I obtained this car through a local dealer as the second owner, and the car having 174K miles on it the price was right for the space I needed without resorting to a people carrier. Though the intake manifold was cracked, and the car was starting to show it's age; I threw an aftermarket intake on it, and now have over 220K miles on it. The air ride still works great, oil changes are 5.5 quarts instead of 7 like some OTHER 4.6 liter powered competitors, and this car is a cinch to work on. 27 MPG on the highway is a respectable number when you consider the size of the vehicle. As for power, it doesn't really cut it cranking out about 195 HP to the wheels, and right around 260 fl/lbs torque. Still it can run a quarter mile in low 13's, and bolt ons are plentiful and cheap. Large, seats six, a listless, easier driving car there never was....except for maybe a Lincoln. Still like a cloud.

I can't understand the under rating some people give this cruiser on gas milage. I recently went into the mountains by way of MT Airey NC {Andy's hometown} across US58 in Va. to South Boston Va.,and averaged 28 MPG.,with the air on.How could anyone expect more with such a large and comfortable car? As for me, I'm very pleased and reccomend this vehicle to anyone considering a Crown Vic!!!

There's a reason why Edmunds ranks this car as a best bet. It's very smooth and comfortable and has plenty of power from the 4.6L V-8. Ford's been making Crown Victorias for a long time so they should be pretty good. The only problem I've had so far is with the front ball joints. The front end squeaks and creaks. My mechanic said that is a commone problem with these cars. It's been great other than that.

I owned a 1998 before this 2000 and I love these cars. Both vehicle have been LX's with handling and suspension package. To me they are the best full sized cars on the market. Not to mention they are rear wheel drive.

Best car on the road for the money. Mine has the handling package, well worth the extra money. Very smooth and stable ride.
