Used 1999 Chevrolet Malibu Consumer Reviews
Might be another Malibu Lemon
Bought this chevy for my daughter, and after one week, she became stranded, when it wouldn't start. Upon a mechanic checking it out from place of purchase, said it could be the 'pass key'. Wished I had read reviews before our purchase. Now, we're going to hurry and pay it off, and find another. Money is tight these days, and who wants to buy a car,and then have to worry if you've got a lemon or not? There are few reviews in here that list zero problems with these malibu's. I just don't trust this car with my little grandkids!!!!
Malibu a Reliable Car
Our Malibu has been extremely reliable. No mechanical defects. One minor interior trim issue fixed under warranty. Truly a great mid-size car at a great price. We have the 2.4 liter 4 cyl. Not as responsive as the 6cyl but, a little better mileage and the deal we got was great.
why me!!
brakes+ rotors that fail after 40000,turn signals that failed mysteriously but only worked at the dealership coolant that goes down continually but never leaks(head gasket gm?)alternator failed after 2 YEARS?!! (come on!!)rattles from who knows where or why and the ac(check the switch, its defective!!!)why such a vehicle is foisted on people who shell out hard earned money is beyond me...imports are looking better and better every day...a horse and buggy are more reliable
Good Car
No hassle - minor issues but a good car to have
Malibu pure out sucks
Bought it at 0 miles. 47k now. CV boots replaced twice. Frontend retorqued. Still rattles. Alternator went out w/o warning. Replaced brakes & rotors -14k. Center front arm rest broke. A/C goes on and off by it self. Engine light came on. Was O2 sensor. Engine light came on again and started skipping but only when you first crank it. Random misfire. Replaced plugs, plug wires, 3 coils, and coolant sensor. 3 mechanics (including Chevy dealer) checked it for blown head gasket, cracked head and everything and found nothing. They can't figure it out.
