Have owned dozens of new cars and this is the first time I've ever bought a car and enjoyed it more and more the longer I own it. Great ride and fuel mileage. Poor rear visibility in rear but with back-up sensors and camera, it doesn't much matter. Not a big fan of the 8-speed transmission as it seems to frequently hunt for a gear it likes. But, it does allow great mileage. If I had it to do all over though, I would have opted for the hemi.

I traded in my Volkswagen Passat Sport for this car, overall I've been impressed...stiff suspension & fast acceleration. I have already changed the intake on it & the exhaust which gave it a few more horses, pretty good at 300 hp, more than ample horse power that I need. I test drove the other models (RT & SRT) all those other cars would do is get me more in trouble. The front seats are tad uncomfortable the instrumentation is very nice. I have the launch mode and the sport package and it's a very fast car overall not very very comfortable on a long ride but it's a weekend car.

Impractically fast car packed w/ practical featur

CG392, 08/25/2017
2016 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 2dr Coupe (6.4L 8cyl 6M)

I surprised myself by recently purchasing a 2016 SRT 392. I actually needed a 4x4 to have access to some of the far-off points on the local beaches for surf-fishing but nothing really did it for me... The only thing "Cherokee" in Jeep's resurrected Cherokees would be the gas mileage; they are a disgrace to the model's heritage, particularly with the complete loss of the "boxy" design. I miss my old ones... The only SUVs I actually considered were Porsche, but nearly every piece of equipment was an a la carte option, including the ones that are standard included options on most other vehicles. Plus the maintenance costs... I've been rather impressed by the Chargers that have become my go-to rental vehicles. The Challenger SE was fine but nothing overly special; then on one trip, National gave me a Challenger R/T Plus for a week. Jesus that was fun, obscenely loud and I fell in love with the engine notes. I was amazed to discover that the SRT and Hellcat were only $200 more per year to insure than my 12 year old Lexus. Between the minimal insurance cost increase, the engine notes, and plenty of moments thinking to myself "5-10 years ago, I would have whipped a 180 there/peeled out here/some other stupid action", I decided to take the leap. The Challenger SRT 392 is a ton of fun and a pleasure to drive. If driven sanely most of the time, it actually delivered better gas mileage than my Lexus. I've actually found myself driving this beast at lower speeds than usual; partly for mileage, partly not to "be that guy", and/or to draw more attention than it receives simply being on the road. But, it's hard not to give it at least one hard acceleration per trip to stretch it's legs. If there's a fault to be found with the vehicle, it's that it's TOO FAST. One can't really hit and sustain the primal engine notes because in just two gear changes, you're already traveling in the triple digits. Call me crazy, but I think the 5.7L models are louder... My hypothesis is that less power lets one draw out the acceleration longer. Maybe the exhaust is different; I haven't researched that aspect but I doubt it. OK, maybe two faults...the 2nd being the massive hood that obscures visibility while parking. It is impossible to see exactly where the curb or concrete curb blocks/bumpers. Even though I have every available option, there is no front end parking sensor to help judge the distance of the wall/vehicle parked in front of you. Visibility out the rear is a problem with the huge C-pillars...back-up cameras need to be standard. And I wish there was a way to hack the system to turn on the camera upon hitting the turn signal to assist further with lane changes (over and above the Blind Spot Detection). I also wish the dash under the windshield was a different or slightly smoother material. The last "down side" is trivial..."Challenger" is an extremely appropriate name for this model. No matter how it's driven, it's like a magnet to a lot of other drivers to want to race it... While I don't particularly engage in such activities, it is endlessly amusing; 9 out of 10 of these bozos would be specks in the rear-view in short order. I don't know if it's overconfidence or ignorance but they are always good for a smile. Anyway, I'd call this an impractically quick car jam packed with completely practical qualities, like the cabin room, large trunk, usable rear seats, and plenty of amenities. Valet mode helps to limit one's worry just to the potential for dents and scratches while in another driver's hands. I will probably be cutting a pass-through hole and "door" in the rear center armrest for fishing rods, skis, and whatnot.

Still thrilled after a year!

I was looking at this car and telling myself that I did not really need it for 1-2 years, until I turned 40, my wife said "Just go ahead and get it", so I did, and after a year I am still thrilled to have it, each time I get in I enjoy opening the huge door, and I always look back when I get out. Sometimes I think whether I should have gone for the RT, but I use it for commute and it is fast enough for what I need it for, I usually beat the cars if I need to take over, and then go back to cruise control =). I love all the Tech included in the car, I wish I could have the one-touch to close the windows, and the "Sport" mode in the shiftier stick, instead of having to look for the button. The space is great for this type of car, usable back seat, huge trunk, comfortable driver position (I am 6' 2"). I love the special Red Color I got, I had to pay a little extra but it's worth. I get a lot of compliments and questions about the car and the color in specific at the gas station, the parking lot, etc. I assume they are guys telling themselves that they don't really need it (just like me) so I tell them "I am still thrilled, so just go ahead and get it"

392 srt is the car for me!

This car is fast and comfortable it is decent on gas mileage. It is everything that you want and a sports car. Even the handling is better than what most people say In my opinion. The negatives are The Harman kardon sound system is ridiculous it has so much bass back you cannot properly calibrate the sound you like. Also because the base is so strong the speakers rattle and I can't stand it. Next the head rest is useless it is too far back to be used. Finally I get a rubbing noise in the rear in when I turn hard white or left I have yet to get the dealer to figure out what the Noise Is. Other than that the car is great aim I recommend the SRT model for total fun and excitement.

Watch out for the dealers they try to rip you off on warranty policy, they want to extend at too high a cost and not through Dodge and they will try and slip in all kind of extra's you don't need. LOL

My only complaint is that the radio will not shut off. Automatically turns on when the car is started. All u can do is turn the volume down. I wish it would shut off. 2 dealers told me this is how the car was designed. I also wish the radio was louder. It needs a power booster. Other that that I adore the car. Great value $22700 OTD. Thank god the designers at mopar are doing the retro thing. Not everybody wants a boring 4 door family car or mini van. Now mopar bring back the super bird or Daytona with a shaker hood. In plum crazy.

Having owned a 1966 mustang, 73 Javelin and still owns a 1966 Falcon . I decided I wanted a retro muscle car. I spent many hours researching the Mustang,Camero, Charger et all. And I found the one I wanted, sleek, perfect lines black on black, she still runs as well as the day I bought her. I have put no money in this car. other than new tires to replace the factory ones and routine oil changes, 74,000 miles later I still get a rush every time I get in, she has never so much as hiccuped in a little over 4 years. For someone, who has never driven a vehicle with a hood you can see, not rounded, it may take a little while to get used to, the hood is long. Ample trunk space. The only flaw with this car is you have to be extremely careful backing out of parking spaces and changing lanes as visibility is obstructed. Am surprised and very happy that this car actually does well in winter driving weather. she holds well on snow covered roads, much better than my 4 wheel drive Chevy Blazer.

Having owner performance cars for many years I can honestly tell you that the Hellcat is always fun to get in and drive. The sound, performance and comfort is five star. You won’t be disappointed with this car. My only complaint is that they should have started out with the eidebody. The traction is really poor with the 9.5 inch wide tires. MC

Hi, I bought this 2016 challenger sxt black top edition back in April of 2016 brand new and I’d have to say that it’s an amazing car. It may just be a V6 but it’s done it job of being reliable and sturdy. I drive my car hard, I’m shocked to see that I haven’t damaged the tranny or engine but I do my own maintenance on it regularly. Anyways that little v6 helps driving on the freeway by passing up normal boring cars as well as taking long road trips, I live in the Bay Area and on one tank I can drive it to San Diego.

Right. Foot. Therapy.

Imagine every time you drive this super car it puts you in a place where it is only you and a vehicle immediately responsive to whatever driving experience you want. The Hellcat puts all of the fun back into driving to the point where even driving it slowly, while listening to the rumble of its enormously powerful engine, is a blast. But when you want power, it’s all there, including the orchestral sound of a massive V-8 topped by a supercharger telling you in a loud whine the pressures it is placing into the engine for your driving enjoyment. The Hellcat puts you into muscle car heaven each and every time you drive it, providing you with automotive therapy sought by many but experienced only by a few. Buy a Hellcat, immediately if not sooner! You will forever appreciate the experience!

I have owned this car since 2016 and love every minute I'm behind the wheel. Every time I push the start button it puts a smile on my face. I do find visibility sometimes is a problem but it's something one gets used to. The dependability has exceeded my expiations and there isn't a day that doesn't go by that I don't get several thumbs up and compliments. Best purchase I have ever made.

The Exciting Experience

2016 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker 2dr Coupe (6.4L 8cyl 6M)

In 2015 I bought a brand new Challenger SXT.My new Challenger was a true pleasure to drive. The 6 and 1/2 years I drove the Challenger I felt the same about it as the very 1st day I drove off the lot .EXCITED. The only repairs were a wheel sensor and a fuel pump fuse in all those years that is totally amazing. So I traded for a Challenger with a 5.7 Hemi with a 6 speed manual on the floor and the fun and excitement continued Followed soon by the 6.4 liter Challenger Scat Pac with automatic 8 speed automatic transmission with 8.4 touch screen navigation, sun roof, red and black iterior, shaker package, and probably all other packages to go with it.A big thing to me is trust and you can trust Dodge for reliability, quality, dependability and value. So with my experience with dodge make that move for dodge you will not be sorry and yes you heard it all rite here.

Had this vehicle for almost 5 yrs and still marvel/ enjoy it immensely! Was impressed with the quality of the interior and exterior for the base sxt model. Also was impressed with the power and quickness of the v6. It blows away everyone that drives it. Fuel mileage is great, 30+ on the highway. It is the jazz blue, and we put a rear spoiler and some black stripes on the front. Still get comments about it to this day. Good job from Dodge for having such a modern looking retro sports car.

I've owned many, many muscle cars over the years and one day I bought a '13 R/T+. After two years with that I new I wanted (needed) a 392 Scat Pack with that cool shaker hood. Without a doubt this is the best overall car I've ever owned! It smokes the tires with ease (as well as the competition), It is the best looking car on the market and the cool factor is beyond words. It cruises comfortably all day long with all the creature comforts but when you want it to go, it goes! You cannot go wrong buying a Challenger

I had flowmaster 40 mufflers installed along with a larger air intake. Also, I had the resonators removed. Now the acceleration is quicker & more responsive. The sound of the exhaust is what I always wanted, threatening but not obnoxious. The size is better then the Mustang & Camaro, which I enjoy.

We love this Car. I know there is now the Hellcat and the Demon...but this car has everything you need. Any more power and it would not be wise. The fully loaded options are a great 'Must Have' also. I love the proximity sensor and the updated rear monitor. The power and handling is very well matched also. Definitely a fun car to own.
