Absolutely LOVE my 2015 Suburban LTZ (but....)

I really love this car and very happy with the purchase. This is much bigger than my 2006 Honda Pilot that I was happy to get ride of (that thing was a lemon; coming from a guy who's owned 2 Hondas in the last 22 years). This drives well, not as lively as the 6.2L Denali, but my wallet and gas mileage appreciates that. Love all the radar and safety features, hands free, etc. Radar comes in hand when parking this lovely beast. Mileage is incredible. Over 2500 miles so far and I'm averaging in the 18+ mpg range. Mixed driving City/Hwy. On the Hwy, I got 26 mpg to San Antonio from Austin. I was ecstatic! Update May 2016: This car saved my life. I was hit head on in accident (Volvo S40 slid into me, doing 50+, while I was sitting still) and the car was amazing! Airbags and the car crumbled in all the right spots. I've got whiplash, concussion and some neck and back issues, but I'm alive and the car kept me safe. I won't drive anything else. I insisted on a Suburban Rental that afternoon. This rental Suburban got 27.1 mpg on a recent trip. Crazy good mileage. I consistently get 22+ mpg in my LTZ on road trips and trips to clients. I ordered a new Suburban LTZ to replace the other one that was Totaled in the accident. Chevy, you've got a customer for life!

I use this for work (Limousine company) and had been using a 2011. I had to change to the new body style. This had some big shoes to fill. Comparing the two is difficult since there are such drastic changes from 2014 to 2015. First the positive: the look is a bit more square, yet streamlined. Much cleaner, sharper and overall more aesthetically pleasing. Halogen headlights and interior lights make it much easier to see inside and out. The on-board computer system is absolutely night and day. The old version is bare bones while the newer model is far more advanced. The interface is easily navigated and concise. Bluetooth and wireless work well. The interior is clean, the leather stiff but soft, and there seems to be a little bit more leg room in the second row. Step on the gas and this thing flies for something this big and heavy, but beware....it can suck down the gasoline. The ride, when I first purchased it, was stiff and bumpy...not nearly as nice as previous versions. I lowered the tire pressure a couple of pounds and that seemed to help quite a bit but, of course, this leads to a bit lower fuel mileage. The lane control and proximity warnings were a pain in the butt (well thigh, anyway) at first, but you get used to them quickly and I'm actually glad they are there. The LT version is so much more advanced and luxurious than previous LT models. This LT is almost as luxurious as previous LTZ models. Now the negative: Although there aren't many negatives here, they are a bit of a drawback. The legroom in the 2015 and newer is not as much as previous models. I don't care what the specs say, there is less legroom. I'm 6 feet tall and that seems to be the limit unless you lower the actual seat which will bring it back a couple of inches. The instrument panel seems it could have been tilted up a little to be read more clearly (ie, speedometer is tough to judge). To me the absolute worst part is the side view mirrors. They are a LOT smaller than previous models and it's much tougher to see what's next to you on the drivers side, although the built-in convex mirror helps a little. A little, but not much. This takes getting used to. Other than that, honestly....I'm quite happy with the vehicle. I purchased the 2015 model in mid 2017, so it has a few miles on it. It was also purchased from a dealership as CERTIFIED, so everything was up to new or almost new condition. If you're not purchasing as CERTIFIED......a couple of things to watch for. The A/C condensers have a tendency to go. It's not an incredibly expensive repair, but if the one you're looking at either blows warm air or "needs a belt", make them change the condenser. GM has run low on them, but is replacing them. Also, the brakes can be stiff one time you use them, hard the next. That can be an issue. Again, not an actual GM recall, but should be looked at and repaired before you purchase. Third....there was a tiny vibration in the vehicle at highway speeds (mine started at about 60 mph). I was told it was everything from GM not welding the roof to the frame properly to front end bushings to not having the tires rotated enough. I asked the dealership to put on a new set of tires with balance and front end alignment, and VOILA....the vibration disappeared and hasn't returned in the over 2000 miles I've driven the vehicle. I know this is a bit wordy, but I'm also aware that many Suburban buyers have been previous Suburban owners, so they will understand the comparison. I've also owned quite a few different types of SUV's both for limousine work and personal use. This Suburban model is as good as any and better than most. Considering the money you will pay, it's definitely worth the purchase.

I loved everything about the look and feel and interior space of this vehicle. I hope they have made corrections in the newer vehicles, but our new model 2015 Suburban has been a lemon. We do have a lot of miles on our vehicle, but have taken very good care of it. Dealer mechanic killed our radio when still under warranty and had to replace it. All we wanted was a refresh of the software because the radio controls and touch screen were awful. The front seat has always shimmied some when making turns. The seat belt in front passenger seat has been faulty on multiple occasions and would not lock in the belt. The second row DVD player is no longer working. We have had two air conditioner repairs made within 6 months of each other because the hose has been shotty. We had the 5th cylinder misfiring, and had to replace a coil. We just had our brake booster go out. Mechanic has worked for Chevrolet and now in business for himself still swears the suburbans have always been the best. He has never seen some of these repairs on a Suburban before. He said, don't buy the first year of a model change. Lesson learned! It is shameful that GM allowed this vehicle to come to market when it was obviously sub par to their previous models. These vehicles are obscenely priced, but we justified that it would last and we would drive it to the ground. Little did we know that would be a little over 2 years later and we are probably upside down on it now. We need a car this big and with the towing capacity of this vehicle, but now I don't know what to replace it with. I don't trust GM.

DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my experience with this vehicle as my agency assigned vehicle (emergency services). This 2015 suburban replaced my 2009 suburban. I started driving this vehicle in October and I just turned 10,000k miles this week (26 Jan). PROs: Very nice ride, car-like feel. Quiet. Great support in the seats. Smooth but not soft. Solid and stable at high speed (I've hit 102 with it, running lights and siren). Corners well for a vehicle of this size. Interior has a nice quality feel to it. I love the USB ports! Plenty of cargo room for my purpose (after we pitched the 3rd row seat that it wasn't supposed to come with, according to purchasing spec). The new headlamps are awesome, project well! CONs: For my purpose, the acceleration sucks! There is a huge delay in response from the gas peddle to wheels turning. At times, it is as if the truck is trying to figure out which gear to hit. By comparison, my personal vehicle is a 2500 Ram with the 6.4L Hemi, and also has a 6-speed transmission. There is no hesitation on my Ram when I punch the peddle. Chevy needs to work on this point. Another pet peeve is the windshield wiper controls. The outboard control operates the rear wiper blade / washer. The center control on the stick operates the front wipers / washers. That is completely backwards and anti-intuitive. The front wipers being what we use the most - why would that control not be the most immediately accessible in the outboard position on the turn stick? My 2009 suburban had the same stupid stick. I was hoping Chevy had changed that by now. My only other complaint is the low ground clearance. For a 4-wheel drive, it sits low. So low in fact, those running boards it came with are a trip hazard. I'm removing and tossing them as well. I'm now looking into a lift package. 75% of the value of 4WD is ground clearance. During Snowmeggeden 2016, I was plowing with my front air dam (also useless) and bumper. I've got to get some lift on this thing. OVERALL: Still a very nice vehicle and I enjoy driving it, despite the minor annoyances. If you are not doing crazy stuff the 4-wheel drive thing shouldn't be an issue for you. When my older pickup dies, I will likely replace it with a suburban.

I fell into the trap of having to have the new model Suburban LTZ when it came out. I made a huge mistake. every 6 months we have had to bring it to the dealership for repairs on things that CHevrolet has just decided to cut corners on. our roof has leaked 2x. once in warranty, then again out of warranty and we had to BEG for them to cover it because obviously there was a shoddy first repair. the second time was so bad we had to get a new headliner, which they did pay for out of pocket. our first 6 months of driving in 95 degree weather in so cal with 3 kids in the back, our AC just gave out. Took it to the dealership and it was a cracked AC line! the mechanic told us that basically GM buys cheap parts and factors in the failure rate as part of the buying process, knowing they will have to replace a certain percentage. Once in a while my automatic extending running boards decide to not come out, my backup camera will cut out intermittently, and my drivers seat does the easy acces thing where it pushes the seat ALL THE WAY BACK even though I have that feature turned off. Then for about a month, it wont. I also had to already have the weather stripping replaced on both front windows because they started peeling up. Now I'm at my final straw, I'm driving on the highway and my passenger fron door B Pillar modling popped off and started flapping gloriously in the wind. We have the best looking vehicle on the road, but I had to pull over, tie a rope around my b pillar and continue the drive. on a 2015 BURB! The car looks pretty, rides OK, I adore the remote start, 4 heated seats, heated steering wheel, 2 dvd screens and leather seats but I'm now looking to get this curse off my hands. I had to write this review because there are so many positive reviews, it seems unfair to not let the buyer beware. don't make the same $60 mistake. Please.

I bought a 2015 Suburban in February of 2016, since I have had the rain sense windshield wipers sensor go out, the door ding sensor go out, the throttle response sensor (twice) go out, parts of the outside of the car fall off, the sunroof leak, the rubber covers on the sunroof sides tear out, the DVD system go out, and now my brakes are out. Took it to the dealership they said it was the brake booster, they fixed that, picked it up yesterday, still no brakes. Now, they're saying best case I need a vacuum pump, worst case I need a vacuum pump, vacuum pump to booster hose, vacuum brake booster, and a brake master cylinder. I am so frustrated, this is a $70,000+ car, it shouldn't be having problems like this.

Brake pump factory defect. Dealership waited for me to go out of warranty so I pay to fix it. Had to change front rotors on 20,000 miles. This is the truck full of problems. GM is selling straight garbage! They only spend money on packing the car instead of putting in wood quality parts.. total garbage.

severe buffeting/booming, no GM Support

2022, not much to report other than the paint just gets worse with time. It runs well. It's been paid off for years at this point so I will probably just paint it and keep it until I can get an all-electric replacement be it a 'burban, Expedition, or similar. Well its 2020 and the truck is about 5 years old. The roof paint looks as though it is about 20 years old with the base coat fading under the clear. This truck certainly has its virtues, it tows very well, is actually quite capable off road (locker really works), excellent in the snow, etc... does truck stuff very well. However, for the price point, the buffeting and fading paint are just unacceptable. I don't think I will buy another especially since they no longer have a solid rear axle. That rear axle was a key defining feature vs. the Expedition but now it's more of a toss up. Update, December 2017, I fabricated some rubber supports to wedge between the roof rack and roof to keep it from buffeting/booming. GM is a nightmare to deal with on this issue. These trucks are simply flawed. They have extremely thin sheet metal that is poorly supported. I would recommend waiting for the next body restyle before considering a purchase. Hopefully the sheetmetal gets thicker where it needs to be and is better supported. Drive it a lot before you buy. These trucks have an issue where the roof comes detached from the roof bows. This causes cabin booming like being inside a big drum. The roof will start to flex causing pressure changes that hurt your ears. It sounds like driving with a window down when they are all up. Our dealer reattached the roof bows but they came detached in a few months and the issues returned. GM will not support anymore work and will not return calls regarding the buy back we had been pursuing. It appears only legal action would work at this stage. Beyond this issue the truck is great. Fuel economy is incredible for a vehicle of this size. The interior is best in class. Unfortunately, this booming/buffeting issue is to hard to live with.

Great all around vechile. Comfortable like your couch, pulls like a bull, runs like a deer, looks like the Secret Service just rolled into town. This is my second Suburban I love it. My friends and family really like it they all want to go everywhere in it. Now at 97,000 miles the air conditioning has had some work, the rear end failed but that was covered by the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. The door gaskets are starting to let road noise in--- but for the miles it has been a great vehicle. Update #2 the rear end failed for a 2nd time within 10,000 miles but Chevrolet covered it.

Do your homework before buying a 2015-2019 Suburba

I've owned 16 GM Tahoe/Yukon/Suburbans over the past 20 years as I worked for GM out of college. My current 2015 Suburban has been by far the least reliable vehicle I've ever owned of any make or model. The first issue was that the transmission won't shift into or out of 4 wheel drive when the temps is below freezing. This is major problem as I live in Boston and got a 4wd car for the winter snow. This problem has not been fixed and I've been told there is no way to fix it. So far the car has had eight recalls which is higher than any other car I've owned. In addition I've had to replace the alternator, both AC compressors, tailgate actuators, side mirror motors, airbag, ECU, and the power steering pump. The car is currently at the dealership and I've been told now the high pressure fuel pump, the strut mounts and all 4 struts need to be replaced. The total cost to all of these repairs to me excluding what was fixed under warranty is well over $15,000. There is no point arguing with GM at to whether this car is a lemon as all of these problems are well documented and know to GM. They simply refuse to recall them as it affects every one of the 2015 models made. Do yourself a favor and steer well clear of the current model Suburban.

Exterior design it's very bad

The old model was way better because the exterior design didn't have any removable applique in it , from 2015 though now GM changed the exterior design trying to make this vehicle look better yes it is looking better but it's a bull trash because if you buy this vehicle get ready after your warranty expires to spend money on it because the little peaces outside located exactly by the doors they giving a name ( applique) going to missing all the times when you're driving in windy season, they are 6 off them and cost $74 each just for the parts I called GM about that I talked to someone he said I'm sorry about that because your warranty just expired. Guess what buyers longest you have those vehicles get ready to spend money to replace new applique at least every 6 months

Nothing beats a Suburban for hauling lots of stuff

Our 78,000-mile 2015 Suburban LT continues to perform the tasks we bought it for without any issues. No repairs. We found an all black, leather interior, bench seat second row, LT - the bench seat is hard to find and much more useful. We move seven people, two dogs, and all the luggage for a holiday weekend 150 miles each way to the lake while getting 17-19 miles per gallon on the highway. This is our third Suburban and follows one Ford Expedition EL Limited. I liked the Ford but the redesigned-for-2015-Suburban rides better, is much quieter and gets much better gas mileage. The earlier Suburbans were very poorly designed and put together, very noisy (there must have been a time when Chevy thought owners WANTED to hear engine exhaust noise), and got 12-13 miles per gallon on the highway. It is amazing how much storage space is behind the third row seats when they are up. The quality of the leather is much better than before, and the seats are much more comfortable. GM has a hit with the driver's seat that vibrates different edges of the seat to let the driver know about proximity to objects and lane departure. Every steering wheel should put the heated wheel button on the wheel, but they don't. Cruise control is accurate and very easy to control with the left thumb on the steering wheel. The transition between 4-cylinder and 8-cylinder power is seamless and virtually undetectable unless you're looking at the information screen on the dash. One can't help but be aware of the many reported problems with 2015 Suburbans (even Consumer Reports finds great fault with them) but we have been lucky and love this vehicle. It is the Swiss Army Knife of family haulers.

I bought a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban 2LT, used in 2017 with 17,000 miles on it. The car was nice and it seemed like a good deal at the time because the brand new ones were pushing $60,000-$70,000. The car seemed very nice until the a/c unit stopped working to which the dealer where I bought it said "a slight leak in the line we fixed it". This is interesting now because I took it in for regular service (free oil changes) and I asked them to top off the freon because the a/c was not blowing cold. The service advisor came out when the car was finished and said "it seems like one of the a/c lines is bad so I don't know how long this will last", and yet he still charged me $108.00 to refill the freon. When I had barely had the car 4 or 5 months the trim piece on one of the windows came loose and was getting worse by the day. The service advisor at the dealer flatly refused me on the chevy warranty and the extended warranty the con man up front sold me (which was also worthless). Luckily a deer ran into my side and while in the bodyshop they fixed all of these trim pieces called appliques' and I haven't had a problem since. I have experienced some of the other problems that have been reported here like wind noise and sometimes the engine does bog down searching for a gear which wasn't a big deal but is now. The biggest thing is that I tried to trade it this past June because of the 0% and the look of the new silverados but the chevy dealers I tried to deal with were giving me trade in values at around $20,000!!! I paid twice that for used and I understand that I will not get absolute top dollar for trade in but it could have been a lot closer. I was looking at another new car last January and I was given a trade offer of $28,000. which was much better and a lot closer to what I had in my mind. The car is beautiful and I really enjoy it and I have gone to great lengths to upgrade it and protect it(carwash memberships, weathertech mats and rain guards, hood protector). My most recent problem is rail dust rust spots. I only know this because I have a good friend that had the same thing on his 2015 Silverado. When a car is shipped by rail the hot steel wheels on steel rails cause hot particles to rise and embed in the clear coat on the vehicle. The friend had it repaired at the dealership for free. I didn't even know this was a thing until I searched it. I still love the car despite all of these things and the other things that make me nuts(the valve tick at idle, the faulty telemetrics, etc. The plan was to drive this for four more years until retirement as I believe it or not, commute with it(cruise control set at 74 mph gets me 19-20 average). Again, I love the car but not the build quality, the monstrous depreciation by giant chevy dealers, and the nit picky stuff too numerous to mention here. If I were to by another SUV of this size (which I wouldn't) It would probably be a Toyota Sequoia. I will likely buy a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma. I am a life long GM/Chevy man but this suburban has totally let me down and will likely be my last chevy. The wife just traded her Buick for a volvo and sooner or later I will trade this Chevy. I still have the car and I now have 110,000 miles on it and was ready to trade again and getting a much better trade in due to the used car shortages but I am again keeping it, maybe not til the wheels fall off but still definitely not buying another. The new suburbans are beautiful but way too expensive for me.

2,500 Mile In My 2015 Suburban - A Memo To The Brand Team

Just rolled over 2,500 in my 2015 Suburban LTZ 4x4 (MSRP just over $ 71k). I have driven a Suburban since 1995 and I think this my 16th or 17th. LIKES 1) The comfort of the ride and (lack of) wind noise at speed is unbelievably quiet and in spite of the mass of the vehicle it is taunt. Have owned higher dollar Mercedes and BMW sedans and this Burb is better than both of them. 2) Gas mileage is def up from my last one (2013 LTX 4x4). Trip computer actually showed one segment at 20.4 MPG (highway at 75 cruise). Around town is right at 14 MPG...which is an improvement.

Chevy knows the A/C condesors are defective but refused any warranty when ours cracked at 51K miles. $74K and i get two years out of the A/C? They wanted $1800 to repair it (got it fixed for $800). My 1999 Expedition that this junk replaced still has A/C with 188K miles on it. The haptic sensors in the drivers seat do not work. The second row blue ray screen does not work (the third row one still wolrks for now). The wireless charger does not work. The exterior trim pieces on the door (verticle ones behind windows) all came off (fixed those with a little two-part epoxy). The transmission shifts hard occasionally and is slyuggish. The rear cargo area is terrible unless you like that it is angled so stuff constantly falls out when you open the rear. The fourth time i opened the sunroof it tore the baffle that seals the sides when you tilt glass up. Dealer said it was out of warranty. This is my 15th vehicle and my first, and last, Chevrolet product. It tows my trailer wonderfully and the 12 speaker Bose stereo sounds nice except when trying to listen to Sirrius as the satelite reception is awful. Total disappointment.

This is my third sub. You cannot beat it for hauling the family around the country. Pros, everything except for the transmission. My sub hunts for the correct gear. I use the manual transmission when starting up hills. GM has to create a transmission that shifts in milliseconds not seconds. It drives me crazy.

2015 Chevy suburban LTZ, AC condenser went out on the truck, so no ac, for this newer version suburban...no support from dealership, not from Gm..... therefore, I can't give this vehicle a 5 🌟 rating........ maybe when Gm do a recall to fix this problem, my view will change, until then...be safe and careful when choosing the GM brand.

3rd and LAST Suburban! This grossly over priced vehicle has been an ongoing nightmare and cost a fortune in time and inconvience during warranty and loads of cash after warranty. Just about everything you can think of has gone wrong with this thing. Broken motor mount, fogged headlamps, ac condensor, bent push rod, broken rocker arm (different cylinder), wobbly driver seat, broken seat heat (btw, takes 20 minutes of driving to warm up unless it's summer and the vented part not so great either). Now at 60k miles the magnetic ride suspension is shot - $2K! Too many other issues to list, BIGGEST POS EVER!! $75,000 IN MISERY!!

Our a.c. just exploded, literally. We have had to take it in to have the seatbelt fixed 3 times, our console latch broke, the radio does not pause any longer, the 2 plastic inserts on the interior roof which attach seatbelt and the other that covers the a.c. vent are both broken and the battery died at 40k miles although it is a 60k mile battery and dealership wouldn't cover it. We do not have young kids and we are not rough on our car. Our other car is a Lexus and we never have these issues.

I got married, created a Brady Bunch of sorts (6 of us now) and my Titan wasn't going to cut it anymore. We wanted something all of us could fit into with ease. And have room in cargo area for road trips. Only the GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade ESV offer equivalent space, nothing else comes close. The steering on the 2015+ vehicles feels great, especially compared to older GM trucks. Gas mileage is fine considering. We have 82k miles on ours. This is my first ever domestic vehicle and so far I'm impressed. Mine has a Hennessy HPE-500 supercharger on it, and it really moves for a big truck. The brakes are adequate, but im tempted to swap in the Brembo brakes from the RST versions of this chassis. Need to stop fast if you can go fast... Ease of access into the rear seat is doable for an adult, only the Toyota Sequoia was easier and more comfortable in the 3rd row. However, there's no space behind the 3rd row in the Toyota. This isnt your grandfathers Suburban. There are so many features on the LTZ, it may as well be a Lexus, except it's not all that quiet.. heated steering wheel, air conditioned seats, bluetooth, BOSE audio is sufficient for anyone except an extreme audiophile.. I'd buy it again without hesitation.

Do NOT get a 2015 Suburban!!! Please, heed my advice! Well known for transmission and engine failures. My tranny just died. New one, $6700! Chevy knows of problems yet wont recall. One of thee worst years for Suburbans. A 2004 is better than a 2015. P on Chevy!

I LOVE my 2015 Suburban. I am thrilled with its performance and reliability. I feel so safe in the vehicle, I love all of the bells and whistles. The only problem I have had with the vehicle has recently cropped up—the dual climate controls won’t sync and the rear controls stay locked to the back seat so someone up front must adjust them for the rear passengers. The only other minor complaint is that for 62k, the nav updates should be included, at least for the first several years. Dual DVD/Blu Ray works great still, love the tow package, moonroof, the auto lift gate, the heated seats/steering wheel, and the Bose sound system is wonderful. Kids/dogs/parent approved!!

Bought the vehicle February 2021 with 90k miles…thus far we have $5500 in repairs, air ride shocks failed in rear, $700 each plus labor, front driver’s strut failed - ruining the tire. $350 for the strut, (which is also an electronically sensored part that forces price higher than normal.) We have 5 children, so it is important to have a full sized SUV, we love the look but there are gremlins coming out of a vehicle that GM charges a massive premium for. I always work on my own vehicles, I will be the only one working on this one moving forward due to price of parts.

112K miles. So fare very reliable. Stealership want 850$ for antenna. I replaced it for 50$. Display software expires and 3rd party company forces you to pay 120 $ for one time thumb drive upgrade. Front and rear lower body panels hit curbs and drag in snow, always slighty askew. Tow package works great on 5,500lb boat. Just toss everything in back no need for packing
