First time challenger owner

2019 Dodge Challenger SXT 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 8A)

I was able to get out of an old junker Into a beautiful certified 2019 sxt challenger. People have made fun of me for saving some money and getting an sxt but, I really enjoy the ride the gas mileage (17.8 avg) for me is great. It's not loud at all unless u really punch it but I didn't buy it to race. Being a young parent too it's very roomy and very easy to put a car seat in unlike most other muscle cars I was looking at. The entertainment features are overall good I like the size of the screen the Bluetooth is very smooth and easy to understand. One lacking feature I have to say is no nav at least on mine kinda is a let down considering there is a "compass" button like I really want my whole screen to be a silly compass. The speakers it comes with are very nice as a bass/sub enthusiast they sound very good from the start. The seats are comfy and have a cool design to them. Trunk space is really good too fits pretty much any kinda grocery bags or items within reason. I think on of my favorite thing about the car is the dash, the gauges look amazing! Whoever is in charge of the redesign they got on the interior a few years ago deserves a raise. Overall I'm very happy with my new car and in a few years I'll upgrade to the rt or scat pack but if your a young guy or girl lookin to get a challenger but can't afford the rt or scat pack there is no shame in the sxt it's a great vehicle, besides it's not like 23 year old me with a 1 year old is gonna be racing anyone around nj. Id recommend this vehicle to anyone.

In My Opinion Its The Best Bang For The Buck

I have owned a Mustang which was fun. I then followed the SUV/Crossover trend and owned SUVs for many years. I decided I wanted something fun and fast. I bought the Scat Pack Challenger. I had a few concerns like fuel mileage, insurance costs, and winter driving in the Chicago area. The gas mileage isn't spectacular but on the highway I can get high 20's. Insurance wasn't as bad as I thought. My age has something to do with that I'm sure. If you're in your teens or 20's this isnt a cheap car to insure. As far as winter driving I decided to get winter tires. I actually have more confidence driving my Scat Pack in snow and ice with winter tires than any of the 4wd SUVs I have owned that had all season tires. This car is fast. Its fast enough that I have no desire to own a Hellcat. There is only so much speed you can use on the streets. I dont take my car to the track. If i did then maybe a Hellcat would make sense. Horsepower does change everything. When a car has this much power it's hard not to enjoy driving. Even if you thought your previous cars had sufficient acceleration this might change your mind. I have always wanted a Lamborghini or Ferrari since I was a kid. This car is faster than the Countach and the Testarossa cars I dreamed of having. It's just a slight bit slower than the Huracan or Hellcat 0-60, and maybe 1.5 -2 seconds slower in the quarter mile. Not bad considering this is a $45,000 car well equipped with Alcantara seats.

I've driven several variants , and I really like the all wheel drive GT version with the 8 speed ZF automatic and the V6 pentastar engine. On the mountain twistys in VA & WVA it was outstanding . Quite a confidence builder for my long trip. A convertible version of this platform would be a MUST BUY for me. How about it FCA?

Great car for the 60 year old crowd

To start off, I'm 63, and had just got off a 3 year lease on a 2015 Ram Big Horn, with a Hemi. I loved that truck, and would of got another, but this time, I figured this may be my "last stand". I ordered the 2019 Challenger R/T, with the 8 speed auto, R/T classic option, spare tire, in Go Mango. The classic R/T stripe really makes the car stand out. Got it in March, and after 5000 miles, we love the car. The 5.7 Hemi, to me, is just enough power for overall driving. For a car with this weight it handles great. The Uconnect system, and Apple Carplay work great. With only these 3 options, we paid a little under $36K (Sticker was $39.500) For that price, and what you get, and what it does, you can't go wrong. My brother in law had a 2019 Mustang GT. Yes, he can walk over me with it, but after he drove my Challenger, he said he was sorry he didn't even look at a Challenger. Again, if you want a car that can get out of it's way, for a reasonable price, this is the car for you.

Out of nearly 50 vehicles in my driving history I've never owned a CAR with a V8 engine. Trucks sure, and some hot rod cars over the years, but my 2019 destroyer gray R/T is my first V8 car. Oh man, it is a hoot. So basically you buy a really cool motor and chassis and get a really nice car thrown in. And what a bargain it is. I skipped the $2500-plus for their big screen nav and upgraded sound system, went with the stock 'U-Connect' apple car-play interface instead. My iPhone connects seamlessly and the sound is remarkable good for a stock radio. The user interface is excellent. The car gets as good as my 4-cyl pickup for mileage - who'da thunk?? And ride is excellent, firm but comfortable. Supposedly the younger crowd (reads: more reckless) buy the camaro and mustang, so their insurance ratings make for much higher premiums - mine is the same as my 4-cyl truck again. This thing is a win-win-win all around. Could not be any happier.

My 3rd Challenger - I wouldn't drive anything else

I have driven Challengers for 10 years. In order to get all the options I wanted, I did a custom factory order. This time around, I got the All Wheel Drive version. It makes it much better to drive, year round. I have the Octane Red. I wouldn't change a thing. The only downside with the AWD is that you can't have both AWD and launch control.

Bought my indigo blue wide body scat pack with red interior back in September 2019 . It is a fun ride everytime I take it out. Back in 1971 I had a 1969 Z/28 RS and this brings me back to those days when having a Boss 302 or a z 28 was the ride to be in .This time I got the automatic it works great and has Paddle shifters .

What's that color?

Oh... That Guy, 11/25/2019
2019 Dodge Challenger SXT 2dr Coupe AWD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
4 of 6 people found this review helpful

Love the Destroyer Grey even more, now that I have it. It even looks clean even when it's dirty. I keep getting questions about "what color is that?" and how much people love the color. So I'm pretty happy with the color choice. As for the real reason I bought this car was because it's roomy. In fact that was the deciding factor to buy this over a Camaro. You can sit a car seat in the back and have room for 2 others in the back. That's of course people that aren't that tall. The trunk space is fantastic too. I umpire and the trunk can fit all my gear plus extra stuff. Essentially it was about the looks and space. Also, being a cheap guy I picked the SXT. This was a really hard choice too. I got crap from family and friends for choosing the SXT over any of the V8's. I figured this much though. I can fix it up to look like any challenger but the wide body and pay thousands less. Plus I get 30 per gallon and pay less per fill up because I don't need to buy premium gas. So while I get complements on the car, family say but it's a V6. Good thing my goal is only to impress me. So if you can't deal with that, get a V8, but for me I'm pretty happy with fixing up my new toy that gives me 30 per gallon. However, there are 2 things that aren't great about this vehicle. Otherwise it would be 5 stars. 1) The gap space between the tires and fender. It's a 3 inch gap with 20 inch rims. So I have to get it dropped. 2) The sound from the muffler sucks (SXT only). Now I have to get a Flow Master to fix that. I'm not that guy who sits in my garage revving my engine to make to neighbors look as me, but I do like to hear that deep sound on start up and when I'm punching it just to hop on the freeway or pass the drivers doing 60 in the passing lane. I get it though. They probably figured daily drivers don't want that attention. 3) Updated: Was unhappy with the The 7 inch Uconnect Radio because it doesn't have GPS like the 8.4 NAV. However when you plug in your phone you can access your google maps and other android apps. So I'm extremely happy I don't need to spend $1500 for a new radio. So 4.5 Stars instead of 4 stars now Still with the upgrade I'm doing, like buying the "Air Dam" (front spoiler), 20 inch rims, which I would have bought regardless since I wanted 9s in the front and 10.5s in the rear, break calipers, and the other items mentioned above; it's only about 4k +/- more. I still get 30 per gallon for life. So it's a win since I drive long distances with this car.

If your really know an automobile, if you are really not just a product buyer of whats new, If you feel as to what you know from shared or researched knowledge that you can feel good and you feel you can support the U.S.A auto industry design team and as much as you can in the production team (at least close to home) keeping the bigger money in America vs. sending the bigger money overseas, f you want to see a smile on your face and well as your family. If you truly understand the logistics of "why" and have a deep feel of American Automobile's; you can count on a Dodge Challenger or similar American Muscle designed automobile. The Challenger will probably be the last of the best of good ole home grown U.S.A. feel. My Son will have a legacy and already feels the pride of owning a U.S.A. brand automobile. The Challenger provides an everyday practical use (but it is a muscle car-so don't expect it is going to be your minivan or cross over). (Great things (and family) need special attention sometimes), not like your everyday great average normal every one has the same vehicle. Go get some fun when it is right! Dodge Challenger! - However, I have only one thing. If living up north and the windows could get frozen on the gaskets, make sure you get the automatic start to warm the interior up. This is no different than a car door sticking. But, I believe it is a bit more delicate with the gaskets. Like I said anything great has special imperfections (it has to!). My family is comfortable in taking long trips and the MDS system will provide me 30 mpg if driving speed limit when wanted. My wife just loves the zoom it has.

2019 Destroyer Gray Redeye Challenger. I've owned many nice cars from vette to Porsche. I do believe that I have found my last "Fun" car. No need to get another. I read lots of reviews about how the car is heavy, and not a track car. I've never taken any of my cars to a track. This thing handles great as long as you manage the throttle. It corners very well at speed. But, I did floor it while running 80 on the interstate...and it spun the tires. I think it will break traction at any speed. That does not mean it's not manageable. I find the car very easy to launch and control. It's big, it's fast, and it's comfortable.

Got a new 2019 Dodge challenger scat pack plus with 18 miles. Been complaining to Mopar that the clutch at times would not engage. Now the front left wheel makes a sound, when braking it shakes, and pulls to the right when braking hard and rear camera doesn't want to work. Rear camera is cramp. I will never recommend a dodge challenger to anyone . Waste of money .... Vehicle only has 15,520 miles.

I purchased a used 2019 Challenger GT in Go Mango Orange and while its a beautiful car it’s Pentastar v-6 lacks the power and torque of the bigger 5.7 or 6.4 liter v-8’s. since owning my GT I’ve had an issue with the driver’s side window not sealing properly. When the car is shut off after driving it the window goes up but is outside of the rubber seal. The only way to get it to seal is to keep the car running, jump into the passenger seay reach over lower and raise the driver’s window. Then it seals properly. A bit annoying but this is a Dodge product and not the best quality. The interior is nice but too much cheap plastic parts (doors, dash looks cheap, etc.). The car gets decent fas milage (18mpg in city) but there isn’t much oomph. My advice, go for a 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi v-8. Gas milage will suffer but it’s a much more fun to drive the the v-6. An update on my Challenger GT. There’s a piece of plastic that has come loose under the trunk spoiler. Poor quality control appears to be an issue at Dodge as I’ve noticed small pin pricks in the paint also. No doubt this is due to the paint not mixed properly before being sprayed on the car. Dodge has never been known to have good paint jobs. This is my third Challenger with paint issues.

Dont buy a redeye to save gas! Duh. I have owned so many cars I have lost track...had Vettes, Vipers, Mercedes, BMW, Jags Cadillacs, Jeeps and the list can go on. Sold my 2016 hellcat which was a blast to make room for the new edition. (Have 6 cars in the stable) Redeye came in 3 days ago and I told my wife 2 days ago it is my favorite, most fun car I have ever owned. Yes, you can tell the difference in 90 more hp., just make certain to get the wide body to get more rubber on the road. I like to be inconspicuous when driving, so i ordered the give me a ticket red and had the srt hellcat graphic put on the car. Many of the law enforcement officers in my area are friends, and you had better have some if you drive this car! When one of my deputy buddies told me that it is illegal to race, I replied that I never race! I just embarrass other drivers. With a hellcat redeye you will get alot of opportunities to embarrass.

I traded my economy car for a 2019 SXT. Don't let the v6 worry you, it still has plenty of power, averaging 23 mpg, thats with the occasional slam of the gas pedal to hit 100 mph. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Top speed of 140 before the governor kicks in. The engine is louder then the exhaust but thats an easy fix, Flowmaster Super 10s and resonator delete. Plenty of room in this car. RIDES LIKE A DREAM. Only downside is the feel of loss of power and somewhat hesitation the v6 has going up hills. Yes I know its a hill. But the you can feel it. Other then that amazing car, opt for a v8 if you can afford it, power to cash ratio. Get a V6

I have a 19 widebody scat pack 6 speed whoever wrote this review obviously is biased and cannot drive. I got 4.0 0-60 in track mode and have never lost a race to a Camaro SS mustang GT a Corvette (base) the car is a blast to drive it's deep sounding and sexy got a mid muffler delete it sounds sweet and and gotten deeper over time. It's a pretty car and you will be asked tons of questions about it. Mustang Camaros and vettes don't stand a chance when you pull up.

The V-6 is nice but it would be much better with a V-8 for almost the same price. Other wise the price for a V-8 is a little high for 2 more cylinders.

Sporty, aggressive, muscle… Love this car. It does ride low. A bit rough. Be very aware of low front end when parking anywhere. I generally back into a parking space for that reason. There can be some concerns for blind spots, but the sensors in the side mirrors are very helpful.

2019 Challenger R/T window issue

Brand new 2019 Challenger R/T Hemi with 8 speed auto with only150 miles and driver window stuck and no power!! Search youtube and found a solution to recalibrate the window stuck position. Had to restart car a few times to get driver door to work again. It's under warranty but a new car shouldn't have these issues with 150 miles on it. Got a hunch there will be other issues with this car. No more Dodge products for me!! Going to stick with Lexus, Toyota and Honda.

I have the R/T and love it. So many people that have had performance cars in the past need to at least take a test drive. The sound it makes is a big part of the fun. Nearly 400 Ft Lbs of tourqe is the rest of the icing. Total blast and worth every penny.

Before buying this car just know you will have a whole lot of fun with it and remember smiles per miles this is a great car even though its a v8 its pretty fair on gas and you will get a whole lot of attention just by the looks of the car and on how great the car sounds while you're at a stop and its idling or when you're on the gas overall this car is a 10/10 in my book!

My new Scat Pack has the feel of a old school Hemi muscle car with all the new car frills. Its got the cool Hemi sound, loads of power, and will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. Its also easy getting in and out of for us old guys that wont a big fast muscle car.

2019 Scat Pack Widebody love it. Quiet comfortable powerful handles well. But got rid of it. But also bought 2019 Hellcat Redeye Widebody for myself. Loud comfortable handles well Godzilla power can't keep the tires planted (needs sticker tires). My advice try both. Once you try the big boy you will never go back.. A year and a half later(bought 4/20)! Scary power! Slicks and skinnys on race stars diff brace driveshaft loop solid trailing arms shortend end links. 10.5 quarter can go faster. LOVE THE CAR! Going to try road racing front and rear strut tower braces 335 pilot super sports. with these mods can do both. This car is a widebody. Again every time I drive this car I get a shit eating grin can't stop smiling. AGAIN LOVE LOVE THE CAR. 11/19/2022 Car is 2 1/2 years old I race (drag) every chance I get car club, summit series, privet track rentals. Car is still scary, I never put on ps4s tires never road raced it. The car breaks loose in turns must have a gentle foot. Going with Dodge stage kits when available Stage 3 close to 1000HP (if installed by dodge I keep 5 year 60,000 drive train warrenty) also Deamon springs, rear cradle lock outs, diff lock outs, solid upper control arms, upper trailing arms, toe arms, ect. I LOVE THIS CAR

Amazing car for the money I payed! The 305s on the front will catch a groove in the road and will follow it! You have to drive this car and it’s not for someone who is trying to save money on gas and maintenance. 15 miles to the gallon and less in Sport and Track modes. Great exceleration and a great muscle car that looks fantastic and sounds great from the showroom floor. The car is ready to go fast and can go faster with upgrades. Great car not for rain or snow, it just has no traction but come on it’s a race car you can buy from Dodge.

Note, this is not a redeye SRT Hellcat. The drop down didn't have my 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat Plus 6.2 Ltr 2.4 Ltr supercharged Beast. Well thought out true muscle car that exilerates the soul when unleashing the Beast! Great purchase of a vehicle that will be remembered for decades as a vehicle that stayed true to its roots of the 70's. While we enter the EV erra, everytime I push start on my Hellcat, I will be reminded of how far Dodge came with its monstrous exhaust and supercharger whine;) this is a drag beast, without appologies. I've been asked to update my review by Edmonds: My Hellcat doesn't disappoint. The only thing I regret is our weather. Give me more sunny days so I can enjoy the ride! Plenty of onlookers with admiring eyes! Pictures and videos are a common place by the viewing public of all ages! Without a dought, a very loved car by the masses. Young, old, man or female!! Great purchase!

I've owned my Redeye since rollin it off the showroom floor with 2 mi. on it. She now has a little over 4k miles and has been a dream to own. Do all my own oil changes, added an anti theft system and professional ceramic coating to car and wheels. B5 blue with black hood. Broke the motor and drivetrain in right and have never had a single issue with the beast. Don't track or drag her just fun drives and a few car shows. To me the Redeye is the greatest muscle car ever built !
