I was hesitant to buy the Challenger given mixed reviews on some web sites. However, this is an excellent vehicle with plenty of room and a nice ride. The look of the car is timeless!

Amazing V8 Hemi power! Fire her up, hear the throaty stock exhaust, adjust your seat and wheel...put her in D....told on! The power pushes you into your seat like a cradled baby. The steering is tight, reacts like nothing I've ever driven. You cannot help but open her up on a straight road. I haven't even used Sport mide yet...not sure I will need to. This car hugs the road, is comfortable to ride in, and drive. Huge trunk, rocking stereo, beautiful engine under the hood. My daddy had a 1973 Challenger...I see your '73, and raise you a '22!

Rock solid excitement

After a few years of driving a Raptor I decided to get back into a muscle car and gave the Challenger a look. I was glad I did because the Widebody Scat Pack exceeded my expectations in build quality, performance and rear seat room. The Shaker hood package took me back to the Cobra Jet days. The interior design is modern yet simple and the U connect system is as good as any I've seen. The retro look of the Challenger is well done and I couldn't be more impressed with the refinement over the years. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for muscle with a touch of practicality. Good job Dodge. One year update and everything is wonderful. No issues with the Challenger and enjoy driving it every time I get in it. The tremendous amount of torque make it difficult not to spin the tires and the acceleration is off the chain. I’m glad I purchased one while they were still available in my he gas powered version. The update on the Challenger is very positive. 24,000 miles with zero issues. Other than the OEM Pirelli P zero tires only getting 18K miles I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with my Challenger and look forward getting behind the wheel everyday. Two years and 31,000 miles later the Scat Pack is still a joy to drive and experience. Zero issues and solid as a rock.

You won’t find a more enjoyable muscle car for the money! This 2022 Dodge challenger “Scatpack” widebody is a work of automotive art!! 485 hp 475 lb ft of torque paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. There’s a reason why they call it the “Drivers Car” It’s a big bad hunk of Detroit Muscle, weighs 4300 lbs. fit and finish in the interior is superbly done. Every minute in this car will keep a grin on your face!! You’ll love just looking at it and so does everyone else ,wherever you go,people say “ Wow, beautiful car “ This is a collector car, I wouldn’t want anything else! Chuck Fernandez

I’m a little frustrated with the lack of respect the Challenger gets from traditional car magazines. As an automotive engineer who has worked for each of the big 3, I think a well equipped Challenger is hands down a betting car than the Camaro or Mustang. If you want a nice car with timeless styling, excellent performance, a nice interior, and a great ride/handling mix, then get a Challenger Scat-Pack with the suede/carbon fiber interior option. If you’re only interested in storming around the Nurburgring in an adolescent, stripped down, plasticky, kidney bruiser, while being assaulted by road noise, then get a Camaro/Mustang. By the way, it’s ZF 8spd auto is world class in function & reliability. Challenger gets no love from most of the automotive press who spend most of their time evaluating $750,000 McLarens and 4-door snooze-mobiles.

Being a automotive technician for 10+ years with Ford, and working on these vehicles for so long made me fall in love with the challenger. After doing enought used car inspections and road tests on r/t's , scat packs, and hellcats, I knew exactly what I wanted. In terms of gas mileage, insurance costs and the overall cost of the vehicle I decided to go with a brand new 2022 challenger r/t black top in smoke show clear coat fully loaded with a sun roof. And I am glad I did as prices have been steadily going up since dodge closed order banks for all v8 L-cars. The power, the handling, and the overall ride is what made me fall in love with it. I currently have almost 3,000 miles on her without any issues. The 5.7 in my opinion is plenty of power for the street and still to this day puts a smile on my face. I have the z-automotive active exhaust controller installed, and going threw tunnels and shifting it, getting that beautiful zf-8 speed lighting fast shift with the godly backfire/putter can cheer you up after a long day at work in 90° heat. Dodge, thank you for staying true to your roots and blessing us with one of the closest modern day muscle cars out there

Wanted a Challenger/Cuda since I was 16 back in 1970, which was a great year for cars. Just pulled the trigger on an F8 green 2023 Scat Pack Widebody. Could only find two new ones for sale nationally with manual transmissions in this retro color, and production has ceased. I love this car!! Have owned Mustangs, Corvettes, and even a 70 Chevelle SS454, and this is my favorite. Just an absolute blast to drive and look at. Great mix of new and old school. So glad I did this before it was too late.

I bought my 2022 Scat Pack Challenger Shaker because I always wanted one and they were going to stop making them. Absolutely no regrets! I love everything that this car is. It looks just like the muscle cars that I used to drool over as a teenager and garners compliments from everyone. It has 485 horses on demand that demand respect from everyone except those with deep pockets buying ZL1's, Vette's, Hellcats and Cobra Mustangs and even those jokers have to take it seriously. I had to travel from Indiana to Missouri to buy it, as I couldn't order a new 2023, there were no more allotments at dealerships in March of 2023. I had to find the one that I wanted on a dealership lot. When I saw it on the lot, I fell in love immediately. When I drove it prior to signing on the dotted line, I fell in love with it again (a span of about five minutes). When I drove it home on the Interstate, I fell in love with it again. The ride, the power, the sound, everything perfect. My wife offered up her Gladiator to enable us to purchase the Shaker. She groused about it, but within a week she also confessed to loving it. I don't see us ever parting with it. I truly cannot express the happiness still experienced driving it. It always brings a smile to both of our faces while driving it. The Challenger Scat Pack is probably the last true American muscle car that can double as a family driver. Absolutely love it.

The 2022 Dodge Challenger GT is powerful and roomy! Seats are very comfortable. It feels safe and sturdy. Don't get happy with the gas pedal - it takes off like a rocket and sustains its speed. The Indigo Blue color is gorgeous! Only wish the back up cameras gave more warnings. Also wish the side mirrors had warnings for when cars are too close. Still a great car that's fun to drive!

Traded my 2016 black rt shaker 5.7 for a new 2022 granite gray scatpack 6.4 and couldn't be any happier , the power is so much more, if you can get one at a good price like I did , then go for it. Just wanted to add that when I was 8 years old, I saw one of the first 1970 rt challenger and thought when I get older I'm going to buy one, but when it was time dodge didn't make them any more, so in 2008 they did and I save for two years and bought a 2010 stx , then a plm cry in 2013 6 sp and again 2016 pitch black shaker rt, and now the 2022 scat, I couldn't be happier, buy a scatpack.

I know have 2 Challengers...for the moment, until my godson buys the other one. These are seriously the smoothest riding cars ever. I love my Sublime Green. Just ordered decals from the best Etsy seller, MotorCityRides! He modified my decal package and liked my combination, so it's now #7 on his list of choices! Steering is real tight on this, which enhances the driving experience. Seats are more snug than on my 2012. The car is worth every penny. Now if I could just get the Easthampton, MA RMV to swiftly process my paperwork so that I can drive it, would be nice!!! Hard to see this car sitting in my driveway for 2 weeks now. Paperwork seems impossible to get fixed when you are an out of state buyer from MA making a purchase in Georgia. So beware if you purchase a new car out of state!

SXT Steal of a deal

2023 SXT owner, 08/14/2023
2023 Dodge Challenger SXT 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
1 of 3 people found this review helpful

I was looking for a car for my son. I looked at Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3, when by chance I went online at AutoNation and sorted by lowest price. I saw a Dodge Challenger SXT. The MSRP was $33,655 less a dealer discount of 3164, and a 2000 by Dodge and by luck another 1000 by Dodge for filling out an on line form. This brought the price down to $27,491. This is for a 3.6 liter V-6 (VVT) with an 8 speed automatic transmission (German made), 278 Watt 6 speaker stereo, Sport Brakes, AC, Cruise Control, etc. This is a rear wheel drive car, not front wheel drive. When comparing the SXT to Toyota, Honda and Mazda, it was the best value. A V-6 vs 4 cylinder and an actual automatic transmission vs CVT (Mazda makes a 6 speed automatic). The ride quality was the best in the SXT. The SXT was also the quietest of the 4. Dodge has been making the Challenger since 2008, so I suspect the bugs have been worked out. The V-6 engine has had over 10,000,000 copies made, so it must be good as well. BTW I do not work for Dodge nor do I have any connection to them. The SXT is a great value. Grab one before they are gone.

I bought a six cylinder since the 392 V8 with manual trans didn't impress me at all. I'd bought a 911 Carrera S instead for speed a few years back..much better but came back this time around to get the GT 6 cyl "Last Call". 4 WD for safety and road grip..but noticed some clunking in the rear shaft to the differential when gears engaged. Having it checked out. Otherwise a nice car..too bad they dropped the engine cover.

Love my Challenger RT!

This car has been a very joyful purchase. Plenty of power for the street without having to prove anything to anyone. I am more than satisfied with the 5.7L Hemi, and it can use 89 octane gasoline. I have seen mileage averaging up to 25 mpg. I love the 8-speed Torqueflite automatic, and the Alpine 9-speaker stereo system sounds great. I am pleased with the machined, granite pocket 20-inch by 8-inch wheels running 245/45R20 tires. I'm not too worried about spinning the rear tires under hard acceleration since I don't want to abuse the car. The car rides smoothly and is not harsh on the road. It is very confidence inspiring. The engine emits a pleasant rumble, and the active exhaust really growls if you accelerate hard. I don't see why some owners want to do mid-muffler deletes or install even louder pipes. I am pleased that the car had the Driver Convenience Group with the blind spot detection mirrors. The Indigo Blue exterior paint is beautiful, and the leather seats are very comfortable. No rattles or vibrations from the interior, matching the interior dynamics of my more expensive Lexus RX350! Oh, yes. The rear seat is useable, and the trunk can be loaded with luggage or groceries. I believe a young grandson or granddaughter will inherit my Challenger RT.

I love the NA paired up with a 6-speed. One of the best Manuel transmission I’ve driven. The clutch is a little heavy though. Great car, perfect daily, (you can the mpgs to around 14 depending how you drive) and a blast to drive. My only disappointments with the car is that there aren’t many power gains with mods, interior and exterior materials are on the cheaper side, and the performance pages takes 2 to 3 business days to load up. Other then that , I love this car

Pure AMERICAN MUSCLE CAR a BEAST!!!

I've been a ford guy my entire life until I drove my first chrysler LHS. Now know comfort. I've been a Mustang GT driver my whole life until I actually got into my first Dodge Challenger. What a differance in looks speed comfort appearance and outright praise from the public. Just sitting in a parking lot and people walk up and admire this BEAST. My ScatPack in Octane Red is a pure Monster. The speed acceleration is so different than all the cars I drive. The initial start up makes a growl tha neighbors look through the blinds as she wakes up just to drive down the block as I leave my neighborhood. Not a true sports car but rather an American MUSCLE CAR. A true image of what a car should be like. It's so raw in power that she purrs and growls when she needs to pure adrenaline rush just sitting in the cockpit of this beast. There is no other that will let you feel the power like this car dies. All I can say is I Love it.

I have owned no less than twenty Mopars or the last many years. My first SRT was a 2006 Chrysler 300, and from there I was hooked on Chrysler muscle! Presently I have a 2016 Dodge Charger SXT with all wheel drive. I have 65000 miles on it and couldn't be happier. I also own a 2016 Dodge RT Scat Pack 392. These are the fifth Charger and seventh Challenger models that I have owned, and I have now ordered a '23 Challenger Scat Pack. What's not to love about these cars? The look Incredible, they have lots of power, are comfortable to drive, and (all things considered!) great reasonably good gas mileage. My current Scat Pack has over 70000 miles on it with no issues whatsoever other than normal maintenance. Plus the cars that I've mentioned here, I have owned several older Mopars from 1947 to 1995 models. I really highly recommend these cars!!!

Had to get use to this drastic difference in shifting and feel. There’s no hotdogging in this! To big and to heavy. Otherwise, I luv it!! Dodge did and excellent job building this car inside and out.

I started out a Mopar guy with my first car a 1970 Roadrunner 440 4 speed, I bought another one 10 years ago. Back in the seventies that car was an animal. I bought a last call challenger Hellcat, in plumb crazy back in July. I still love my Roadrunner but the Challenger makes if feel like a lumbering sled! I’m 6’2 and I have plenty of room, leg and head that a mustang , Camaro or corvette doesn’t, besides who wants Ford or Chevy muscle! I love the the interior, kinda peanut butter colored leather, goes well with the kinda jelly colored exterior. Some reviewers claim the handling isn’t as good as some of the others but I think it handles great, those guys evidently never drove one of the originals! Like my Roadrunner it’s only driven on bright sunny days and stored in a heater shop. It truly is a blast to drive, turns heads and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. John R

I have a 2023 GT in the F8 green and I literally get compliments everyday from total strangers. Even though I LOVE my car, there are things that aren't so great. The A/C does not blow very hard and sometimes I hear a rustling in the vents. The optional navigation operates like something from 1995 and is just about useless. The blue tooth system is just about as bad. Both were much better on my Kia and Hyundai. I wish the steering wheel went lower. My seats are ventilated but I don't really notice a difference. Overall the car just feels like it's not put together very well. There is a "cheapness" to it. I have concerns about how it will hold up over time. The fuel economy on highway trips is around 28 MPG but around town it drops to about 19 MPG. It is a very cool car that gets much attention so I hope to enjoy it for many years to come.

Fun to Drive (even for an "old lady")

I love the classic look with the convenience of a modern car. This car is so fun to drive. I'm a 46 year old mom who is relatively boring and lame, but I can't help but want to show out when I'm driving this beauty.

I purchased a 2023 GT which has a modest amount of power and an extremely reliable time tested V6 pentastar engine. It's a pleasure to drive and I look forward to taking it for a spin every day. The steering is light and agile compared to the more powerful RT, Scat Pack, etc. (likely due to the lighter engine and overall reduced weight of the GT trim), however it lacks the low end torque and overall acceleration of those models. The 2023 GT comes stock with Bilstein performance shocks and a performance suspension, so it has a fairly stiff ride, but corners really well. If you add on a Borla S-type catback system, it even sounds fantastic!

Mine is a scat pack with A8 trans. Comfy and quiet on the highway. Roomy. The $1795 radio upgrade will make your neighbors complain and your ears bleed. Fairly quick. Decent highway mileage. V8 burble is satisfying. Can’t see anything close to you on either side as the C pillars blind everything. Comes with super skinny 245/45 all seasons on even skinnier 9” rims that won’t mount anything wider than 275/40. Dodge claims 4.3 second 0-60 which is impossible on any street except with drag radials on a treated drag strip. Pull away with any gusto from a green light or stop sign and the rear end slides sideways and car heads for the nearest ditch. God forbid you try to city drive in the rain. Big heavy cast iron hemi V8 doesn’t help weight distribution. Cumbersome on any twisty road. Still, it’s so good looking, draws thumbs up everywhere, and even with its many limitations, a fun car. I’m keeping it.
