Great looking SUV... Quality is ok

6 years into ownership. the Premier Redline looks are still awesome on the outside. This is a Range Rover Sport look-a-like for $30k less, although a sticker of $60 is a lot for a Chevy. REALITY The acceleration is UNDERWHELMING. A bit underpowered and having front wheel drive (although I have AWD model) really makes the car less sporty and has very strong torque steer/pulling under hard acceleration. Some of the interior parts are very cheap. The rear sun shade handle cracked off 2+ years ago. Cheap part that requires much investment to fix. Not fixed under warranty, cause the warranty is over. The 3rd row seats are squeaking like crazy when someone sits on them, meanwhile, they are hardly ever used. CHEAP! The shifter will not go into Park sometimes. Actually, it’s in park, but the car will not recognize it and in order to be able to turn car completely off, without beeping constantly, you must pull the shifter trigger over and over until the chiming goes off. PAIN IN THE ASS! The seats are very comfortable and the ride of the truck on the 20’s are perfect. Such a comfortable SUV to drive. Coming out of a 2012 Pilot and this is another world. The radio is a bit confusing to look at... great sound system but the readout is not an easy quick glance. Navigation is also a bit complex but I use Waze 99% of the time anyway. Apple play is the best. Gas mileage is as advertised. So much room in 2nd and third rows. Kids love it and so does my 90lb goldendoodle. Headlights are great. Fog lights are not LED and look terrible (embarrassing) with the great super white headlights. Why they didn’t make the same, baffles me. Overall I like the car. The technology is really good, although the speedometer and other dials look a bit outdated for a 2019. Buy the redline if you like a sport look and you will really enjoy looking at it. Long distance super easy in this SUV or running around town. Update: now have 33k on the SUV. So far, overall, still a beautiful car. Here’s what’s gone wrong: 1) rear suspension spring within first 7k miles was squeaking on every bump. Had to be replaced. Seems like common problem 2) Rear deck hatch handle cracked for no good reason. Just cheap clips. (Told not covered under warranty). $100 3) Front center exhaust hanger broken at pipe weld. (Common problem on this truck). “Repaired by Chevy dealer… broke again within 10 miles of driving it (of course I’m on a 1,400 mile summer trip). Damn tin rattle every time I accelerate. Very cheap for this to happen with a well cared for car with 32k. Tired and brakes still original. Tires will most likely be replaced with about 35k 38k on them. I’m impressed they lasted this long. All tires seem to go at 20kish now a days, especially under load and lots of local driving. Most of my 33k is hwy and suburban local driving. 47k miles now - Again, Chevy/American cheap build is showing its ugly head… plastic parts just breaking on the interior. Paint in front chips super easy with road sand blast or bugs over time. At 55k mikes now - There should be a recall for the parking shifter. Upon going into park after driving and shutting the car, the electronic shifter does not recognize the shifter in park and stars so on the dash, leaves car electric on and chimes. Must pull the shifter trigger over and over until it clears. Reported to my dealer, they couldn’t care less and said $700+ to fix. I looked into it… it’s a bit labor-some to take apart and get to the cheap little plastic piece that needs to be replaced for the gear shifter to recognize it’s in park. I refuse to pay $ for a faulty and cheap design. I will keep triggering until stuck one day. Been going on for one year. Otherwise, all else ok, so far. Btw, maybe it’s the 20” wheels, but this truck is not great in snow… lots of wheel slippage and bad breaking distance. My Infiniti Q50 AWD is much safer in the snow. Damn shame. 70k on the clock now Jan 2024… 5 years into ownership. Overall, everything is still ok and all of the above stands as the truth of ownership of this SUV. I still like driving it, but can’t totally fall in love because of its underwhelming power and bad traction. 85k - All stayed the same this year. No issues, which is a great thing.

27,000 miles and loving it...

Update at 27,000 miles. Overall we Still love this vehicle And are satisfied with it. Other than issues mentioned below I notice the Bluetooth connectivity as well as direct connect is flaky. Sometimes I’ll use lightning cable to direct connect with intent it’ll immediately play whatever song I’ve selectEd on the phone. Sometimes it’ll just play through the phone and not the Traverse’s sound system. I’ve gotten to where I’ll just let it play Through phone and in a minute or two it’ll all of a sudden switch From phone to the Car’s system. But again the only thing left to confirm is it’s reliability in the long run. I’ve had no reliability issues in the first 20 months of The car’s life. Coming from a 2011 Honda Pilot LX this SUV is a definite upgrade. We decided to give the Traverse a look given its class leading cargo space (quite a bit more than the newest Pilot) and its appealing exterior design. I bought this 15 September 2018 and it’s now 31 October. I’m happy with the Traverse. Lots of in town driving and I also did a 1500 mile round trip from CO to OK. Everything went well. Very comfortable, quiet inside and absorbs bumps well. Acceleration is good. Fuel economy on highway was about 24-25mpg during the long toad trip (3 adults, 6 yr old and a 2 yr old in the fully loaded Traverse) but I’m not a slow driver by any means. I love the front camera as well as the video camera linked to the rear view mirror (I’m not talking about the backup camera). I turn it on while driving down the road most of the time. The only complaint is the climate control. Shortly after we bought it it got really hot in Denver metro. Based upon our use it seemed as though it wasn’t that quick to cool down using auto climate control...especially in middle row where our two kids are. A couple things. We started by using the auto climate control. I noticed that the air flow never got as high as I thought it would given how hot it was outside and the temp I was aiming for inside the Traverse. Weeks later I was browsing around in Settings and realized there was a setting that actually limits the airflow in auto climate control. Be sure to change that from medium to high. But regardless I think that Chevy MIGHT have tried to save a few dollars by minimizing the amount of insulation in the roof - resulting in the cold air flowing through the hot roof to the vents warming up during its journey. I can have the AC set as cold as possible (manual climate control now instead of auto) in both front seats and rear seats and the front seats are getting cold air while the rear is getting warmer air. For whatever it’s worth I own the black (exterior and interior) Traverse.

Great Car - but not all features

I purchased this vehicle AFTER having a 2013 fully loaded Traverse for the past 5 years. I LOVED my 2013 and it's been a wonderful car. I was excited to get the newest model and upgrade. Most things are truly an upgrade but there's a few things that are really disappointing. First of all, this car did gain extra space even over the 2013. I test drove the new Pathfinder (horrible 3rd row, cannot even compare with the Traverse)...same with the Ford Explorer. Much more room for the person in the Traverse sitting in the 3rd row as well as cargo/grocery storage. All the new safety features are nice and I love the birds eye view on the camera. Now for the bad. While the birds eye view addition is great...the actual back up camera itself went backwards in time. The view is blurry, not as great in the dark AND can hardly see down rows when backing up. The 2013 backup camera beats this one by far...I NEVER worried when backing out of parking spots as you could see so much to the left and right of the row..this new camera is horrible and I have to spend more time using mirrors to double check my view. I would've hoped with newer technology the image would be the same or better. The other bummer is that if there is ANY moisture on the car at all, whether it's rain or condensation...the minute you open up the back passenger doors water drips right down onto the seat and your head. We have to keep towels in the car now to wipe off the seat before you sit on it. I understand if it's pouring..but the weatherstripping or design is flawed and it's a pain to have these drips all the time. Also the car overall just doesn't seem put together great. The day we brought it home one of the fenders had snapped off partially, dealer fixed it. But there are gaps and spaces in a lot of the 'moulding' (not sure what you call it...just doesn't seem like all the body parts are super secure). Overall though..the car is beautiful, wonderful features and still great to drive..I just wish there weren't days I missed my old one so much due to the camera. If you are new to having a backup camera, you may not even notice. The birds eye camera is great for parallel parking too!

After test driving it overnight, we fell in love with the power; fuel efficiency and interior comfort it provides. The over all look and feel is amazing. You know the saying, “Happy wife happy life.” My wife was in awe with the comfort and room. I was impressed with the infotainment system and alll the USB ports. NO need for the kids fighting over charging! 100% satisfied.
