The 4 cylinder engine is a joke. In cold weather the equinox is known to put pressure inside the engine and blow the rear main cell in engine. Also at around 100000 miles you better plan on replacing the timing which goes out. This has happened to me and my sister equinox. My mechanics says this is the worse suv ever

This is a fine car. Nothing splashy, but useful.
I see little to criticize about the Equinox. The 4-cyl concerned me until I drove it. It’s more than adequate for me, and I suspect for the average driver. It’s quite useful for those everyday tasks, can haul a lot of stuff. The vehicle sits high, making entry/exit easy. The seats could use a bit more padding but they are ok.

EXCELLENT 4CYL SUV
Purchased a 2016 Chev. Equinox LT AWD new in February 2016 and have not had one problem . Equinox is a comfortable good mileage suv that has not given us an ounce of problems . The 2.4 four cylinder is a gem, good mpg, and with the AWD is a good winter vehicle. Equinox has 42,000 miles and have replaced tires and front and rear brakes, thats it . I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and keep the car up to date. A very happy camper .
