Worth it still after all these years

We bought a 2006 blue impala ss back in 09 and it’s still my daily driver, 245,000 miles. The only setback was having to replace the engine @200k as well as rebuild the transmission because the one they put inside it exploded from the power of the v8. I recommended this car for someone who wants cheap power, but also gas efficiency. ( when the damn thing decides to go to 4cyl mode)

280K and still rolling... with significant repairs

Update 4/5/2021 (280K Miles): The transmission has not failed, but both cam position sensors did, and my local shop mis-diagnosed it as a transmission failure. Thankfully the transmission shop was honest, they sent me on my way with no charge and a recommendation for a better mechanic. No major repairs since the cam sensors. There is a steady oil leak (about 1 quart / 1000 miles), and the AC mixer door actuator has failed (a repeated offense, I've replaced each of the 3 AC actuators at least once now) resulting in a steady "tock-tock-tock" noise whenever I switch from hot to cold air. The driver's seat has jammed (2nd time in 3 years) and is unable to be adjusted forward and back for different drivers. So, the car has developed a few nuisance items, but these are not unexpected in a car of this age, I think. I bought my 2006 LT Impala used with 35,000 miles in 2007. Since then it's been a workhorse, safely carrying me up and down the east coast. Currently the odometer reads 253,000 miles. I do have two maintenance related complaints about the car though. The most persistent issue I've encountered are the brakes, which consistently shudder when applied. This happens regardless of the age of the brakes or force applied. The other issue I've had is transmissions. The first transmission went out at 121,000 miles. I had it rebuilt, and it went out again at 180,000 miles. I replaced it with a remanufactured transmission from jasper, and haven't had any issues since. It's worth noting though that I've only put 70,000 miles on this latest transmission, so it may fail too. Time will tell. All in all, it's been a great car and I believe it will keep it running for at least another 100,000 miles, as long as I keep feeding it transmissions.

I purchased my '06 Impala last month after a week I noticed a leak under engine. I sent it back to auto dealer I bought the car, they replaced the oil gasket. The leak disappeared, cold days just around the corner I switched heater dial and a loud ticking noice annoys me which last for a minute or so. Besides any reviews I read here no problem with tranny or engine KNOCK ON WOOD! But, I love it for now... we'll see.

SS super sport Chevy

I have to say that this is my favorite car I have ever owned. I have owned BMW 330, Cadillac STS v8 northstar, Mopar 5.7 hemi, Benz e320 and I love the way this car performs and drives. It is the best V8 I have ever driven. All I can say is I love Chevy and the next car I am buying will be a Chevy Corvette I want more power and performance now. This car is great and I bought it used with all service records and it's nice. It such a value.

140k miles and it never let me down.

I bought new and have 140k miles so far. I have detected a little slippage in the tranny recently. Other than that, never a problem, just basic maintenance. Fast, comfortable, sedan. Torque steer is evident and annoying at first. Once you get used to it you know how manage it.
