I was looking to replace my Mazda6 with something more grown-up, safer, quieter, roomier, that had some heft to the controls. I like the more solid feeling structure the Impala provides compared to my Mazda and most Japanese cars, I don't need nor want feather weight doors that close at the slightest blowing of the wind or overbearing road noise, you the kind you only learn about from taking a roadtrip.

Soon after I bought it the power steering starting leaking and breaking hoses. Rear door wont open. Cant shift out of drive. Key gets stuck in the ignition. Front end feels like its coming apart. Should have been covered under cash for clunkers but presumably it is worth too much.

Quiet ride no wind noise, quieter than the Buick Lucerne I tried. The Impala on cruise control set at 70 mph averaged 26.2 mpg. Around town 18 mpg. Better mileage than expected.

Love this car as I did my 1969 Impala

After reading reviews on this car, I decided to purchase a used Impala LT with a 3.9L engine in March, 2007. This Impala is everything I want in a larger car. On a 200 mile round trip to upstate New Jersey I got 30.6 mile per gallon. Combined city and trip driving I get 26 miles per gallon. City only driving I get about 24 MPG. Of course when I run the air conditioner the MPG is lower, but not significantly. My wife's Honda Accord gets about the same MPG, and it is a four cylinder. When driving long distances, comfort is important to me because I have a bad back. The Impala is the most comfortable car I have ever driven, and my back never bothers me after driving this car.

I just bought this 2006 Impala LT 3.9L V6 all is great but the engine idles rough and when you are in drive it sound and feels like the motor is under heavy load or that the RPM'S are to low but overall I like the car and it's fun to drive.
