Improved Quality
The Cobalt SS 2.0 is fun to drive and a big step forward for Chevrolet in it's competition against the imports of the same class. The Cobalt SS 2.0 handles nice, stops well rain or shine, and accelerates with the power of a V6.
Streetable Track Car
One of the best cars I've owned. I use it as my daily driver and weekend racer. I get 30 mpg on the freeway and 25 in town. I avg. about 27 mpg combined. Stock it has great power, track ready suspension, nice clean shifting gear box, good stereo- almost good enough to blow out the windows, comfy Recaro race buckets. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty but gas friendly car or for road racing/ autocross. I also recommend upgrading it to the GMPP stage 2 kit for increased power.
Great car for the dollar
What a surprise to pull into a gas station and fill up this vehicle! 38.4 miles to the gallon out on the highway. Wait until this car is broken in. I just saved 45 dollars a week in gas money. That's awesome. Keep it up Chevy
Terrible Car
I bought this as my first car. I bought it as it was a new car in the price range of the used cars I was looking at. I mainly bought it for the warranty because any car I have been in it has always had many problems that the dealer needed to fix. This car was no exception!! I have been to the daelership at least one time a month to get something fixed on it, and it is always some stupid thing that needs to be fixed. Every time I have gone in their, they have given me a hard time about fixing the thing! I am very disappointed with GM for producing a car with this pad of build quality the electric power steering is also horrible, GM could you be cheap again and give us a normal hydraulic steering
Avoid at all costs
I've been in the dealership for constant warranty work on this thing. I've got the 2.2 and the terrible Getrag manual transmission. Let's start with the tires. Continentals are junk, if there is moisture on the road, traction has become a thing of the past. Brakes have ceramic pads but terrible rotors. You'll find that they warp rather quick! Engine leaks like a sieve, and I'm only at 12k miles. Needs new head, valve cover gasket and if the main seals leak, those too. Transmission requires you to sit 10-15 seconds at a stop to shift into reverse. Tranny is incredibly weak, it's built to withstand the engine. Anything added for performance is questionable to the tranny. Please note that this is a SAAB designed engine, and an OPEL designed car, its not truly a GM vehicle, and it's starting to show, a GM vehicle wouldn't be this terrible.
