Love This Truck

I read many of the negative reviews regarding the 2014 model so I waited for the 2015 to come out. I really like this truck. It is very quiet and rides great. The interior fit and finish is excellent. I have 1200 miles on it now with no problems. I drove several 2014 models and they all had a bit of a vibration to them. I believe it was due to flat spots on the Good Year Wrangler tires. I went ATV riding with my sons over the weekend and there was no internet or phone service, so the hotspot in the truck really came in handy. The truck gets great mileage when it utilizes the 4 cyl mode (I think it could stay in 4 cyl mode longer) but seems just OK in 8 cyl mode.

I purchased this pickup new toward the end of 2015, at a great price. I had the 6ft bed on the Crew Cab LT 4x4 with the 5.3L V8. I've since traded it in. The pros: it was exceptionally comfortable, especially for a tall driver like my (I'm 6'4"), with tons of headroom, legroom and adjustments in the driver's side seat; it was very quiet; it was generally smooth and well behaved on the road, especially for a full sized pickup; it was convenient with the bed for hauling whatever we needed, and had a great deal of storage in the cabin; and it was good in the snow even with the stock tires. It also got surprisingly good gas mileage on the highway thanks to the cylinder deactivation - at times I'd get 26+ mpg on flat trips, with three people in the cab and a bunch of stuff in the bed. I loved the hillstart feature, so I'd never worry about rolling backward down a hill (and there are some bad ones around me)..And the rearview camera (when it worked right - see below) was absolutely essential maneuvering in an urban environment. Cons: I had a leak from day 1 that turned out to be the shark's fin antenna - that was replaced under warranty, and the dealer told me it was a common issue and they were replacing them left and right, leaving me to wonder...why not just fix it from the start? I had several recalls on the truck, e.g. the seat belt tensioner. Right after the warranty ended the pickup started having electrical gremlins. The rearview camera would fail to turn off after shifting back into drive sometimes, leaving me unable to use the head unit for anything (e.g. radio, phone). A few times the head unit was just unresponsive to any input, regardless of the rearview camera, until I shut the truck off. The driver's side window would fail to roll up all the way about 90% of the time by the time I traded in the pickup (it would go all the way up, then back down about 2 cm); I usually could *not* get it to stay up until I shut the engine off completely and restarted, meaning (if I was driving and couldn't stop) I'd get rain coming in. I also found water on the steering wheel toward the end of the time with the pickup and could not locate where the drips were coming from - perhaps the shark's fin again (no moon/sun roof in this pickup)...Finally, the resale value was terrible. GM has put out so many incentives to drive sales that I could not get nearly as much for the truck as I figured, even after quoting Kelly Blue Book and trying multiple dealers. I've driven GM trucks for years. I had a 1992 GMC Sierra 2500, a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, and a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. I love the comfort - like I said, for a tall driver, GM truck's can be hard to beat. The reliability is what gets me hung up now. I just don't have the same faith in the GM trucks anymore. That '92 GMC went 10 years hauling horse trailers and campers and the biggest issue we had with it was a dead alternator and a thermostat that went out about years 7 and 8, respectively. The 2015 Silverado was a more advanced truck in nearly every way, far quieter with a smoother ride (although the 92 Sierra's captain's chairs were better) but those electrical issues, leaks and recalls caused me to lose the GM faith. I miss this pickup in many ways, but I don't miss the nagging little problems that seemed poised to turn into big, expensive repairs. I'm writing this because I use reviews on Edmunds and other places when looking at cars for myself and my family. You may have a very different experience with your pickup, but definitely be aware of the risks when you buy. Have a mechanic you trust go over any used pickup you're thinking of buying. YMMV.

2015 Z71 6.2L PILE OF GARBAGE

Do not buy a Chevy truck period!!!!!!! After spending thousands on the fully loaded Z71 with the 6.2L engine, I had test drove many, so when I saw a certain dealership had one available, I went and bought it. I have had it for a year now and after taking the hunk of junk back to the dealership 5 different times the transmission was still slipping. The truck is back at the dealership and now they tell me it needs a new transmission. Funny how they waited until the time to enact the lemon law passed by one month to admit there is something wrong with the truck. Back to Toyota, after 30 years of Toyota trucks and Honda cars for the wife. We are both going back to Toyota ASAP

So I purchased my silverado in april of '15 and have had nothing but issues with it since. Around June '15 the high pressure AC line ruptured and caused an AC failure, ok its hot in Texas. Both factory Goodyear tires ruptured in August after only 10k miles and nearly destroyed both factory 20's on the passenger side, GM would not replace, again its Goodyear. Now in January my rear main seal "failed", my service guy's words, caused an large oil puddle in my driveway. This caused the dealership to have to remove the engine and replace the seal and cover, cover? yes the cover had to be replaced as well, because the tech mentioned that he had to perform a seal replacement on another same year truck and the cover was warped. And lastly we are in March of '16 and now my transmission is slipping....bad, I hate this truck and will never buy another Chevy as long as I live.

I bought a brand new truck from CLIENT NEWELL IN ROSEBURG OREGON they could get me to buy the truck fast enough. I thought I bought a good truck until it hit two hundred miles. then it went to CRAP. the truck shutters every time you slow down to go around a corner and try to accelerate for about fifty feet then it downs shifts 2 or 3 gears and then takes of like a bat out of hell. It also does this if you try to accelerate up hill. My wife explains it like driving a 5 speed manual car or truck and leaving it in 5 gear at 20 mph and try to accelerate, it sacks the whole car until you down shift, horrible. well I have taking back to CLIENT NEWELL IN ROSEBURG OREGON and they told me to keep driving it and get used to it that's the way it is. they will not let me bring my truck back its getting worse. If that's the way it is, then why would it get worse. I was never rude either. so don't buy a truck from CLIENT NEWELL IN ROSEBURG OREGON unless you want to be treated rudely. I have to go two hours out of town for some other dealer ship to help me. Just wanted to shop locally.

This is still a very new truck but what a winner. I traded my 07 Silverado on this one and could not be happier. Decided this time to look at Fords as well as Chevy and GMC. Drove the F-150 and it took the entire test drive for the trucks a/c to cool it down. Big no no for me being from south Florida. First impression of the Silverado was love at first drive. Extremely quiet for what is an "offroad" set up with the Z71 package. Nice tight ride and handling. The biggest change for me is the mileage. Real world driving city and highway on the very first tank 17.5 mpg. Best so far was 21.8! I will never look at another truck again, Chevy for life.

Love the truck, HATE the OnStar!

Truck is great, BUT after buying it found out that the navigation doesn't work without OnStar putting in the address. As a Realtor, I am used to putting in 20 address locations for the day, then taking clients to each of them. Just press a button and the next is set, conversations are not interrupted or anything. Now, I have to contact OnStar after each visit and have them put the next location in. Finally quit using it an am just using my Android phone instead. Found out that the remote start and door locking is also OnStar too. Much as I like the truck, I will not buy another vehicle that has OnStar, it ties in too closely with the other systems. Then having them call you to tell you about the special offers???? Come on, too much! Found out you can't remove it either. Sound like I am totally against it? Yep, you bet! Would rather have a self driving car. Also, mine has the V8 but that wasn't a choice on this website.

Traded my 2013 Tundra for the Chevy . Best move move I could have made! Rides like a dream. Got 23. 4 MG on the first road trip. Handles much much better than the Tundra, easier to drive, get in and out of and park. It drops from 8 to 4 effortlessly. I have had Fords, Dodges, and Toyota. Chevy is the best by far.

I have 2015 Silverado 1500. With the 4.3 V6 EcoTec and the 6-speed auto trans. I've had the truck for 6 months now and so far so good. No major issues. PROS -The engine is strong and smooth -Interior is much better than previous models -Steering is great, new electric steering makes long drives effortless -Load capacity is good, minimum squatting - Eaton G80 locking rear end works well CONS -This sounds a little stupid, however I'm 5'6". And the driving position is not optimal for someone of my height.Mostly due to the pedal position - The DI (Direct Injection) is loud - Small interior rattles occur in warmer weather very frustrating - (LARGEST ISSUE) The 6-speed trans is worrying. Some times it works great and at other times it is extremely clunky and slow. With only 12k on the truck it does concern me about the life time of the transmission with these issues

I bought a new, very pretty 2015 Silverado 4x4 5.3 crew cab last February. At first the truck seemed really nice. That quickly changed! After driving about 1000 it started jerking, stumbling and fumbling in between shifts. I took it to the dealer. They advised me that there is a built in delay between shifting that can cause this. I was advised to just keep driving it and it would go away as it would adapt to my driving. It didn't! It actually got worse. The truck was back i the shop a total of 5 times for the same problem, never a fix. A representative from GM even told me there was a high number of complaints on this vehicle and GM had actually bought back many of these so now they consider this issue a "normal characteristic". After much frustration over this, and no help from GM or the dealer it was time to either get out of the truck or go after them with the lemon law. A lemon law attorney said it was a solid case and they had numerous cases against this particular model truck, however, it would most likely take quite some time to resolve. I did not want this thing to drag on so I traded this truck in on a Ford F150 FX4 and what a difference! Although I lost money on the crappy Silverado, it was worth it to get a truck that performs like it should. I will never go back to GM for anything!

I was a loyal Toyota owner for 17 years and felt like I went out on a limb for Chevy to get a crew cab with a standard 6.5ft bed and better fuel economy. I am completely satisfied and don't regret the switch for a second. The truck has surpassed my expectations. It's quiet, stiff enough to be a truck but not entirely uncivilized, comfortable, and very roomy. Fit and finish are excellent and build quality is solid. I received exceptional customer service and an excellent price. Fuel economy surpassed my expectations and is actually on par with the EPA ratings if you don't have a lead foot. I read bad hype about buying another truck brand but I have a feeling those folks just had it set in their minds they wanted the other brand. If anything I'm a Toyota guy as I've had so few problems with them, but this truck has me sold. I'm 100% satisfied and excited to see where my Chevy takes me and my family. As for the a/c not having vents in the back seat; I certainly didn't need them in the heat of South Carolina. Point the vents down the middle and let her rip. In a few minutes the voluminous cab is comfortable for all in well over 100 degree, 90% humidity weather. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Thought I was on a car driving down the highway and off road, the AWD feature of the transfer case is remarkable. I maintained excellent control on washboard gravel roads without having to leave it in high 4WD, and the computer intervened long before I could break it loose. This is an outstanding truck. Unless you're dead set on another brand or are looking for some flashy ride with more flair than purpose, you need look no further than the Silverado. Overall this is a wonderful truck that has everything I needed and then some. Absolutely no issues in 7 months of ownership.

Many many problems with my 2015, numerous noises and issues Chevy is having a hard time fixing. Many problems with their financing department as well. Over all I love the truck but am hating everything els. Never going to buy another Chevy sadly, tundra will be next maybe they can actually take care of me and not sell me a brand new pile.... Not happy at all right now and I only have 6k miles on it. 44 grand for a truck that goes down the drain before its broke in no thanks.

It's a great truck, I love it, and have no major complaints and have had zero mechanical issues for 8 months. Good things - it rides well, is very comfortable, the interior is great, connectivity to devices is great (bluetooth connects very well). It also performs very well in snow. It's roomy, has great storage (at least in the front part of the cab). The remote start is great in hot/cold weather to prepare the cab for comfort. I get lots of looks while driving, which is nice. The factory lined box is great, and the rear lighting works well too. So negatives - for a $50k truck to not have navigation is a travesty. Sorry, I'm not going to subscribe to OnStar for personal navigation. I'd much rather just use my phone. While console storage is cavernous, I'd like some storage compartments under the rear seat for tow straps, bungee chords, etc. so I don't have to put then in the bed (I installed an after market roll top cover). The stereo is also lacking for a $50k truck. Sounds like the Blazer I bought in 1999. It sounds like a ghetto blaster from 1984. The power is great when you can get to it, but you have to really drop the hammer to get there. I'd be more willing to accept the lack of acceleration if the gains in fuel economy were worth it, but as of today, my lifetime fuel economy per the computer is 15.7 mpg. The annoyances don't make me regret purchasing the truck at all. But, seems like Chevy really shaved costs to make the price point for a "special edition". The extras on the Midnight are cool, but for a few extra bucks, Chevy could have made this a super awesome vehicle instead of just a very good one.

Buyers beware!!! If you're thinking of purchasing a 2014 -2019 Silverado,Tahoe or Suburban think again. I purchased my 2015 Silverado 1500 crew cab 5.3 eng from Autonation in Pembroke Pines FL in Aug of 2015. Certified vehicle with 13,600 miles. All was well at first, but then..... Engine vibrates excessively at idle once it reaches normal operating temperature. Transmission is constantly confused and doesn't know whether to upshift or downshift. Due to transmission, vehicle sputters and hesitates during acceleration. At times hard shifts btwn 1st and 2nd. Now while driving AC shuts off and "Stabiltrak" is displayed on cluster. This occurs for 5 seconds, then display disappears and AC comes back on. Does it several times while driving. The suspension is horrible very bouncy (feel like you’re in a boat). Have taken it back to Autonation for the vibration and shifting problems. No results. They tell me they have had numerous complaints about same issues. Was told GM is aware of it and is redesining new motor mounts to aleviate the vibration. As for the other issues, who knows. This vehicle has been a total disappointment and dealer has not been of much help in resolving these problems.

First I want everyone to know I was a loyal GM truck person. This is the 6th new truck I have purchased since 1990. All GMC or Chevy. This 2015 Silverado has really bad vibration issues and Chevy does not seem to care and has not resolved the issue. It has been in the shop 5 times and all they want to do is balance the tires and replace wheels and tires. My 2007 Sierra with 145,000 miles has a better ride and no vibration on the same roads but the service people want to blame the road. I will be going through BBB lemon law paperwork this week. The latest loaner they gave me had 100 miles on it and it is a shaker also, lists of vibration. Warning everyone, be careful because GM won't work with you if you have one of these. At 9,000 miles transmission went out and was replaced by GM. Still did not fix the vibration issues at highway speeds. I was finally so frustrated, I sold the truck.

I started bringing my truck in for service on vibration/ shaking and Radio issues at 370 miles, I now have 12,442 and have just completed my 6th and Final Repair Attempt with little to no change. There are other issues with the Transmission, Engine and Active Fuel Management System, again none have been fixed. I will be filing lemon law this week. Did I mention that GM commits fraud with their tires? Check your window sticker, if you paid for "upgraded All Terrain Tires" you likely got Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's, which is a Highway All-Season Tire per multiple tire shops, and even the mechanics at the dealers I've gone to. I contacted GM by phone multiple times regarding this, and got the following response "That is the tire that comes on the vehicle, there is nothing we are going to do".

of 12 months of owning this vehicle it has spent more time in the shop than it has on the road, Chevrolet finally had the dealership change everything that touched the frame to keep this truck from vibrating, I have also had issues with it also sputtering when trying to take off or change lanes in traffic, this is going to get me killed. my wife also has a 2015 high country that has already had the transmission changed in it and it is back in the shop now for the 2nd week in a row and finally have found the issue but nothing has been said on what the fix is. 2 terrible piece of crap chevrolets

Nothing but problems! Tranny shifts terrible! Vibrates when you hit >60mph! 15,000 miles and the brakes feel like they may fall apart when you stop! Voltage gauge reads 15 one minute and 10 the next min! I suppose it's my turn to go to the dealer now and be told that there is nothing wrong again! P S it's already been there once! Thought it would be a safe vehicle for the kids?? Hope GM will step up and figure out what is going on!

The hubler dealership cheated me out of my trade in value this truck is horrible, Terrible gas mileage transmission shifts hard and badly it is very uncomfortable driving more than 10 , minutes!! very thin metal body panels even the smallest hail will dent the body panels and the tires look like they have 100,000 miles on them and they do not have 6800 miles yet!!!! This trucks engine has developed a loud annoying ticking noise that is very embarrasing and sounds like the engine has many more miles than what the odometer displays. The dealership will not do any thing !!! The dealership cheated me out of money for my trade in they lied and told me this truck has on screen maps and navigation it does not the dealership told me they would put new all terrain tires on this truck before I got it now they will not!!! This dealership told me this truck gets 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway it gets 14 mpg city and 18 mpg highway!!! the suspension is terrible I can feel every little bumpand the front end sounds like it has alot of wear it pops and !!! I got this truck brand new with 1 mile on it and this truck has less than 6600 miles on it now and this is the worse truck I have ever drove!!! The air conditioner does not work properly It takes a half hour to even get cool dealership says that is normal they said that about the transmission and the ticking noise and I have not even mentioned the radio sounds horrible!! I have owned chevrolets my entire life and this is the last one I will be a ford man from now on, CHEVROLET HEADQUARTERS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME TRYING TO GET THEM TO HELP A LOYAL CUSTOMER SO GOODBYE !!! ALL OF MY FRIENDS NEIGHBORS AND FAMILY AND CO WORKERS WILL NOT BE BUYING CHEVROLETS THEY DO NOT CARE !!! CHEVROLET FILED FOR BANKRUPTSY BECAUSE OF FUTURE AND PRESENT LAWSUITS AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BAIL THEM OUT. Just today I got a email telling me that the ignition was faulty and could switch back to accessories and cause the vehicle to lose power and the other recall is to let me know the air bag is faulty and may not deploy. That is a major concern if the ignition shuts off and the truck loses power and if I can not go or steer and there is a accident the air bags will not deploy what the hell kind of vehicle is this. I want to get away from this truck before I get killed. but no one at chevrolet will help I will never get another gm product. now I have to go to the dealership that ripped me off and lied to me to have the recall looked at they will probably tell me this ignition switch and air bag recall are normal. not happy at all

We beat the heat with a thorough test drive

I find thorough test drives under the conditions I plan on using a vehicle are important as part of an evaluation process. Looking at a vehicle and its controls/features is not as engaging or informative as actually driving it and checking the performance of its features. For a full size, crew cab pickup, I found the Silverado to be exceptionally quiet at 80 mph cruising(quieter than a Tundra, F150 or Ram), with comfortable, secure/stable handling. It also demonstrated good off pavement ability and had a well appointed cabin. I especially like the size and layout of the full center console on the model we ultimately purchased(Z71 LT w/5.3 not LTZ), as well as the Bose audio. My spouse and I took the Chevy for a thorough test drive on a hot day, used the AC(including the vents for the rear) and sat in all seating positions, including the back. Since our purchase, other rear seat passengers have found the AC in my 2015 Silverado Crew Cab creates a comfortable environment and the combination of the front/rear heat/AC vents work well to cool both front and rear seat occupants. Our friends also have a 2015 Silverado Crew and their two grandchildren enjoy the back seat with no complaints. Can you say AZ heat? Enough of our experiences, take a thorough test drive and discover for yourself.

A lot to like after driving for one year

I bought a 2015 Z71 LT crew cab short bed new and have enjoyed it. Interior is the best part of this truck. The cab is very quiet and comfortable. Crew cab has a lot of interior space and multiple USB and charging ports. Even with a short bed, this is a big truck with a 143 in. wheelbase, harder to park in urban areas. The biggest shortcomings to me are the electronics. You have to subscribe to On-star to be able to use the navigation. I just use my phone, but the blue tooth sync between my iphone and the vehicle is clumsy at best. It works, just takes some time. I have the 5.3l engine and six speed transmission. I have not had any shifting or hesitation issue with the vehicle, granted I haven't towed a lot. It does like to accelerate slowly in the 4cyl. mode but if you give it some gas it will still get down the road in a hurry. I have gotten 30 mpg over a 25 mile stretch, but that was on a dead flat country road with the cruise set on 45 mph. Most highway mileage is closer to 22 MPG. Like any truck, your fuel efficiency falls off a cliff if you go much over 60 mph. I have not had any reliability issues or problems after 18,000 miles and 1 year of ownership. There is a seat belt recall that needs to be fixed at the next service interval. Very happy with my purchase.

My Transmission failed after 75,000 miles. Took a month to get it fixed due to parts on back order. The communication between the dealer and Chevrolet was terrible. Chevrolet customer service was totally useless, worst I have ever experienced. I could sense the transmission was junk from the very beginning and I was right.

If you like spending good money for poor quality the new Chevy Silverado is for you. My 2016 (bought new) only has 12k miles and has been back to two different dealerships six times thus far for a terrible vibration issue. The whole truck shakes in the V4 mode with the AFM system and also shakes at highway speeds. The dealership had several GM bulletins to replaced a part in the fuel tank, replaced the entire exhaust system, placed a weighted hanger on the exhaust system, and said it may had been loose cab mounts. Nothing has fixed the issue. GM refuses to make this right and stated it's not a safety issue so there will be no recall. So if you think vibration in the pedals and seat and steering wheel is cool get this truck. I'm very disappointed in my decision to spend over 40k on a Chevy. What a mistake.

Bought the new 2015 Silverado 1500 dbl Cab 4x4 LT with the 3.42 rear end for towing a small utility trailer, 3000 lbs enclosed. The truck shutters between 3rd and 4th gear and seems to struggle on acceleration. TOLD BY THE GM SERVICE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP - "This is common and... are getting a lot of complaints... It is the new 6 speed transmission.... and there is nothing that can be done"! The truck is always looking to get the max fuel economy so it shifts to the highest gear as quickly as possible. The truck is constantly trying to get to 1300 RPMs, which has ZERO power/torque. This make the shift hard and drastic when trying accelerate. Fortunately it was bought at the end of the model year, so it was $10k off sticker, so I'll drive it for a couple years and then try to get rid of it for close to what I paid(?).

I trade in my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel for 2015 Chevy Silverado High Country. Awesome truck! It has all the technology, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G Lite, OnStar, USB, pretty much a PC with 4 wheels. It ride smooth on freeway that I forget that I driving a big truck. Its very spacing both front and back seat. Gas Mileage is reasonable I average mix driving 18 mpg with 420 miles fuel range! I love my truck it being attention on the road.

I had, and continue to have a vibration at speed. Been to dealer many times to repair, but have not eliminated vibration. Dealer has claimed to have done all they could to remedy. In researching this problem, it is apparent this is a well known issue which affects many 2014 and 2015 vehicles, especially ones equipped with 20" wheels.

PROS: I drive about 100 miles a day and the truck is super comfortable. I got the leather interior that's soft as a sows ear and all the options. I live 40 miles from town out in the middle of North Dakota in the sticks so in the winter it is imperative that I have a dependable truck that can handle un-plowed snow and ice roads, gravel, dirt, horrible weather and s worst conditions you can put a vehicle through. This winter the truck worked great and went through the first 12000 miles in 5 months of some of the most harsh driving conditions without an issue. The head lighting at night, shift on the fly and auto 4 wheel drive is great. Cargo lighting in the bed, loading with the side steps in the rear bumper, tie downs in the bed and tailgate that operates smoothly when its covered with a half inch of road grime and mud is also appreciated. Pay some extra for decent running boards/step bars and mud flaps when you get your truck and you will be glad you did. The truck starts right up in 28 below zero weather and brakes good to avoid those deer on the road at dawn and dusk, horn works too. Radio sounds great as does the Onstar phone when you don't have cell reception. I am glad I got a V8, plenty of power. Tilt up back seats make it easy to load a bunch of stuff in the cab too. I got the center console and can put hanging files in there. the windows and doors work good. I bought end of year and got a $53000 truck for $41000. Bessette Motors in Carrington ND are stellar! CONS: The few cons I have are not biggies for me but are annoying. The Onstar remote start works well except in the region where I live (Dakotas) it should allow for more than 10 minutes run time or allow re-start more than twice. The truck really needs to run a half hour to warm the cab so 15 or 20 minutes per start would be better. The Navigation is horrible and the mapping only shows the main roads, voice commands are not understood. Compared to my Dodge that shows everything on the map short of jeep trails and understands voice including just saying the town name and it will navigate to there, the onstar nav becomes laborious to the point of giving up and just getting out a map instead. In the city where Nav is more important I would rank this Nav system a zero, it sucks. Voice commands in general do not work well, especially for phone and contact list on the screen is difficult to even find. Aside from the audio entertainment/radio, this part of the system needs improvement. The transmission works well with one exception. I sometimes notice that it doesn't go into drive immediately then clunks in after a few seconds. Other than that I have to say the transmission and shift points are good for me and I haven't had the issues some other reviewers mentioned. Gas mileage is not going to be whats advertised. Get used to 16mpg max on a good day. OVERALL: I would recommend the Chevy truck, the Fords lately look like a fresh pile of manure and the new Dodges look too much like my old truck parked out back.

Overall not a bad truck. I've had two other Chevy pickups in the last 10 years (1994 C1500 and 2003 C2500HD), and this one is the newest I've had. This one drives like a truck, but rides like a car. The interior is decent in terms of material quality, but not terrific. The cloth seats are fairly comfortable, and the A/C works great. The dash board and instrument cluster is modern and easy to look at, and I do like the digital speedometer as opposed to the gauge, which was not a feature on the other Chevy trucks I drove. It doesn't seem like the USB ports have a very high amp output, because it never charges my phone. I just bought an Anker adapter instead, and it charges better that way. I've read other reviews online about excessive vibration at times, but have not experienced this myself. The truck isn't too high off the ground, and has a running board, so it's not difficult to get in or out. Although, the running board on this truck doesn't stick out very far, so it's easy to miss it or slip off it (which I've had happen a few times). In terms of performance, mine is equipped with the 5.3L V8 and 6-speed auto tranny. The 5.3L puts out a decent amount of grunt (more than it has in past years), but I think the new 6-speed transmission and active fuel managment system kind of inhibit the overall performace. Not only that, but I've noticed that the tranny system is overly eager to upshift when possible, even shifting two gears in a 2-3 second time frame occasionally (when on a flat road). I did have one instance where I was driving up a really steep hill, and the tranny decided to shift up prematurely, which caused a loss of momentum. Then it decided to go back down a few gears and the truck took off up the hill This can be a little annoying at times, and makes me concerned about the overall life span of the transmission. I haven't had any mechanical issues with the tranny so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if I started to down the road. It does help to put it in Tow/Haul mode, but I shouldn't have to do that under normal driving conditions. Aside from the tranny annoyance, the truck drives great and I don't have to hardly press the accelerator to get it up to speed. In terms of hauling, I've had it pretty close to max payload and didn't notice it. Not sure about towing yet. Gas mileage is about 16 mpg in the city (I live in a city with lots of hills) and combined is somewhere close to 20. 4x4 works great, even with tires that only have about a year left on them. Love the steps in the rear bumper corners for climbing into the bed. Overall a great truck so far, but it's young yet, so time will tell if there are any major issues.

I just bought a 4 dr. crew cap Silverado LT with the V8 and short bed and have a bad vibration in the cab. it's been into the dealer and they keep blowing smoke up my you know what. I'm going to bring it in one more time and the file the lemon law forms. first they replaced the torque converter. Then spent about 6 hr working to balance the front tire, Two different dealers tell me two different things. one tells me that its normal and the other tells me that it's a harmonic vibration from the frame and what do you expect from a truck. I have family with Silverado's that don't have this problem. So be careful when you do you test drive sales men can be really slick. it's the oldest con in the books. let you test drive the good ones and get you a better deal on one that has a few cosmetic defect.

Update 10/11/16 : Truck has over 27,000 hassle-free miles on it now. Been towing a 5,000 lb trailer up grades of up to 11%, according to the readout on the truck, with no problems at all. If I could purchase this again, I would. Had the truck since July 2015 and have put 18,000 miles on it over the past 9-10 months. I can't say enough about the truck. Interior is super quiet, even when towing an RV. I see others may have experienced transmission issues, I have not. The RV is about 4,000 lbs and has been towed for about 1,000 of the miles on it. Fuel mileage, on the highway, cruise set to 73mph, and soft tunneau cover on, is 24.8mpg over 400 miles. Around town, expect 18-19 as long as you're not a lead foot.

Let me first say this. I have owned many of GM, Ford, and Toyota trucks. I believe this 2015 Gm truck will be my last. I absolutely love the way this truck looks. When you climb inside, the interior is very good looking and comfortable. These are about the only pros to this truck. The cons: The transmission will go out, guaranteed. My replacement was $4300. It went out when the truck hit 116k miles. The truck has been babied. GM transmissions used to last till around 170k - 200k miles easily. Even after I had the transmission replaced, the truck lagged and shifted horribly. It just doesn't feel sturdy whatsoever, always hunting around for the right gear it seems like. It will lag and then all the sudden throw up 5k rpms and sound like the trucks going to blow up. The truck is just weak all around. Towing half of the rated capacity really puts a strain on the truck. The AC system will fail costing you another $700 - $1500 dollars. Common issue with these trucks. The factory headlights are awful. Not bright whatsoever, almost dangerous when it is dark and raining. The AFM is so annoying, it's unreal. Don't dare try to install a flow master on these trucks. They sound decent in V8 mode, but once V4 comes on, it sounds like a straight piped Honda Civic. I should not have to purchase an AFM delete kit. AFM just should not even exist. It's harmful to the engine and annoying. I put roughly $6,000 worth of repairs into this truck last year. I was hoping this truck would last me till around 200k miles, but I think it is time to part ways with it. I am currently at 150k miles. I wish that I would have purchased an F-150 with a 5.0 or a Tundra with a 5.7. Buy a Tundra or F-150. You will regret purchasing any 08 model and up GM 1500 truck. They aren't what they used to be. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 with an odometer that just hit 60k miles. I've had a starter motor fail at 50k miles which is super weird, but not terribly costly. This last weekend the transfer case blew up. I hit all the regular service intervals and this came without warning. Now, doing more research, I've learned this is a fairly common problem. With $3k (rebuilt) to $6k (new) to repair, I'm looking at a very costly problem. This vehicle has stranded me three times. Each time my wife has come to rescue me with our 16 year old Honda Element that has 197k miles on it.

I have owned this truck for a little over a year now. SO MANY PROBLEMS. The tailgate broke, the starter broke, sensors broke, some sort of lines that weren’t covered by the warranty and on top of all of that the truck turns off once in a while, while at a red light. I’ve brought the truck to be fixed many times and they say they don’t know what the issue is. Then the last straw today AGAIN I was getting on the highway and stepped on the gas pretty hard.. the truck jolted forward like it couldn’t catch a gear and almost caused a major accident. I’m so done with the issues on this truck. Can’t trade it in either because I don’t want to be upside down on the loan.

I have had this truck for about a year. It had about 75k miles when I bought it and I've added about 15k I did the transmission maintenance through Chevy and since then I have only had to do oil changes. Truck runs great and looks great. I don't get killer mileage but I also added a 6" lift and 35" tires. Looks great though. Love my truck! Highly recommend.

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've had my truck for a year and a half and drive it 40-50 miles a day and now have over 40k miles on it. Never had even a minor problem with it. I've hauled trailers loaded up 5,000 pounds, drove from central Texas to New York and Connecticut and back with the wife and kids. It purrs right along in comfort. Mine is an All Star edition with the towing package, LT rwd, 5.3 liter engine. I didn't see a trim listing for that so I said LTZ, which mine would be if it had leather seats I guess. I love the engine and the cylinder deactivation, I get up to 28 mpg on the highway which is very impressive to me, especially for a large truck. The infotainment system is great and easy to use, it actually understands the voice commands! The back-up camera is also one of the best I've seen on any vehicle. Maybe the six cylinder engine has problems? I dunno, I just know the one I have is a winner and the best truck I've ever owned.

New vehicles are a poor value!

Doesn't matter if you bought your truck 8 years or 8 weeks ago they are not dependable and terribly over priced for what you get! My end of the year update 2023 for the 2015 Silverado, 70K miles: Inspite of having been undecorated, fender liners and washed 3 to 5 times a month and waxed about every 90 days the wheel arches rusted through. I've replaced the passenger side of the bed at 5 years ($3,000 new bedside) and now the driverside fender arch is corroding though. What the dealer does not tell you is that every 90 days you should remove the tail lights and make a wand to put on the end of a garden hose and wash out the wheel arch areas! I have read a lot of complaints about the Silverado's shaking, vibration when operating the vehicle over 70 mph. I have to agree with those assertions. The back light of the information center went out and the dealer gave me an estimate cost $800, plus 3 hours labor to repair. However, an independent mechanic suggested I check the power connection behind the cabin air filter. That was the problem and the GM dealer ...hmm. Silverado's are a good looking truck but the cost of ownership is quite expensive!

Lots of noise coming from my leaf springs

Traveling under 10 mph that involves any flex in the suspension the truck makes awful clunking, squeaking, and popping noises. Apparently my local Chevrolet dealer says GM has no solution to the issue yet. My leaf springs have been replaced and lubricated and the noise came back after 3 months. Truck rides good at high speeds and I get great mpg on highway! Not a truck I'd ever buy again unless GM fixed this problem, sounds like my truck is falling apart!!! I received a great deal and now I know why...Pay for what you get. Never been a Ford guy but that will be my next truck!

The Nicest Vehicle I have Owned

I bought the High Country Trim Level so I could get the 6.2 with the 8 speed transmission for pulling my horse trailer. I love driving this truck! Lots of power and it handles great. I have owned Silverado's and Suburban's since the late 90's with the best trim levels and this is the nicest interior I have ever had. From the quality of the seats, roominess and features that it has, it is a real mobile office for me. I really like the sound system in this truck, it has so much depth you get great quality sound and any volume level. What I like best about this truck is the performance. The gas mileage is great even pulling my horse trailer. If there are any negatives they are in the electronics. The Navigation leaves a little bit to be desired and the Bluetooth can be clumsy at times. Overall, this is the best vehicle I have owned. I love driving it and would buy another one.

Great Work Truck

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck 2dr Regular Cab 4WD LB (4.3L 6cyl 6A)

Purchased this work truck primarily as a delivery vehicle and hauler. This truck rides ridiculously smooth for a work truck and handles well for what it is. Fuel economy in unreal at 20 mpg in 90% city driving and range is great as well. Extra features like usb port, tire pressure monitor, digital info display are very nice to have. My only gripe is that the drivers seat slide as far back as i'd like (being 6 ft tall), but thats to be expected in a single cab truck. The 4.3 is a great engine for this truck. 10,000 trouble free miles and counting.

Love this truck. For someone who is in business and works out of their vehicle most of the time, this is the perfect vehicle unless you can not drive larger vehicles. Drives wonderful and has lots of connections for my devices. However, the OnStar turn by turn is horrible. I wish I have gotten the upgraded I06 unit. When I went back to the dealership to get his installed they stated it would cost $1300 to make this happen. OUTRAGOUS. Keep in mind this is keeping the same head unit and just replacing a few things. $1300 though.. SMH. A new GPS system added would be cheaper (hang it on the windshield). Guess my phone will have to keep me going. On another note, the GPS for the I06 is not even google maps.. not even sure how you would update the maps for newer roads or roads that have been renamed. If all this isn't bad enough, if you want to keep the turn by turn from OnStar you have to pay a subscription.. REALLY? Monthly payments for the truck loan isn't enough. GM and our wonderful gov't will nickel and dime us forever. The satellite radio is awesome and you can find your music or news stations with ease.. but yet again you have another OUTRAGOUS payment.. I understand your paying for convenience with the radio but the GPS nav (I06) should be a cheaper install --- a little more detail -- turn by turn is exactly that, all you get is an arrow on your screen on your next turn, there is no map. Yet, with the I06 you can get 3D or 2D maps with streets and entering addresses, etc (like a regular GPS) BUT... there is NO monthly OnStar payment for this very SMALL upgrade. YouTube what parts it takes for the upgrade.. its not much. The installation I can see may be a little difficult but I could do it. That being said, according to Chevrolet Customer Engagement Center - this MUST be installed by the dealership to keep your warranty. Mmm.. how convenient... still stuck with a $1300 charge if I want the upgrade. Anywho... besides that.. Hell Yeah, this truck rocks.. Very quiet interior - plush and comfortable - rides like a Cadillac. I pulled my 22ft TT* Camper with ease and I don't have the optional trailer brake ( I will be adding this though because I like to have my TT* help out some) - braking was not a problem though - Just rather have and not need it kind of thing. :) My kids who is a 4 yr old and an 18 mo old are very comfortable and sleep all the time in it (no videos necessary). I added a 2" front lift to the front, tonneau cover and tinted the windows (which I was told the regular tint does not hold back UV rays). Gas mileage varies according to your foot pressure on the gas pedal - in the city I would get between 14 and 16.5 mpg (side note - 8 MPG when towing TT*) . I was also told from a GM mechanic you don't want to leave your 4x4 function in auto all the time - not good for it - so don't do it.. If you read all of this so far, I hope you got something out of this and it helps you decided on your next ride or options. Later Y'all

Horrible seating and terrible headrest

Purchased as a work truck but didn't expect driver seat to be a torture device. Headrest is so far forward you can't look straight ahead. Had to turn headrests around so I could drive truck. Seat digs into shoulder blades so bad you can only drive 30 minutes without a break. Seat is very stiff and uncomfortable. Seat has very little lumbar support. Tried to add a seat cushion but still doesn't help. Except to the seating, truck is very good. Dealer was less than sympathetic and said it was just the way it is designed. After driving trucks for over 45 years, this is by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever has the misfortune to sit in.

Last Chevrolet Ever - UPDATE

It has been 13 months since I bought the Chevrolet and I am exceedingly pleased to say that I finally got rid of it and replaced it with a Ford F150 that is amazingly superior in almost every category. The performance of the Chevrolet never improved and Chevrolet never came out with a fix for the problem that I, and hundreds of others, believe is the root of the poor performance of the Silverado. What is most interesting is that, as I shopped the vehicle around, the Chevrolet dealers offered me the worst trade-in value for this vehicle. I guess they knew something that I did not when I bought it! By the way I took a significant beating on the trade-in value but it was worth it to me to get rid of this vehicle. You will never see another General Motors product parked in my driveway !!! Due to a crash that left me a vehicle short, I jumped impulsively at the first and best deal I could find on a truck at the time and ended up with a new but year-old model Silverado 1500. After only 500 miles, I took it back to the dealer and filed a complaint with GM because of the poor performance - hesitation, shuddering, low power during turns and climbing small hills, a feeling of constant transmission shifting dozens of times a minute, especially at speeds under 40 mph. At highway speeds using cruise control, I could watch the RPM needle bounce up and down at 200-400 intervals. I offered to trade it back to the dealer and purchase a higher priced 2500 with a different engine and transmission and even asked GM for trade assistance. I tried to trade it on much higher priced trucks at other dealers and could not get more than 50% of the original sticker price with fewer than 1,000 miles and less than two months old. Short answer after 4 months of phone calls - dealer didn't want it back and GM said this type of performance for their trucks was normal. I am told by others who claim to know that the issue is the Active Fuel Management system that GM uses in trucks with the 5.3L engine and 6 speed transmission. Internet reviews confirm others have experienced similar issues. Between the poor performance, poor dealer support and non-existent GM support, this will be my Last Chevrolet Ever!

2017 I have traded my Chevy for a Ram I find the Ram has higher quality interior the ride is much smoother the truck is much bigger and most of all it's not in the shop every week. The last straw for my Chevy was when the four wheel drive went out in my vehicle and it would not go frontwards or backwards no more Chevy in my life . 2016 love the look of the truck, the love stops there, I have always been a Chevy girl, not feeling the love for the 2015 Chevy High Country, it's in the shop more then not. First a new rear end to stop the vibration, then the stalling out feeling on corners they can't fix. The windows wont go down if its damp or in the morning they cant fix this ether. The transmission shifts like your getting hit from behind, they can't fix this. Last but not least the navigation cant understand the spoken word. Never thought I would say this but I'm looking to Ford to replace this truck . Chevy please get it together.

The climate control in the vehicle is just fine...no worries. It's a Chevy truck, so in every way a Chevy truck is capable, this vehicle is perfectly fine. Towing, Hauling...I haven't really off-roaded, but I'm sure that's there However, the thing is an ergonomic dumpster fire. The steering wheel is 2.5" off to the right of the center of the driver, and to add insult to injury, they put the instrument cluster even further to the right, so if you draw a line from between your eyes through the center of everything, you're looking at a spot some 20' in front of the truck, in the right hand ditch. The Center/Radio cluster is pointed straight back, so I (at 5'9") need to lean forward and reach to hit the other side of the radio, which I also need to calculate angles to make sure I hit the right button, since I'm viewing it at an awkward angle. Everything is out of reach of the driver, except the lights and 4wd control. Seriously, if you need a truck to haul stuff, this baby will hook you up. If you actually want to drive it, buy a Dodge.
