Great Car for the money
Bought the 4 cylinder limited model to get better gas mileage than we were getting with our 8 cylinder full size SUV. Having said that you can definitely tell its a 4 cylinder. it definitely doesn't have the get up and go that Ive become accustomed to but thats a trade I was willing to make. It feels luxurious and comfortable inside which was surprising to me since I am tall and I thought it was going to be too small. I still think the turning radius is poor for its size. Parking spaces and uturns can be a challenge. My Tahoe and expedition used to spin on a dime and with the escape I often end up needing to do a three point turn. But for the money you can't beat it and I am happy with my purchase.

After owning this for 9 years...
In 2015, I bought a 2012 Ford Escape Limited Edition for the following reasons. I wanted comfort without buying a larger SUV. For business use, I needed a wider cargo door and wider cargo space and I got both with this vehicle without having to get a larger SUV. The same year Subaru Forester also would have worked for me, but it was about 5k more than this Escape at the time and was a little less comfortable, in my opinion. I really like the 17.5 gallon gas tank. Here are the negatives. There is a small leak at the rear window when it rains hard. You can read about it on the internet. I took it to Ford, but they only replaced the rubber seal and that didn't work, so it still leaks. However, it only leaks when it rains pretty hard and it's a fairly small leak. I also had to replace the lift gate latch. Inside the door, there was no evidence of water damage or rust from the water leak. The latch simply went bad, which is another known issue for this vehicle. It has plenty of power for a 4 cylinder engine, but there is slight hesitation upon initial acceleration. It now has 93,000 miles on it and I'm still very happy with this vehicle. I'm going to keep it for a few more years. I hope this helps someone.

Great Vehicle For The Price
Bought this car a few days ago so we could have a car to augment our GMC Acadia due to a growing family. It replaced a 1997 Escort so its definitely better. My dealer's initial price quote was over $19,000. I was called a few days later and was told that that particular Escape was on sale for $13,995. For that price I would say the car is spectacular, being that it was less cash than a 4 year old RAV4 with 90,000 miles. Its quiet, rides smooth, is very quiet, and has ample power. The manual transmission is hard to shift, but I hope it loosens up. The interior is cheap and plasticky, but what should I expect for the price?
Paint problems!!!
My new 2012 Escape has been into the body shop now twice for paint contamination!!! Also found on the back tail gate ford did not paint the edges on the 4 lower corners!! Yes I have seen other 2012 the same way!!!!!
