Big Van for Big Plans

1998 Ford E-350 Chateau Club Wagon 3dr Van

I traded in a '98 E150 with the 4.6L V8 engine that had 143,000 miles on a '98 E350 Chateau with a V10 and 53,000 miles. The 350 drives better and the interior is nicer. The V10 has great torque and is quieter thant the V8. Gas milage ranges from 11 City to 16 Highway. This van is set up for towing not good gas milage. We will have to see how the V10 holds up.

Versatility

Versatility, from carrying passengers, the original intention, to supplies, lumber (up to 16ft inside) furniture, etc. with bench seats removed/turned sideways. Having owned all US brands (full size,1 mini) this has been the best van I've owned. Passenger comfort, front/rear-heat/air, space to stretch, capacity for furniture, appliances, motorcycles, (minis can't cut it) then back to comfort for family/friends. Yes I rate it high, very versatile.

Great Family Hauler

I have been hauling may family and various trailers around for 17 years. You cannot ask for more comfort. The four captains chairs and fold-down bed/third-row bench seat are great. I have a new crew cab pickup, but the family still prefers the club wagon for comfort. Reliability has been outstanding with a radiator failure (from towing in 105+ degree weather) being the only problem I have ever had. Paint and interior are still in excellent condition despite being 17 years old.

Ultimate Tow Vehicle

This is the ultimate tow vehicle. If you pull a trailer of any kind, in my case vintage Airstreams from 20 to 26 feet, and vintage Shastas from 12 to 19 feet, you can't do it with more luxury, comfort, power, or practicality than with a big-assed, full powered, fully enclosed E350 Chateau. The fold out rear bed, the four captain's chairs, the rear AC to cool the huge interior space all make this a great horse to pull your wagon.

Electrical problems abound

From the day I purchased this vehicle, the idiot lights malfunctioned and once a year I have to replace the windshield due to defect in design. It has a lot of pep still at over 300,000 miles and it is still used daily. No major problems to date other than regular maintenance.
