Purchased new: When I first test-drove this car, I became ill as I realized what I paid for my BMW X3. The Journey rides better, is quieter, smoother, easier to get in and out; even the seats are more comfortable. When my wife and I take a trip, the BMW stays home now. I've read complaints about power (did they test drive the car first?) and outdated/unchanged style (I like the style, and don't care if it doesn't change). No regrets here with my Journey. Update: 30k miles, not a single warranty issue. Car still rides like new, even traces of "new car smell" on the interior. [update] 60k miles; only had to change the spark plugs, still runs and drives like new, still no regrets. We got rid of our BMW, now I use the Journey as a commuter, about 95 miles per day, in comfort.

UPDATE (2yrs and 30k later): still love the Journey! Have had no mechanical issues and it drives like the day I bought it! Gas mileage has improved, and it has been by far the easiest vehicle I’ve ever had to live with. The storage compartments under the passenger seat and the coolers under the floor in the back have been used A LOT! **original review** I traded in my nearly new 2016 Honda Civic for a Dodge Journey earlier this month. I loved the civic but I needed more space and the pilot was a tad bit out of my desired price range. Next door was a dodge jeep dealer so I stopped by to look at the grand cherokee originally and saw the Journey. I thought it looked good, not like a new modern conventional design but more along the lines of the original looking subs that didn't have a bunch of flash. I bought the crossroad plus v6 AWD, and the sticker said $34,560, but the salesman told me don't even think about what that sticker says. When we sat down to do the paperwork I noticed all they really wanted for the car was $27,600!!! I nearly started dancing to see a price offered from a dealer so much lower than the MSRP. I guess the Journey has been around a while and they don't move as quickly as the rest of the new chrysler dodge jeep products. The only thing that I wish it offered was adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring. Even budget cars have those options nowadays but for the price I can't complain much. The engine has more power than I really need, all the room I could ask for (including two beer coolers that are removable under the second row seats), AWD, a huge infotainment screen that I still have yet to touch because it kind of intimidates me, and a bunch of other little niceties that I didn't really expect (self-dimming rear view mirror, built in booster seats for kids, removable flashlight built into trunk, actual power outlet in the backseat). One concern I have though is reliability, I see a lot of people have issues with their transmission, brakes and random engine components so *knock on wood* I don't experience any of those problems. It rides like a cloud, smooth and quiet. Though the trim piece around the infotainment screen makes a slight creak on the occasional bump but it's nothing obnoxious... YET. Overall I think I am going to be very happy with this car, I like sitting up higher and after the civic it is going to take some getting used to but you certainly can't argue that it's an extremely versatile vehicle. If all goes well reliability wise I think I will keep this suv for a long time.

Almost two years ago we purchased a 2017 SE Journey at a very good price. So far we've enjoyed this vehicle, it is roomy, comfortable ride and plenty of space. Although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the other journey, the price was right for our budget. We are in our mid 70's and was looking for a comfortable suv with an affordable payment. The 2.4 L engine is enough power for us, the transmission works great and we enjoyed the cargo space. We have gone on several out of state and in state trips, the ride was enjoyable, passed 18 wheelers with no problem and the gas mileage wasn't that bad. We really enjoy our journey.

I originally went to the dealership with the plan to buy a new Jeep. After test driving a few models (Patriot, Latitude, etc), I was not happy with ride, comfort, or interiors. My price point also kept putting me in the 4cyl Jeeps. I have previously owned a Chevy Blazer, and a couple Jeep Cherokee Sports. On a whim I decided to test a new 2017 Journey Crossroad AWD. I was pleasantly surprised. After 9 months of ownership, I am still satisfied with my purchase. Only a few things bother me, and they are pretty minor. It is a basically ugly vehicle, except for maybe the "boss" looking color (black) on the front grill package of my otherwise light gray (silver) vehicle. It is slow to warm up, even in the summer, and the heating and air conditioning take a while to get going too. Another thing I miss is daytime auto-running lights, I have to turn on the headlights if I want headlights during the day. Also this vehicle is manual open on the liftgate (no click to open on the fob). Things I like are the roominess of the front seat area, and plenty of rear space, especially with both rows of seats folded down. Accelerating this V6 is fine for my driving style, and quick acceleration when needed was adequate, like for merging in to heavy traffic. Highway driving I average about 25mpg at 70 mph. On cruise, it gets a little better. In town, suburb driving around 21 mpg. I like the somewhat basic electronics pkg. I don't need navigation, or computer, or a backup camera. I do enjoy the surius radio, and bluetooth, although the latter I rarely use. This is the first AWD vehicle I have owned, my previous vehicles all being 4WD switch on the fly types. I was a little aprehensive about the AWD, but my first winter in the upper Midwest (Iowa) I had no problems getting around in the snow. Dodge has done a good job winning me over, before this purchase I had never considered this brand. Update: June 2019. Still own this vehicle. Still agree with above. The only thing I have discovered with the heating/cooling of the interior is to choose only one area to heat or cool. Trying to do floor and dashboard at the same time seems to tap the system. Heating one choice at a time brings faster cooling or heating to the desired area. I have had no maintenance issues. Still like the roominess and basic package (less things to go wrong). I would recommend purchasing this vehicle. Update 1/25/24: I still own this vehicle. Now has 83K miles on it. Just recently had to replace one of the rear wheels bearings. Other that I've had no issues. I have come to realize there is a bad blind spot caused by the windshield frame where it meets the driver and front passenger side doors. I have not been able to always see a vehicle coming from the left or right, especially at 4-way stops. This is caused possibly from the airbags that may be located in the frame (?). I also stated earlier that I didn't need the back up camera, but the vehicle is large enough I do wish it had one now. Overall, I still like the vehicle, reliable, roomy, low maintenance.

Get the V6 if you can. the 4CYL is adequate, but nearly identical Fuel Mileage. Superior technology, all the bells and whistles make this a driving dream. Dodge has some great rebates and incentives, and you can get the top of the line model for a great price.
