I haven't had any huge major probs happen, other than the 2 recalls fuel pump and power steering pumps, which Chevy fixed. I have had lots of electrical probs, the wire burnt up on the blower motor, I fixed that and now my ac/heater is stuck in defrost, it will go hot and cold and you hear the compressor kicking on and off, but its stuck in defrost. Its always small things, but Im done. I only owe $600 on the damn thing and a trade in is in the near future. I loved my cavalier, never had a prob that's why I traded it in for a cobalt and probs since day 1

Before I got this car I had a 2000 Chevy Prism that was amazing. So to compare the two has its ups and downs. The Prism got way better gas mileage. With the Cobalt it probably get about 25-29 MPG where before I was getting at least 35MPG. Its really stylish and I love the MP3 jack. Getting on the highway is great because it doesn't take long to get up to speed. I didn't get power locks or window and that's the biggest regret. It stinks to have to reach over and unlock doors and manually roll down windows. Wish the radio would crank up a little louder also. I love the digital display for the information center. However I wish OnStar and ABS was a standard. Overall pretty good and fun to drive!!

about to blow motor #2

This car has been a royal pain for the last 5 years. I purchased it used in 2011. At my 1st inspection I was told that I needed new shocks and struts, 2 years later they needed to be replaced again. Next was the intermittent electrical issues: speakers work some of the time (thankfully at least 1 is always working) hit a pot-hole and all of a sudden there's surround sound! rear windows - one side never worked (except that one time my nephew puts it down and says "you liar! you just didn't want me to play with it" other side recently stopped working most of the time, headlights tail-lights and turn-signals oh my! once was pulled over for a headlight out and it came back on during the stop... And the kicker - the motor blew at 120,000 mi they said it was the timing chain and tried repairing it but were unsuccessful. I had the motor replaced adding $3,500 and another year to my loan. Three years later when it was finally paid off I was excited to drive it without a payment and save up for my next money pit but, no. The replacement motor has reached 120,000 mi and is showing signs that the timing chain is going bad - repairs start at $1700 and potentially "snowball" from there. No Thanks!

Complete engine failure at 55,000 miles

Second Chevy I've owned that died a very early death. Barely out from under warranty, well-maintained and not driven a ton, and the engine began knocking, screeching and cutting out spontaneously. Took it to a mechanic who informed me it would cost more to repair than the car is worth due to dodgy manufacturing.

When I first got this car I loved it, super cheap on gas, smooth ride... but slowly problems become nothing but common. When I fuel up I have to push my gas pedal as I start my car, even though it is a fuel injected car... Just recently when I started my car out of nowhere it was idling as if it was a diesel engine vehicle and it definitively is not a diesel engine. As well as it has barely any power and has trouble getting up to speed. Most people have told me it could be lifters, transmission, or timing belt. My car does have a lot of mileage and I know with a lot of mileage comes issues but these issues are all to common with other Cobalts. If anyone has a solution it would be appreciated
