So today I have the dilemma of my car. It is a 2016 ford Escape very basic very standard model. I use this as my child hauler and daily driver to work. This car had major issues about 8 months after I bought it. I was on the interstate and the car quit accelerating and started shaking violently. I was in the fast lane and couldn't get the car to accelerate. I began to slow at a high rate, and couldn't get over to the shoulder because it was peak hours for traffic in Knoxville tn. I call the dealership and they tell me to bring it in once I have gotten the car shut off it stops acting crazy I start it up and it goes back to normal. I take it to ford where they say there is nothing wrong with the car. The next day I am out with my kids after work and it starts again, it is vibrating really hard throwing codes onto the screen and wont accelerate, so I pull over and Video tape this whole incident. This car clearly has something wrong with it. I take it directly to ford. They find out it is a throttle position sensor. They replace it the car runs fine until yesterday. Almost a year later. The last thing happened the week of thanksgiving. The car keeps acting like the battery is dead. Just out of the blue. I will turn it off and all I get is CLICK CLICK CLICK. You can not even get to the battery properly to actually jump it. Some guys helped me while me and my children were stranded in a weigles parking lot. They couldn't get to the ground post or negative post, only the positive post. They hooked to the positive post and then used the negative one on anything else under the hood. The car started, I took it home parked it and left it running. Then I shut it off got in it and drove it back out to get ice as we are taking a trip (the last time the car malfunctioned we were going to take it on a trip and decided it was too dangerous to use on a long road trip pretty sad when you got a new car and wont take it out on a trip). I get out to get the ice, I shut the car off thinking it would be fine.. nope stuck again. Guys helped me jump it again.. got it on the road took it home where this morning it didn't start so I had to use an older car to get to work... it is funny how my husbands 12 years old truck has never given him a day of trouble. Neither has his 4 year old truck.. but my brand new car has been a lemon and we do not take it on long trips due to the fact it is a hazard for ourselves and our children.

Other than the fact I have now gone through TWO fuel pumps since buying this car, I am just as disappointed in the lack of quality materials used in the simple things like control knobs and seat cushion materials. Lots of road noise on the highway. I wont buy again. Next time I'm probably going back to a santa Fe

I am 6'3" and weigh about 21 stone [that sounds so much better than 300 lbs] and can easily get in and out of this car and ride 100+ miles per without being beat up in the process. For a small SUV it has a stable, solid ride and keeps me cool even in Houston's heat. This is maybe the ideal run around car. We still own the Escape and it still functions well with high levels of convenience and economy. I have since bought a Ram 1500 for heavier hauling needs and with a V6 it not only carries everything I want but still averages 24 mpg. Over all I give the full sized truck [quad cab] higher marks for value than the Ford.

$30,000 Piece of Crap!

After doing a bunch of research on my next car, having grown up in a family of Fords and previously owning a Mustang; I decided to go with the Escape. Alot of what I wanted was based on the technology aspect as I installed an aftermarket radio that supported Apple CarPlay, which only came with Ford Sync 3 on titanium models. Day after Labor Day 2016, I found a 2016 titanium CPO with what I wanted and thought I had a great deal. Only to experience nothing but problems with the Bluetooth connectivity, driver's side wind noise, and noises from the undercarriage as I accelerate/stop/make turns. I took it back to dealer to resolve the issues as I was still under warranty. The door was adjusted, a part was ordered for the shocks, yet they couldnt replicate the Sync 3 issues that I had documented with video. The service guy was a jag and didnt care to see the videos I had. After that experience, I contacted Ford Customer Care and basically told me that the dealership is their "eyes and ears" and that they have to see it happen. So they said to drive right in next time the issues happen. So what happens when I'm driving at night and the glitch happens and the service dept is not open?? I found another dealership closer to home, that was able to do a software update from 1.0 to 1.1 which didnt resolve my issues and still didnt give me the Apple Car play, one of the main reason I bought the car. On top of this, I found a crack in the windshield that I had to pay out of pocket to replace as it did not meet my deductible. As for the radio, it doesnt seem to work right as every couple days i have "reset" the console. Had I known I would be having these problems, I would've never bought the car in the first place. Ford continues to lie, and cheat its customers. Promising updates and then not following through. All I want at this point, is for them to replace the radio, as I documented with video the glitches, yet they want stand by their product. And that's why this will be my last Ford.

Love Our Escape

We've purchased our new Ford Escape less than a month ago. It has the additional Equipment Group 201A package. We haven't tested it on various road or weather conditions, including wet pavement. This is our first SUV. It has very good maneuverability and pick up for city and highway driving. We haven't hauled heavy loads. We love the rear camera, all-around visibility and reverse sensors that give us added protection with backing up. The interior is very comfortable but wish there were more storage compartments in the front. We love the convenient storage in our 2010 Fusion which has more storage space than the Escape. The lumbar support and ability to elevate the driver's seat, adds to the driver's comfort with less fatigue. So far the gas mileage isn't great - only 20 mpg combined city and highway. But our vehicle isnt properly "broken in" yet. The owner's manual states to calculate after the first 1000 miles, which we haven't reached yet. The Sync 3 is awesome and user friendly! The speaker system produces clear, crisp stereo music. Also, the mph displays in large numbers on the information display panel allows the driver to see the speed at just a quick glance. The cruise control buttons are easy to find and it's much easier to resume speed with just a flip forward on the resume/cancel bar. This winter, we will appreciate the FWD that will automatically convert to AWD if needed. We have used edmunds.com for over 15 years and have found it to be a very reliable source of information for our auto purchases.
