Eco-bust
After almost 3 years with my 2017 Explorer Limited with the 2.3L Eco-boost engine the vehicle average 18.5 mpg. Keep in mind the vehicle is rated at 18-25. My driving is a fairly even combination of city and highway and the vehicle receives regular service. I will give credit to Ford for space and comfort however, 2nd row leg room is limited, and 3rd row is all but useless unless it is small children. Additionally, getting to the 3rd row is awkward. In addition to the poor mileage performance the vehicle is a recall nightmare. There have been almost a dozen recalls. If you are buying a Explorer, or any Ford, my previous vehicle was a F-150, be prepared to repair and pay at the pump.

Great SUV!
BEST SUV EVER! have this car as a company car for a year and still no problems at all. We had a 1997 Taurus and a 2005 escape.I love this car a lot!

Handsome Vehicle
Nice solid suspension. Rough surfaces are smoothed out. Perfect height for getting in and out of. No doubt a very sharp looking and handling SUV. I guess that's why they are seen everywhere in every trim level.

Great ride with affordable style
I like my ride because it is affordable, big enough cargo to haul in that needs to be secured. The seats are flush when folded down. Alot of cars have gaps in them and they are not flat. So far no problems. I bought this used with barely 17,000 miles so like brand new! Rides is smooth, gas is good for the size.

Overall... Glad My Lease Just Ended!
I signed this two year lease in February 2017 after looking for a larger vehicle for my family and I. My Explorer replaced a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum, so I expected more. I mean for the most part, it was not that bad. But there certainly were things I became fed up with over the course of my 24 month lease. I really liked the look of the vehicle (It was the Limited variant), the LED headlamps and fog lamps were really something I now cannot live without after having for a while. The keyless entry pad on the driver's door has been something I now, also cannot live without; It is so convenient to be able to throw the keys in my center console and head out skiing, kayaking, hiking, or even attending lacrosse and football games. The interior was okay, but not great - materials were not very nice (lots of hard plastic and cheap vinyl coverings). On the flip side, there was a ton of space which is what you are looking for when leasing a midsize crossover. The 2.3L 4-Cylinder yielded about 22MPG combined most of the time, but also yielded some really loud drones and paired with the transmission, became very jerky as well between shifts. The vehicle was EXCELLENT in the snow. I absolutely loved how capable the vehicle was - super helpful in New England conditions! Overall, not very reliable, pretty poor build quality, cheap materials, not the safest vehicle in the class, but is decently comfortable, easy to park, has decent visibility, and is cheap to maintain.
