2019 Chevrolet Equinox Premier 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)

I compared this SUV to the Cadillac XT4 and GMC Terrain Denali...I have a 2017 Terrain Denali FWD but I use to have a 2016 AWD and liked it so we got the 2019 Equinox Premier AWD as even in the rain AWD is better even living in the south as it hardly snows here the $1500 extra is worth it and in the chevy you can SWITCH it off to just FWD. The one negative comment I have is the TIRE noise we have the 19 inch japan brand tires and they have road noise. My terrain has 18 inch Michelin they are much better. We got this suv for my wife to drive around town. Price wise this dealer has all GM makes and the Chevy Equinox Premier comparing them the Cady was $7,000 higher and the GMC Terrain was about $1500 ALL had the exact same OPTIONS when we priced them out but the Chevy had $2000 more in rebates also at that time..You get a lot more for the bucks if you get the Premier with the 2.0 Turbo AWD combination. I was afraid of a 4 cyl as I always had 6 or 8 cyl but this 2.0L Turbo with 255 HP will really go and I use the Regular gas even though they "recommend " premium just to get Govt Fuel rates is why as you will get slightly less MPG with the reg but you save the 60 cent per gallon price difference The Msrp Price was $42,650 this suv was really LOADED but after Rebates at that time paid $37600 plus T,T,&T.

I'm Sold

I've spent months test driving vehicles, researching, and it looks like the 2019 Equinox is going to be the one. First off, I'm coming from a F-150 with a big V8, so I know what adequate power feels like. The 1.5L is perfectly adequate for accelerating; it was tested in highway merging and residential traffic conditions. Out of all the SUV's I tested it was the only one that felt like it responded as needed. The quiet engine and transmission shifting is simply the smoothest in this class. The back seats are super comfy even in the lowest trims. The only negatives for me: 1)the back cargo space is smaller than others. However, it does have a neat hidden cargo space above the spare. 2)I don't desire adaptive cruise control myself but I do believe lane assist and blind spot warning should come standard on all cars at this point without an upcharge. Technology features are superb, clear info screen and enough USB ports. I think if you cross shop and test all the SUV's in this class, you'll see what a wonderful vehicle the Equinox is.

Nothing has changed about my review below, from 3 years ago. DO NOT listen to the negative comments from the critics in car magazines and online about this Equinox. The 1.5 - 4 cylinder turbo engine is GREAT. I wanted this engine and did not want the 2.0. I was looking for an SUV that rides well and is fuel efficient. I am very happy. I am getting a lot better mileage than my last SUV. My Equinox rides very well, the seats are very comfortable, and there's plenty of room inside. I do not need the navigation system. I am using the Android Auto app on my cell and I use Waze on the screen. My 2 complaints are that I wish the warranty lasted longer than 3 years/36,000 miles & I wish they had an auto dimming rear view mirror. The flip up mirror stinks.

Great Smaller SUV

I have been a pickup owner for 25 years, so I was a little reluctant to buy an SUV. I bought my Equinox in Jan 2019 and couldn’t be more impressed with it. I test drove the 1.5 liter engine which felt very sluggish and underpowered. I ended up with the 2.0 liter turbo which is fantastic. Great gas mileage and more than enough power. Living in Omaha, Nebraska I chose the all wheel drive and it performs great in the snow. March 2019 I was able to drive through 18 inches of unplowed snow with no problem. The AWD can be turned off when not needed and it gives you about 1 more mpg. I’ve heard a lot about the start stop engine and have not had a problem with it. Many people want to have an on/off switch but I have gotten use to it. My main concern is how long will the starter last with the extra cycles put on it. All in all I really enjoy this SUV. I recommend it. My Equinox is an LT Cloth AWD with the 2.0 liter turbo.

Drove 2 imports for 15 years and since I own a classic 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and a 2001 Tahoe I decided to give Chevy another try. I test drove 8 four seaters and a couple 6 seaters and settled on the Equinox. I got the smaller engine on a LT model because it would takes weeks to get a 2.0 in an LT. The Premier is very nice but kind of expensive for all of the gadgets. The 1.5 Turbo has good to excellent exceleration and I am use to my Tahoe that has a V8. The two imports we had were dogs on exceleration, both did 80 mph very well but getting there was a chore. The Equinox rides well and has comfortable seats but I will agree there is a lot of plastic in the interior. Electronics works well and the engine on/off is very efficient but there should be a turn off switch too. After a month an half with the new Equinox we are very pleased and would highly recommend one to all drivers.

For features and ride, well worth the price

In 2017 I leased an Equinox Premier. The car was fine, but the 2.0 liter engine was a bit sluggish. So when the lease ended, I opted for the 2019 Equinox Premier, with the 2.0 liter turbo, engine. There are no more pickup problems. The car accelerates well, better than most comparable vehicles. The ride is smooth and quiet. Gas mileage is a touch better than the 2017. Best of all, the car is fun to drive. In front wheel drive mode it corners and maneuvers well, and with the push of a button, you have the increased traction and control of all wheel drive. The convenience and driver safety features are first-rate, the nine speaker Bose sound system is phenomenal, and I get a particular kick out of the wireless smartphone charging pad. It's true that the Premier model is a little pricy, but the features are well worth the price. It's all but certain that I will buy the car when the lease ends.

The Equinox is a family favorite. My son and daughter both have 2018’s, my sister has a 2017 and I just traded in my 2012 for a 2019. It is very stylish, user friendly and extremely comfortable. Lots of leg room front and back. My 2012 was a workhorse and I NEVER had a bit of trouble or any glitches. Great value. I am an Equinox lifer!

I purchased the 170-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder which has to my surprise plenty of power for my needs. Extremely happy about this upgrade. I traded in my purchased GMC 2016 Terrain which was not turbo and didn't have this added power. I also find visibility and front-seat comfort to be a plus considering my size . I'm 6 ft 2. Plenty of interior room. I dont feel cramped. Gas mileage was another pleasant surprise big improvement over my last SUV where much of my driving is done locally. Handles very smooth on the road. Quiet interior ride. So far the short period time I have owned this I have been impressed. The one thing as a negative would be my Terrain had a much more elegant higher end looking interior. (they are cousins) . However I knew this going into the purchase. Was going to have to give up something to stay in a price range and size. I also got a smoother quieter ride with a stronger engine as well. Longer I own it, the more I drive it, the more I am impressed!

My wife loved this car the moment she drove it. The Turbo 2.0 is peppy!!! She is 5'2" and the multi-adjustable seat fits her short legs perfectly. I found it very peppy too- a pleasure to drive compared to the 1.5 liter engine. I'm 5'9 and the seat fit me well. I loved the safety package with cross path detection a blind spot monitoring and 8 inch color HD backup camera. Separate climate settings are great as my wife is always hot. I love the extra large sun-roof too that brings in the sun all the way to the back. The tech works flawlessly and connects with our iPhones. We bought the 2019 over the 2018 because of the extra NHSB star on side impact crashes. We are driving our infant grand daughter around and this 2019 vehicle gets 5 stars on all crash tests unlike the 2018. We have had our beautiful red Equinox a year now and are very happy with our purchase.

Faster than a Speeding Bullet- Equinox Redline Ed

The 2.0 Turbo @ 252hp is exceptional. Very responsive, handling is superb. The Redline suspension is a little on the taunt side, but is great on smooth pavement. Handling/Steering is responsive without understeer or oversteer. Easy access for any 6ft person. Spacious entry and sized rear seats. Backup camera is a must. Visibility is good all around. Cloth heated seats are a real plus. Lots of goodies for a car at this price. The one touch opening for the rear cargo area is handy. The touch screen is large and very easy to use. Never been a Chevy fan, but this car could win me over with time.
