relies on multiple ECU "systems" to attain this peak performance, and if anything is not working perfectly, mileage, power, and driveability fall-off quickly. Ford still has not acknowledged any issues that do exist with the 2011 version of this motor. Humidity. Coils. Valvetrain rattles at startup. Hood shaking misfire at idle. Black on chrome tailpipe. I would not buy a 2011 EB again. Maybe 2014, now that the 2011 bugs Ford never admitted have been worked out. 2011 EB - Stay away!!
Love The Ecoboost!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently purchased a new F150 xlt with an ecoboost and the off road package. I have owned quite a few trucks and this one is in a class of it's own. The power from the ecoboost is off the charts I am averaging 19 MPG with most of my driving being around town. Keep in mind this is with 3.73 gears, 32 inch tires and the vehicle has not even been broken in yet. I expect those numbers will be even better once it's broken in. The new 6 speed automatic is very smooth and responsive. The steering and handeling are excellent. It's has a great turning radius, is very agile for a truck, and is very easy to control. The build quality is top notch. This is hands down the best truck you can buy.
Talk to me after 100k if you get ther
I have owned my 2011 f150 3.5 ecoboost xlt since new (4 miles on it). I love this truck and took great care of it. I maintained the truck personally and took great care in every way. I have invest a lot of time and money in the body of this truck (undercoating and spayed bed and wheel wells) to ensure the body would last as long as I assumed the motor would. I mean, why wouldn't the truck run for 200k plus?...... So I thought. This is the 3rd ford truck I have owned and every one till now has lasted well over 200k. So on to the issue..... I know my truck and the engine very well. I started noticing a slight rattle upon startup at around 112,000.00 miles. At first I figured it may be the valves clicking due to thinning of the oil due to heat and breakdown. So I changed the oil and it got better. I think it was mainly better because it was winter at the time and the oil is thicker when cold. So I made it to about 117000 and it is mis summer now 2016 and the rattle has gotten worse. It only occurs on the first startup of the day. So I looked up the issue and found the timing chain tsb. I got a few quotes verbally over the phone and was looking at a 1500 dollar repair to replace the chain. So I bit the bullet and took it in. I dropped off at a ford dealership and they called me the next morning telling me that I need a New motor and turbos and it would cost $11,000.00. Note I had no check engine light, full power, running just under 18 mpg. Other than the rattle at startup there was absolutly no reason to believe there was an issue. The concerning thing to me is that the dealership seemed to know exactly what was going to happen to my motor with a quick once over. Didn't even need to tear it down to review. They just knew. So I guesse ford is designing truck to basically blow up at just over 100k. I have contacted and spoke to the "regional customer service rep". And all they said is that they have no programs for this to help me out. In other words sorry for your luck..... They said they will get me a x plan code if I would like to trade in for a new truck. This is totally unacceptable to me and I will continue to go after ford for this. Spending I've 40k on a vehicle should get you further than this. Not to mention for knowing of the issue and not doing anything to help current to warn future owners. I fear for all of the other f150 ecoboost owners who have yet to put this kind of miles in thier truck. Big you are under warranty still I would get this checked out ASP. As for me, I will be trading in my truck for as much as I can giving the issue and buying a new dodge or Chevy. Goodbye ford forever!!! Hopefully best selling truck record will change in the near future due to this lack of quality and customer service. What goes around comes around. Buyer beware!

3.6L V6 Ouch!
I purchased a 2011 F-150 Crew with 3.7L V6 mainly for gas mileage. 2 months later when the temperature outside got over 90 and in traffic, the truck had a vibration or resonance in the cab when idling with A/C and cooling fans running. I brought the truck to the dealer, but they could not find anything. I noticed another F- 150 with the 3.6 V6 that had revisions to the exhaust piping (Braided hose right before muffler and different mounts). I showed a picture to the Service Rep. He said he asked Ford Hot Line and they know nothing about it. I feel the vibration was coming from the exhaust system. It was so annoying, I traded the truck in for an Fx2 with 5.0L, big difference.
Ecoboost problems with power and MPG
I purchased a 2011 Ford F-150 with 3.5L ecoboost with the hope that it would be a good vehicle. When I first bought the truck I was getting 15 MPG city and 22 MPG highway. After only 8000 km of mileage, I was seeing a drop in fuel economy and power. I was only able to get 10 MPG in city and 17 on the highway. The motor was also more sluggish with increased turbo lag. I tried to have the problem fixed by the dealer on 5 separate occasions without anything being done and no actual problem being identified. The truck appeared to be dying and ford was unable to determine why. After 12000 km, I decided to trade it in on another brand of truck. This will be the last Ford for this customer.
Own up to your problems Ford or we won't own You!
Do Not buy a Ford Ecoboost. My husband & I bought a 2011 Ford F150 Ecoboost we loved it so fun to drive, but 70k miles in we started having engine issues. Took it in to the dealer for them to tell me the timing chain was shot and it was a $4k fix with no guarantee that it would fix the problem. A quick google search of this vehicle and I was shocked to see we were not the only one with this same exact issue. There are YouTube videos and forums galore about this engine issue and No recalls from Ford. We got rid of it yesterday before it left us broke and on the side of the road. I won't be returning to a Ford anytime soon after that bad taste in my mouth.
Disappointed, Nightmare, I feel the same.
I have a 2011 F-150 3.5 twin turbo Eco Boost, I bought it with 50,000 miles from Bob Maxey Ford dealer in Detroit Michigan in 2013. It cost $29,000 I thought I had something. It road good for the first 6 month. I mad sure I kept my oil change because my brother have the same vehicle and had problems with his Timing chain which was costly. In November of 2015 my Truck stopped and would not run in the middle of Southfield Rd, Southfield MI, so I had it towed to Avis Ford. They wanted $1945.00 to diagnosis the engine because they could not till me what was wrong from the initial survey. I called Ford customer service because my warranty was over after 60,000 mile. I only had a little over 100,000 mile on this Built Ford Tough Truck. Ms. Jane stated that Ford would have nothing to do with the tear down of this truck and they may help me if I took it to a ford dealership. I went to the Veteran Administration for monetary help, and tried to qualify for their trust funds, they recommended several auto shop but I did not qualify. They said that I could afford to pay for my repairs. I has this truck towed to AAMCO They gave me a good price of $2388.00 for labor and parts, there is a Technical Service Bulletin on the Truck TSB1 and TSB2. Ford is very aware of the problems with the Timing Chain on this make an model of this truck. AAMCO repaired the timing chain issue and did a pressure test only to find that the pressure on cylinder 2 3 6 was 65 70 70 and should be 130 in order to be in spec. Now the head has to be sent to a shop for repair and the 4 valves per cylinder replaced. at least another $1500.00. I am hurt. paying on a Ford truck that broken down on me and my 13 year old son and I must still pay the truck note. I am communicating with Ford customer services but will not receive and help because it is not a Ford dealership. I am pissed because Ford Motor Company knows about this timing chain issue, they have a TSB explaining this issue, and this may cost me $4000.00 that I don't have. Built Ford Tough!!!!
Believe the Hype
I realize the hype around the ecoboost motor sounds beyond believable but as a new owner I say believe it. I have owned a number of domestic trucks, big v 8's to Diesel's as well as a number of european sedans and my last ride was an Escalade. The F150 Platinum is on par with everyone of those vehicles for fit and finish. The performance and fuel economy of the ecoboost is amazing. Quiet ride, over the top technology and a huge discount off the MSRP and this is easily the best vehicle I have purchased in the last number of years. Nice job Ford!
ecoboost, tough but sensitive
Love at first sight, that was me and my truck. It was a compromise for me to buy a truck with a V6. Then I drove it. Per the salesman's instruction I stomped on the accelerator while merging onto the highway and was promptly rewarded with a pretty aggressive push back into the seat. So, yeah...nice. Further research told me not to expect Ford's advertised fuel economy of 20+ mpg to be my reality. More like 17mpg for a tenderfoot driver or 14-15mpg for someone who drives like me. Fair enough. It's a truck, nor a Prius. Also, I have owned Japanese and German turbos in the past so I wasn't scared of a more modern take on achieving horsepower. The interior is spacious. Cavernous compared to my 1991 F-250. I am not in the same financial realm as GMC and Chevrolet...which is weird because nobody seems willing to loan me billions of dollars. They got a bailout but their prices don't reflect any appreciation or acknowledgment. Comparable Dodge products offer none of the comfort or resale value and their interiors feel more like a failed attempt to deliver happiness on a budget. The seats of my truck are cloth and that's fine with me. I have 3 kids, an English Mastiff, and all four of them treat my vehicles with much less reverence than I would like. So my truck is adorned with WeatherTech floor mats and water-resistant Skanda seat covers. Hooray! The Synch interface is simple to operate for a family that uses Android phones and tablets. The climate control is dependable and comfortable. Cold in the summer and HOT in the winter. All controls and gauges are easily read and understandable. I drive with the wheel tilted full down more like a car and I am always aware of my truck's operation profile. The exterior is strong. The nose-down stance is great for aerodynamics, I'm sure. However, I prefer my truck to be truck-ish so I installed a leveling kit and like the results much more than the factory offering. With the leveling kit in place there is more room for wheels and tires to fill the wheelwells. The bed is coated with LineX lining and it is perfect. The finished grain is ok for keeping most heavier things in place...particularly if I put down a rubber mat or a moving blanket. I've seen other linings that use a super aggressive grain that is very uncomfortable on kids knees and bare feet while at the beach, lake, or camping. Now...here's my little testimonial regarding MY OWN observations of the gremlins that reside in MY truck. The plugs are not going to make it to the factory designated change interval. The motor eats plugs like my kids eat Doritos on a 4th of July picnic. The result is an unpleasant and unexpected cut-out while under acceleration. Not Formula 1 acceleration, although it definitely would. I mean graceful and passive acceleration from going 75mph up to 80mph to pass a slow motorist on a four lane interstate, at 2500rpm. The jedi-master-mechanic who maintains my truck says this is the nature of the beast. We've simply accepted the unpleasant fact that plugs and coils are going to have to be changed at a higher frequency than Ford dictates. And Bosch platinum plugs are not a fix. The force of the turbos will extinguish the spark like a water hose versus a match. I'm not a mechanic, but I trust mine and he tells me to just plan for more frequent plug and coil changes. So far, so good. What I can do, and have done is to address each and every scheduled maintenance item puntually and make routine checks along the way. This isn't my dad's 1978 ford truck. Technology and redundancy of systems monitoring have supplanted the good old days of the average weekend wrencher. My 1979 CJ-7 was a diy dream come true. This F-150 bears more in common with my BMW 525i or my Audi A4 than it ever would to my old Jeep. Accepted. It's an overall victory. It's just sensitive. Finally, my family and I were returning home from a vacation this fall when we were rear-ended on a congested urban interstate. We were hit with enough force that we were pushed into the truck in front of us. The bed of my truck was collapsed inward and the rigid tonneau cover was pushed into the back passenger side window (not the side window, but the right 1/3 window immediately being my son's car seat. The window shattered, the bed was kaput, both bumpers were buggered, the guy who hit us actually sheared the 2" ball from my receiver hitch insert. Long story short, the truck was not pretty. Longer story shorter, my wife, my 3 young kids, and myself were fine. We actually stayed long enough to fill out the accident report and then off we went. We drove another 300 miles with duct tape over the window but all major systems worked just like they always did. The truck is now repaired and serviced and raring to go another 70K miles...or 170K, I hope. Yes, I love it. Yes, my family loves it, and yes, I would recommend it. It just needs more attention than a truck of old.

2011 F-150 FX4 SuperCab (3.5L V6 EcoBoost - not V8 as classified above)
I've had this truck for just over a year now. It's already made two cross-country trips and has been driven everywhere from the Colorado mountains to the Arizona desert. I have not had any problems whatsoever with the reliability or performance of the truck. It rides extremely comfortably and handles well in terms of breaking, acceleration, and turning. I have not gotten the advertised fuel milage based on the calculations the Sync system displays. I got 18.0 MPG driving from San Diego to Charleston, and get 17.3 MPG averaged city and highway regularly. Still good for a full sized truck. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase. If I had to do it again, I'd get the same truck.
Mediocre
I bought the 2011 XLT 4x4 ecoboost supercrew as I needed a larger truck for kiddos. Having driven a Tacoma, that I LOVED, for 13 years, the Ford was going to have to win me over. The acceleration was strong, and the tech features on the inside were pretty good, but that's where the positives ceased. The looks were bland. As others mentioned, the fuel economy was well below advertised - 14.5mpg in mixed driving in the winter. The turbo would flutter on and off under very light acceleration. I didn't want to be holding the bag when it fell apart so I sold it. I come from a Ford family, but if this is what the best selling truck is. No thanks. I'm driving another Tacoma(4D), and love it.
Bad Ecoboost Engine!
I bought my truck used with 55K miles on it. Ever since I bought the truck it has had the common issue of engine shuttering and going into limp mode. I have spent over $6000 attempting to fix the issue. I bought new Full Race Intercooler, throttle body, cold air intake, turbo power pipes, new coils, new plugs 4 times and new exhaust. It still shuttered every time I sped up causing the condensation build up from the intercooler to enter the engine all at once and foul the engine. I then went as far as drilling holes into the lower intercooler, engine side, of the pipe at its lowest point to let all the water continue to drip out. It was ALWAYS Dripping all the time. Yesterday while hauling a car trailer with the truck from Colorado to Texas, all the sudden the engine shuttered one last time, as I again coasted to the side of the road only to find engine oil coming from under the engine. There were NO warnings!!! NO rise in engine temp during entire trip, and engine lights. When I checked the oil it was still within the "add oil" hash marks even after losing some on the ground. After towing it home I have since found out it broke a connecting rod and the engine is finished at only 101753 miles on it and I will now have to buy a new engine!! I feel the issue that Ford has had all along with the condensation build up in the intercooler is the ABSOLUTE cause of this engine failure!!! Constant and at times VERY severe shuttering will cause severe damage to the connecting rods, crank and pistons while misfiring like this, causing the engine to sooner of later fail like mine just did.

2011 F-150 4X4 SCrew w/Ecoboost (3.5L)
This is my first Ford. Ever. When it came time to buy a truck I considered many things. Not indicative of the truck, but surely a measure of the company, was Ford's refusal to take bailout money. The other major "plus" was my review of the Ecoboost engine. Lots of hype, yes, but the motor delivers! I've run about 29,000 miles under her in the last 20 months and I get 17 mpg city and 20 - 21 hwy. Throw 10% ethanol in it and mileage drops 2 mpg both ways, though. Power? TONS of it. I have not hauled a trailer yet. Comfort? Strangely, this truck is more comfortable than any other vehicle I have owned. Twenty-hour drive coming up? OK. Bring it on... Incredible comfort.
Best Truck on the Market!
The below is ranked from the bottom up. I looked at all the Trucks out there. Toyota was plain and not worth the value, there high marks are over rated. The Nissan was pretty cool but the model has not been update since 2004 so it seemed dated. The GM line was very nice but a tad plain in styling on the Exterior and Interior, but a great truck! The Dodge was a close second and the ride was awesome, great exterior and interior. But the Ford came out on top. Hot styling, great interior, High Technology in a truck package! Overall the best Truck on the Road with a very high quality of fit and finish! Quiet and a decent ride quality. Plenty of power and proving to be great on mileage .
2011 ECOJUNK
1. Don't buy this truck. 2. The motor has issues and Ford does not know how to fix them. I have had mine in the shop at least 5 times for the same issues since the week I bought it. 3. The gas mileage estimates are not even close. If I drive 65 on a flat highway, I may get 17.5 MPG. On average, my truck get's 14.9 MPG. 4. The suspension is garbage and Ford does not know how to fix it. I was literally given a can of WD40 by the Ford Service Writer as the solution to the constant squeaking. He said just keep spraying the WD40 on the bushings to stop the noise. I sprayed daily for a week and no improvement. My neighbors think I drive a 60 year old truck.

2011 F 150 4wd ecoboost experience....
When its well its great! Purchased NEW, Doors clunk on rough road surfaces. Been adjusted at dealership 4 different times. Doors still clunking. Ford has NO solution and will not admit to the problem....numerious calls to Ford customer relations been stonewalled! They can't fix this in warantee but say NOW it can be fixed out of warantee if I pay for it! This is @%x#!!!. Timing chain "Death Rattle"... Ford say this won't hurt a thing till it breaks or jumps time and and destroys motor Ford ignored this in warantee but says it's a $2800 problem for me now it's out of warantee...Comfortable,fun truck to drive!! Oh, poor millage.. don't believe Ford's 22mph claim, it' more like 12 mpg!
Amazing Truck
The truck was purchased new and now has 7,700 miles. The amazing features of this truck are its efficiency and power. Average mpg is 22.5 combined city and highway. Highway mileage has hit 26.2 mpg. Although the truck is a basic work-truck model, getting the 8 foot bed was well worth it ($300 extra), and so was the premium sound system. The ride is very smooth and the cabin is quiet. We traded in a PT-Cruiser for this truck, and the mileage is nearly identical, but the power is much greater. The truck is amazing.
Comfort is king
Gas mileage is not what u buy this for. If its room, power and comfort.... Go for it! Been on 2 long trips with 4 adults since purchasing this beast. Outstanding highway vehicle. Very satisfying. Around town is great too. I keep it as spotless as possible because it looks sharp.

I need higher IQ!
I have never owned a truck that was smarter than me. Even after five years of ownership, I think I am still learning. Having five trailers, it’s a cinch go back up to a trailer hitch, thanks to the rear camera. My around the city gas mileage is above what the sticker showed and if I’m not careful, which I am, the back tires will spin on pavement. A local police chief drove it when new and said he was going to six cylinder Ecoboost in his patrol cars! It is not lacking for power after 60,000 miles on the engine.

Should have stayed with Ram
5.0 coyote replaced under warranty at 58k tapping noise. After new motor had oil leak tapping noises from pass side head. Sync module went bad. Back up camera quit. Rear window defrost quit/shattered window. Vibration when towing. Third brake light was leaking now cab corners and rockers are rusting threw. Been doing research and all these issues are common with the 12th gen f150. If it wasn't for all the problems would be great truck it's a shame that ford doesn't care. I went threw hell to get motor replaced and didn't offer a rental car

Beware of EcoBoost (3.5L) problems
We were very please with the truck until I started noticing strong gasoline smell in my oil right after the warranty ran out. I changed the oil and sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs and they confirmed there was much more fuel in the oil sample than normal. The new oil picked up the same strong gasoline smell after the next trip. Blackstone Labs sent me a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 15-0003, "3.5L GTDI - FUEL ODOR FROM ENGINE OIL AND/OR ENGINE OIL LEVEL OVERFULL") and told me this was a problem they had been seeing on a number of EcoBoost engines. I did a little research and this sure was a known problem, but I could find no recalls. I called the local Ford dealerships and they all wanted to charge $200-$250 to diagnose my problem. They could not guarantee me that Ford would cover the diagnostic costs or repair costs (~$600+) to fix it (one dealership service manager was very frank and told me it was highly unlikely). I have called Ford Corporate Headquarters three times over the last two years to get them to cover the repair but they refused. It did not matter this was a known design problem for 2011-2014 EcoBoosts, that Ford acknowledged with a Service Bulletin. Ford's poor design rests on the customer's lap to pay and fix. I understand that complex systems can have problems, but the manufacturer needs to own those problems and make it right. I used to be a loyal Ford truck buyer (this was my 3rd Ford truck and 4th Ford vehicle). I am NEVER buying a Ford ever again. BTW, the stopping distance was pretty poor (compared to my much heavier F250 diesel and every other vehicle I have driven), and the brakes were definitely too weak for trailer towing (even a light trailer) and I could never get the original dealer to acknowledge the issue.

Excellent basic truck, 8yr review
3.7L V6 (305HP) Regular cab. Excellent work truck. Have owned since new. Plenty of power and reliability. Only replaced climate control solenoid, everything else is good. I regularly haul 1/2 yard of rock and soil. Very glad I purchased the base V6 engine from what I have read on other reviews. I expect to keep this truck another 10 years. I change the oil every 10k miles whether it needs it or not.

Excellent truck for towing
I got the 3.5 Ecoboost with the rearend that allows for 11,300 lb towing. What a great vehicle. it outpulls my old 5.3 Silverado. The comfort of the ride is great and we love to take it on trips. We haul sheep and equipment and have pushed the upper end of the towing. no problems and exceptional power. mileage is about 13 to 14 in town and 18-19 on road with the 10% ethanol
The Brown Bomber Strikes
I have owned many trucks but this Ford is by far the most comfortable to ride and drive. Yes, is was a bit pricey but after 193,000 miles with no, zero, nothing major ever going wrong I have to said its worth every dime.

6.2 Platinum 4x4
Love it! If 14-15 mpg doesn't bother you, then you will love this truck. Suspension, interior, sound system, the exhaust and THE ENGINE...everything is refined, smooth and very comfortable. Very spacious in every seat, huge floor space in rear seat, heated/AC seats front and rear, and all done in a soft leather. I have over 3000 miles on it so far and have no regrets. I have several GM trucks in our fleet, so i have plenty to compare....including a Denali. This one beats them all....easily. Best truck I have owned.
Ford F-150 Supercrew review
The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular cars or trucks out on the road in the past few years. I was lucky enough to purchase one a few years ago. I am a proud owner of the Ford F-150 Super Crew. The Ford F-150 Super Crew is one of the best trucks I have ever had the chance to drive. The pure size of the truck makes it that much better to haul equipment or even supplies for the job that you are working on. It can hold a lot of equipment for any sport you want to play. When choosing a truck you always need to look at the durability. With the F-150 and its Steel frame it’s durability is top of the class in regards to trucks. Since purchasing this truck in 2011 we have had no issues with it. The only thing we have brought it in for was for its regular oil change. We have a cabin in the North Woods of Michigan and it takes a beating up there but has never failed on us or had anything break because of it. There are many uses for the Ford F-150. I mainly use it for moving around college and hauling my dirt bikes and ATV’s around when trying to find places to ride. My dad, his two brothers, and their uncle use it for hunting when I am not using it. It has done wonders for their hunting trips being able to carry all the decoys and guns that they have when they go. All five of them fit comfortably in the truck and they are all over 6’2”. When hauling a trailer behind it, it feels like there is nothing back there. When looking at the truck one of the bad things about it would be that the fake chrome on the handles is starting to peel off so it looks cheap when it does. Another would be the cost to fill up the massive 32-gallon tank. Some of the pros are that it is the most reliable truck/car I have ever owned. In conclusion the Ford F-150 would get 5/5 stars in my book. For the beating that my family and myself has put it through it has yet to have anything happen to it, which is exactly, what you want in a truck.

Perfection for Ford
I just pray my next truck is as good as this one has been for the past 5 years. I never had a vehicle that did not need constant maintenance trips to the dealership. I hate to trade it in but....UPDATED 01/22/2017 !!! Traded in my 2011 ford for a 2016 same animal except stepped up to a Lariat. Oh my God what a nice machine. Surpassed my dreams. I have had this rig for a year now and absolutely love it. I say perfection repeated. I have 16000 miles on it now and she has been tested tried and true. Gotta love Ford.

Ecoboost performance issues
Ecoboost provides excellent performance when it runs right. One year later and multiple trips to the dealership to remedy an intermittent power loss and missing on hard acceleration. Gas mileage has been a disappointment. 17 highway and nowhere near the 21 advertised. Plenty of power to tow my classic car and enclosed trailer, but I avoid towing. Can't stand the 5 to 6 mpg when towing. My last service at the dealership was for the 30k service. Found out later I got stiffed for a $200 trans service they never did. When I followed up with the standard customer survey and gave an honest rating I got a nasty text message from technician.
Air conditioning problem!
I purchased the 4x4 with Eco Boost, and its been a great truck. I get many compliments on the look, the royal blue color, and the chrome (plastic) grill. It has 40,000 miles, and just recently I experienced a problem with the air conditioning. When I turn it on, it starts rattling and making a lot of noise. I have to turn it off then back on again several times before it stops. One other minor complaint is when I wash it, drive off, and roll down the windows while it is still wet, a lot of water comes inside. I wish it had those lips above the windows to catch and divert the water running off, like in the older models. It is very likely I will purchase another one in the future.
Worst Purchase of my Adult Life
Coming from a Toyota/Honda - you WILL be disappointed in a Ford. Sure, it has more gadgets, flashy interior, updated styling, etc.. but the maintenance and expensive repairs will eat you alive. Compare either at 100K miles and the difference is clear. The Good: Big fuel tank, means less stops. Interior is nice, Color (Mine is Blue) is really nice. Big back seat area. Also, I was able to get 21-22mpg out of mine during road trips. The Mediocre: Handling and Suspension is just meh. Lackluster is the word. Also, the traction control is a joke compared to my old 2013 Tundra. In 2wd, I was getting stuck in the exact same places that my Tundra would just crawl through without any wheel spin. The Ford would dig a hole and then cut engine power. The 5.0 Engine seems weak for the size of the truck, it does the job, but struggles with a small trailer or load in the bed. The Bad: At 86K miles, this truck needs MAJOR work. It's sad. Rear main seal is leaking enough to leave spots in the driveway. Steering Rack needs replaced due to the "Service Advance Trac" light that is coming on almost daily, which leaves a dead spot in the steering and cuts off the turn signals as well. These are issues that most trucks had covered under the factory warranty, so known issues, but these issues didn't pop up until later. The driveline has a gnarly clunk when leaving from a light or during heavy acceleration. Was told it needed a new driveshaft and slip yoke. Power Steering lines are starting to leak around the fittings. Why this truck is a total turd: For the money, this thing just cant compete with a Tundra. I can get a 2015 Tundra Limited with many more features, a bullet proof driveline, and better warranty and service. The local ford dealer is kind enough, but acknowledge that these issues are known in these trucks, but can't do anything for us. Toyota has always taken care of it's customers, many times well after warranty if it's a known issue. Not finding that kind of support from Ford unfortunately. Resale - ugh... I'm looking at losing 6.5K in just 1/2 a year, in order to avoid all these costly repairs (totalling nearly 5K in just 6 months) from trade-in value. However, given that I simply don't have faith in either the Manufacturer or the product, it's a loss worth taking to get away from this vehicle.Z UPDATE - I DID get away from this Ford F150, and what a blessing it was to finally be ridden of that thing... I wanted to give Ford a chance (thats why I bought it) - but I'm just not cut out for those kinds of repairs/maintenance/dissappointments on a regular basis. Back in a Tundra, and I haven't once looked for a cliff to drive it off of, or a thought of a way to set it on fire... NEW Update - I did hear from Ford asking about the issues with the "Advance Trac" systems. They acknowledged the issue, and wanted to know if I had the truck fixed. I told them they could make 3-4 payments on my Toyota truck if they really wanna find a solution to a Ford. Crickets....

TRADED IN
From the get go... the brakes (front) have a shimmy when braking. This is a problem Ford knows about, but disavows knowledge of it while under warranty. After warranty, Oh you have a problem, that you need new rotors and pads. DUH ? But I still do like this sled. 8 foot bed is better than 6.5' or 5.5'. As you can see from the mileage it doesn't get much driving. I purchased it to drive around the USA. Which I did, 9000 miles the first two months that I had it. If it had air-ride, I'd keep it forever. My neurologist told me that I have to buy a van, now I that I use a wheelchair, but I keep resisting. I really do like this truck, it's me.

2011 Lariat EcoBoost SuperCab - Loaded
Over 32,000 miles and 1.5+ years of ownership. No real issues. Front rotors glazed by 20K so I replaced them with better high-carbon rotors and higher end pads - big difference. OE brakes are so so. Power is very good. Mileage was 27 highway - now about 20. Excellent in mud, snow, gravel. Way better and nicer than my 2009 Tundra. Rides great on trips. HUGE rear seating area. Fit and finish is not that great but if BMW made a truck like this, it would cost $90K. Got mine for $38K with a $50K sticker price! Great value!
Great Little Truck
I love everything. There is only one reason I would sell my truck,,,,,, It is too high off the ground for this old man with disabilities. I have since sold my Ford F150 and am now driving a little POS. I will drive it till I can find me a low down Ford F150. Haha

Best F-150 I have owned
Ford has definately made an improvement in the engine. The 5.0 V8 is very responsive, and the quickest F-150 to date. I have owned a 2001 and a 2005 V8 F150 and this is the fastest and best fuel economy. The first tank I averaged about 15-16 MPG, but I believe that was because I was having fun with the truck. My daily stop and go commute, I have been averaging about 18 MPG and I can get 19 MPG on longer trips using the cruise control. My last F150 was happy to get no more than 15 MPG on a good day. Only problem I have had with this truck is a minor paint defect that the dealer is going to fix. The quietest ride I have had in a truck, practically no wind/road noise.
2011 F150 3.5L FX4 SuperCrew - Good Bad and Ugly
I've owned my 2011 F150 3.5L for 20K miles, and just under 18 months. I'm a long-time Ford buyer (this is my 4th Ford truck), and I can summarize my experience in three categories: The Good -- the 3.5L Engine. I was concerned that I would not have the power with a 6 cylinder engine. We drove to CO towing a 10K pound trailer, accelerating up the hills and mountains. Never once did the engine hesitate. Truly remarkable, it feels like a diesel The Bad -- fuel mileage. The truck performs on highway, but will guzzle gas in town (incl. urban freeways). I avg 15 mpg on 20 mi one way commute. The Ugly -- MyFord Touch/Sync. Impossible to use / dangerous interface. Ford should be embarrassed
Great vehicle for work, or play
This is a great general purpose pickup! It's a little light for towing bigger loads, but smaller trailers, etc. it works fine. Great appearance that gets good comments. Virtually no maintenance issues beyond the normal, brakes, etc. It has been a great pickup. Mileage could be better at interstate speeds. It will get 20 mpg at 65, but slips to 17-18 at 75-80 mph.

MatthewJohn's Ecoboost!!
Let's start out with saying mine is an ECOBOOST, some reason this selection is not in the choices. Bought new in Jan 11, now has 55k miles. So far truck has been flawless. This is primarily my towing vehicle, for I tow horses, quads and dirt bikes, my classic Mustang as well as various other classics, including a souped up 67 Suburban, parents boat and travel trailer. This truck handles it all very well. Had a three horse trailer w/ equipment weighted in at 11,100 pounds, and at 60 mph, truck did very well. My average after 55k hard miles is at 17.6, never reset the gauge once since new.
240k+ miles without a single mechanical issue!
Do your maintenance and the truck will last a very long time!

My opinion of my ecoboost 44,000 miles in
I loved my truck for the first year but some issues have come to light that have me thinking about buying another truck. I have replaced one starter and the replacement starter is begining to have the same issues the first one did. I have a rear main seal and a transfer case leak. The doors don't line up super well and I have occasional issues getting them to shut all the way. I also HATE the fact that you can't check the trans fluid levels on this vehicle. I just have to trust that I have enough fluid and that it's in ok condition. I have already replaced the front diff fluid as moisture got into it and it got all milky. I hope this hasn't happened to the trans as well but I can't look.
LOVED IT FOR FIRST 250 MILES!
Purchased a 2011 XLT crewcab with 5.0 and 355 rear.At only aprox. 500 miles I loved the truck until I put it in 4 wheel drive. The truck had a thumping noise. With a visit to a Ford service center I'm told it needs a" NEW " Front axle assy. With four day's gone by and still not repaired I'm convinced this purchase was a mistake. It's very hard to complete this review when I was only able to use this vehicle a couple of days before it's extended stay in repair. Also this truck had a tag on the dash that stated, "selected by Ford for randome testing" Just not the four wheel drive system?
Ford Quality Issues
Mostly owned Toyota 4Runners and BMWs, but took a chance on a loaded $50K F150. Overall, really like the truck and chose it over all other brands including Tundra based on test drive. The issue is quality. Ford Sync failed a few times, stable now after updates and fuse resets, GPS antenna replaced, A/C system failed, rear sliding window motor system had to be replaced. All within 40K miles....totally unacceptable. Dealer has been great and Ford has stepped up to help offset repair costs, but $600 to repair a rear sliding window is insane. Too many issues for a lightly used pickup. It's not just Ford, my Dodge and Chevy diehard buddies all have similar longevity issues. Unloading all our Fords and going to Honda or Toyota - only the ones built in Japan. Most reliable, affordable vehicles in the world are still manufactured in Japan, unfortunately. Even Honda's/Toyota's built in USA have too many recalls. Just the truth.

2011 ECOBOOST XLT 4WD
120k+ and still pulls hard, no issues had it awhile now and still comfortable. I do hear that people with wet or damp climates dont have intercooler issues. But Texas dirt and heat does fine.

Love my 2011 Ecoboost 4WD SCrew
I have 11 months in my F150 4WD SCREW with the V6 EcoBoost, just about to turn 20K mile, and I am loving this truck! The EcoBoost is living up to the hype with plenty of power to pull my 22 Foot Center Console with T-Top. Does not even feel like its attached. I do a fair amount of both highway and city driving and I am averaging from high 17's to low 18's MPH but admittedly I am lighter on the gas than I used to be. Ride is not as "car-like" as my 2004 but still a great ride for a 4WD and all the power that the V8 had. (Not sure why Edmunds will not let me select my truck as a 3.5L V6)
Reliable, comfortable capable truck
Ours was ordered with 3.70 axle. With the 5L V-8 that gives a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. Probably we could have gotten away with the stock axle and gained some fuel economy even though we sometimes tow two big horses... We're still quite happy with this vehicle. It is a great road car (except for the mileage!), I hardly know I'm pulling a heavy trailer, and it is very comfortable. My only complaint is that this early version of Sync is horrible.
