A car you find reasons to drive

2016 Chevrolet Volt LT 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid DD)

Purchased the car January 2, 2016. I had researched and driven every make and model that came close to 30 miles per gallon freeway and during this I found the 2016 Chevrolet volt was being delivered to dealers soon. I called dealerships within a three hundred mile radius and when the first one was delivered I rushed down state and test drove the volt. To say I was instantly impressed would be an understatement. This car is so well engineered and performance and economy were so outstanding that I instantly ordered a silver LT with comfort package and bose sound. I have 13000 miles on the car now and not a single issue. Charge overnight on 110 (solar equipped residence) and cost to drive is next to nothing. Was previously spending $300 a month on gas. Remember when you first got your license and you used to find reasons to go to the store just so you could drive? This car produces the same emotional response. A little sappy, I know, but WOW. GM has designed a wonderful combination of efficiency, technology and performance. Its now February 2017. Have owned the volt for a year. 22,000 plus miles on the odometer. Not a single problem or issue. Still quiet, powerful and an immense pleasure to drive. About 89% of total driving has been all electric. Its now February 2018. Have owned the volt for two years. 33,000 miles on odometer. Still efficient, quiet, powerful. Not a single issue. Still finding "reasons" to drive the car it is such a pleasure. Typically fill up about 9 gallons of gas about every four months. Yay. It is now August 2019. 52,000 miles on odometer. Only issue so far is the 12 volt "regular" car battery needed replacement, Still efficient, quiet, powerful. No loss of driving range on the lithium battery. Still fill up about 9 gallons of gas every four months when driving local. Have also driven to las vegas and san diego numerous times, love not having to worry about charging stations getting in the way. When on gasoline, getting 42 miles per gallon.

REAL WORLD REVIEW FOR 42,000 MILES

2016 Chevrolet Volt Premier 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid DD)

My wife and I purchased our new 2016 Volt Premier in July 2016. We now have over 42,000 miles and nearly 14,000 miles just on gasoline when in hybrid mode, which is referred to as charge sustaining mode. Overall mpg just on gasoline since new has been 48.16 mpg, overall with electric and gas combined is nearly 148 mpg. With a full electric charge in summer range is 60+ miles, in winter 40+ miles. A full electric charge is $1.84 worth of electricity. My wife and I recently went on vacation down the Oregon Coast via Highway 101 to northern California. We left our home with just one full charge of electricity, and never charged during the entire trip. Total trip 775.9 miles, 78.4 on electricity from that one full charge, 53.4 mpg for miles traveled just on gas not counting the 78.4 miles on electricity of course. MPG on gas is calculated by miles driven on gas and gas consumed, not by the gauge that read for the trip 52.5 mpg. Our Volt was fully loaded with the 2 of us and the vehicle weight per Oregon Dept. of Transportation vehicle scale was 4,150 lbs. For comparison we also have a 2010 Prius. The mpg on the Prius is nearly comparable to the mpg on our Volt when operating just on gasoline. Comfort for front passengers is fine, however not for a normal size adult for an extended period of time. The hatchback design gives you plenty of room for my wife and I to pack and still have room left over for anything we wish to take back with us. The Volt runs on 100% electric the gas motor will not start to give you additional propulsion power, which will happen with the Prius Prime, Hyundai Ioniq plug in hybrid, and Honda Clarity, when you operate those vehicles for maximum power. We like our Volt enough to purchase another when the time comes Update on 01/12/2019: Approaching 54,000 miles. nearly 17,000 miles of that just on gas, regular 87 octane at that. Overall mpg from new just on gas, is nearly 49 mpg. Recent trips this January, 135 miles avg, mpg just on gas has been 52 mpg, and 50 miles on a charge, remember this is winter here in Northwestern Oregon on the Coast not condusive for range and mpg's on gas. Summer driving range is usually well over 55 to even over 60 + miles on a charge, and mpg just on gas, 55+mpg on those same trips which is better than our 2010 Prius at times. So, our 16 Volt still going strong on the original factory tires, Michelin Energy Saver AS, 0 w 20 Mobil One synthetic motor oil in the engine crankcase

Likes-I like driving my car. Its pretty quiet inside except on freeways. Gas Engine is quiet. Performed well on road trip through the Sierras. Climbing hills is a breeze and coming down charges the battery. The entertainment system works good. After two years, no problems and the best car I have ever owned. Great for my 20 mile commute and with gas backup, I never worry about running out of battery power. Hopefully, I can keep for a long time.

Love being in my EV vehicle

This is the car you want if you don't like to pay for gas yet you don't want to be completely dependent on electricity. I have only gone to the gas station once since I purchased the Chevy Volt. Since my last fill-up of gas I am at 250 mpg. My mpg since I got the car sits at 140 mpg. This is an extremely sporty car compared to the Prius. There is a lack of space in the rear seats but is surprisingly roomy in the front and has a decent amount of trunk space. You will be amazed at the amount of power/acceleration this EV has!! The best part of this car is the cost. With the Federal and State rebates, the hit to the pocket book is minimal.

Upgrades from 2013 to 2016 model. Ride is even better as is handling. Not wild about the new display software and I hope to get used to it. The Massachusetts incentive ($2500) makes it a very attractive buy/lease.
