Like a rock
OK this 1993 k1500 4x4 v8 , was my dads, Blue 115,000 miles, he bought this truck brand new in 1993 took it for a test drive, and immediately signed drove it off the lot for 22k with only 16 miles on the speedometer, now 16 years later a couple of which not driven, it has a 115,000 miles, and the only thing replaced was the ignition and fluids, etc. and an aftermarket radio system, (the stock am/fm cassette player replaced because it quit working, power windows, power locks, 10 mpg is cruel in this economy and soon will need to repaint, now i want you to find me a ford f150, of same year same circumstances, and tell me that Chevrolet is not the longest lasting most dependable trucks on the planet
The Best truck on the Road
This was my first truck at age 16 I'm 23 now. Its got 290,000 miles on it all original. It still runs like it did when my dad owned it and i have abused this truck still it never lets me down. I give it an oil change every 3000 miles and thats all i spend on it. Never had a major problem with it. I guess im lucky. I'm stationed in Kansas and have driven it back and forth to Idaho at least 4 or 5 times now 1400 miles one way

W/T 1500 4.3 V-6 auto
This is my first ever pickup truck. I have been a Chevy fan for years (own 3 other Chevy Cars now too) this is not a truck for hauling heavy loads (V-6) but for daily usage and light hauling, it's hard to beat. I now have 142000 miles on this truck and it still runs great. I have redone the A/C as I live in south Florida and it is a must have. Other than that just basic maint. Getting about 17 MPG but gets down into the 10-12 range if you tow anything. Easy to work on and get parts for, plenty of room to swing a wrench too. If the V-6 dies, I am tossing in a 350 crate motor, but no sign of weakness from the 4.3 so far.
Chevy-Like a rock
Third owner (bought at 72k). Always been reliable. 145k, replaced most of the basics, alternator, fuel pump starter, water pump. Clutch made it to 109k, even with towing and hauling. ECU has failed twice, Im told that's to be expected with this model. For a half ton, there is not one on the market today that can haul like this. I'm sad the NE rust is finally setting in, because this truck has been solid since day one. Easy to work on, V6 is very small under the hood, five speed is adequate, but ratios are spread pretty far apart from 2-3. Looking forward to another 100k.
Best Truck on the Road
I bought this truck brand new, and I could not be happier. It is still my everyday car, even though I have newer vehicles. It is very easy to repair when it needs it, which is not often. I wouldn't trade it for the world! I could not have been happier with the performance in this truck. I am very lucky to have spent my driving years thus far in this vehicle, and I plan to teach my son to drive in it one day.
Good truck
Fun truck to drive took me awhile to find a 5spd but was glad when I found a 5 speed Chevy. Good truck got some pick-up and go to it. Not horrible on gas(16mpg) for the power it's got.
Truck has nickel and dimed me far too long
Purchased this truck with 103xxx miles miles in Nov 2011 for $1600, it now has 124xxx. It ran great except for the tranny, it would jerk forward when shifting from 1st to 2nd and shift late from 2nd to 3rd. However, I bought it knowing full well of the tranny problems, wasnt that bad. The truck ran excellent for the first 4k-5k miles, then it left me stranded due to a bad ignition coil. 2k miles later truck wouldnt start due to a bad fuel pump. But its to be expected from a 20+ year old vehicle. Very weak rear suspension. Ive had to change all of the following parts:
High school truck
This truck is a rare find. 1993 Chevy regular Cab, 5.7 V8, longbox, and a five speed. I regularly tow 2 to 4 4-wheelers without a problem. While unloaded I regularly get 18 miles to the gallon, and while towing I get 15. Not bad for a full size with 120,000 on it. It is also very comfortable with aftermarket conversion van style seats.
Satisfied Owner
Quality vehicle throughout. I purchased used from Al Serra Chevrolet in Michigan. Vehicle has not needed much - just regular maintence (tires, exhaust, brakes, etc.) At best, I probably have spent 1500 in 4 years of regular maintenance. I receive many compliments on the truck because of its cleanliness at 11 years old or its color (bright teal metallic).
Dependable worktruck
It's been a very dependable truck for the intitial cost up to about 68 thousand miles. I changed the original universals for the first time at apprx. 68,000 miles. Around 70k though, I needed a serpentine belt and the altenator bearing was squeeling and radiator cap was leaking. Around 68k I had to changed the cap and rotor. It does smoked on start-up and I believe this is Chevy's use of a rubber valve grommet that tends to loosen and stay up on the stems, allowing oil to creep down the stem. It clears up quicky and isn't that smoky. Economy? A whole new exaust, reg. oil changes, air filter and driving in 5th has me in the high 17's. The electrical 4wd needs patient's. In-all? a good truck.
"Like A Rock"
Third owner, (bought at 145K) for only $1,200 bucks, book value at time of purchase was $6K. Best truck to ever leave the assembly line. Has the 5.7L TBI 350 and 4L60E O/D Trans. Has Advantage Enterprise Conversion on it including wood (real oak) trim around doors and instrument panel, has mood lighting up top, Goshen leather seats, Z71 Pkg I would not get rid of this truck for anything. Have put around $1,500 into it but it was all normal Wear'N'Tear items that give after age and mileage. I'm still $3,300 under what it was worth. I've put on an Airaid TBI spacer and a Hypertech Street Runner chip for a little more grunt. Will definately put in a GM Goodwrench Crate Motor when the time comes
1993 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Series
The 4.3L V6 is more than adequate for what the a fullsize truck needs to be able to do. What uneducated consumers need to realize is that the 4.3L is identical to a 350ci V8 but with 2 less cylinders. In other words, the bore, stroke, and compression are the same. The the V6 has about 20 less horse power than the V8 but it gets twice the gas mileage. The 4.3L V6 is litterally the most efficient motor of its time in all aspects. Combined with a the manual transmission I'm sure you will be satisfied with its performance.
Great Truck
I'm 17 years old, and I just inherited my Dad's truck. It has 133,000 miles on it, and I gotta be honest, it's awesome. The truck is so sturdy, and I've gotten 1,600 pound loads on it before no problem. The engine is powerful and gets up hills easily with a full bed. Get this truck if you can! Its super reliable, and we've had only minor problems with it. I use it for scrapping metal at junkyards, hauling household appliances, and logs for firewood. Again, it has never let me down.
332000 and she's dying
I bought this truck for 1000 bucks, its been worth every penny. This truck is very easy and comfortable to drive. The engine has always had a squeaky noise (I think from the valves). Despite the wimpy 4.3 engine that does not accelorate well, it just keeps going and going like the energizer bunny. OK so the trans is failing and I"ll probably rebuild it. For some reason my truck has very little rust, all in the typical areas about as big as dimes but only surface rust. I have the button radio and heating style, the volume button is very jumpy.
truck needs a 350
if the truck has a 4.3 litre it is good for an old person who is not in a hurry and doesnt haul heavy things a full size pick up needs an 8 cylinder
4wdblazer
Best Blazer I have had, which is 3. Reliable and easy to work on.
Best Truck on the road!
I'm the 2nd owner of this truck. It has been extremely dependable and reliable. I have 102000 miles and just recently had to replace the shocks. Brakes last a long time. I also get 20 mpg on the highway almost regardless of speed. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I had to replace the battery right after I bought the truck. Low maintenance. Recntly had tranny fluid & filter changed and The truck feels and drives like when I bought it 3 years ago.
Chevy rules
chevy has been my favorite vechile. chevy has the engine power like no other. once a chevy guy always a chevy guy.
Awesome Truck
Unbelievable reliable truck. Smooth and powerful 350 engine. TBI induction very reliable. Smooth shifting transmission. I have over 247,000 miles on this truck and feel confident to drive it crosscountry tommorrow. Absolutely phenomenal truck.
Like a rock.
I am the third owner of this vehicle and its still running stong. Since I have aquired it it has needed few repairs other than the standard service; mild tune up, cooling system flush and other routine maintenance. Overall this is a great work truck except for the lack of power.
