Fun to drive
I just bought a 93 van. Its my first Van and first GM product. It has 198K and still runs good. Smokes a little on start up but that's expected for its age and mileage. A/C had some minor issues with leaks that I fixed. 4.3L surprisingly has enough power. Gas mileage has been fairly good also considering its age and size of the vehicle. Very fun to drive. We are planning several road trips now and will be using this van to site see the states.
Love to play
Love to play at fishing, camping, travel and my g20 has turned out to be the best way to go. Gets around easy and cheaper than a large motor home or travel trailer. Some say it's roughing it but at 72 I disagree. I'll keep my van till my number comes up and enjoy every mile, every minute.

20yo Chevy G20 in Kuwait - awesome.
As a family living in Kuwait - yeeeup, thaaat Kuwait - we find our Chevy G20s super reliable and very easy to run. Space, simplicity, and durability are out of this world. In a country where oil literally oozes out of the dirt, fuel economy is not exactly top of mind....ever. But it would have been great to have more efficient (and maybe quieter) AC system. Here's the real good news - we have two of these vans, one a short wheel base and the one rated here is a standard hightop V8. Buying this as a trusty second or third vehicle is a no-brainer. Best, Mike
Better than expected
Bought used April 2004 with 94,500 miles. Van now (July 2006) 125,000 miles on it. It's a G20 Shorty (180in long) with a 4.3L engine. The front end is excellent, compared to Ford van. Gas mileage ranges from 17 (city) to 20 (highway) at 65mph. Engine has been very reliable. A/C is a constant problem. The A/C compressor has been replaced twice in the last two years, and is broken again now. The factory jack is very clumsy to use.
G20 CHEVY VAN EXT.
MECHINICALLY SOUND WITH THE TRUSTY 350 C.I.D. AND RIDE QUALITY UNSURPASSED WITH FOUR CAPTAIN CHAIRS THAT RECLINE,AND REAR BENCH SEAT THAT TURNS INTO A DAYBED FOR THE WEARY. REFREASHMENTS ARE ARMS LENGTH AWAY WITH THE SUPPLIED ICE CHEST IN THE REAR ON THE EXT. MODELS AND CLOSETS PROVIDE ADDITIONAL STORAGE FOR EXTENDED TRIPS. HANDLING IS SOFT BUT PREDICTABLE.OVER ALL, A NICE VAN FOR FAMILY TRAVEL AND OUT OF TOWN TRIPS FOR ANYONE.

1993 5.8 G-30 extended cargo van
Needed to install poly bushings in sway bar and put poly air bags in front springs. Ride is superb now. T.P.S. went bad at 75,000 miles, caused high idle. Air conditioner compressor seized at 70,000 miles. That burned up the serpentine belt so no water pumping, alternator or power steering. Tore out and installed a bypass pulley and new belt. Exhaust fell off. Installed clamp on new from cat. converter. Trip counter gears stripped out, but odometer and counter are good. Very happy with van. 75,000 miles on it now and very dependable.

1993 Chevy G20 Sportvan
I have a 1993 G20 with a 5.7 liter V8. It has plenty of power, great mileage on the highway, and can haul just about anything. I bought it with 53,000 miles and now has 65,000 miles on it. I have had to do nothing to it but general maintenance. I am very pleased with it and hope to have it for years to come. It drives and runs like it is brand new.
Dependable, Comfortable Family Vehicle
Bought in Jan. 98 with 60,000 miles. Had been well maintained by original owner. It has been a dependable vehicle for us. At 90,000 did about $1200 worth of scheduled service work at dealership, otherwise, other than replacing rotors and brakes has been maintenance free. We have enjoyed its comfortable ride on long trips.
Buying used
I drove this vehicle from New England down to Florida and it was pretty dependable and fuel efficient (20+mpg/hwy) considering the size. However, it was under powered when climbing up hills. Overall, it's an excellent economical work horse when it's fully loaded.
Keep you wallet handy!!
Bought this conversion van with only 26,000 miles in 95. 80,000 on odometer and have replaced brakes every year since. Eats tires. Front end problems at every inspection except one year. Always started and shifted fine. Need to replace axle bearings ever year also. Made this van heavy duty but forgot the heavy duty parts. A/C finally went out but expected after 10 years. Totaled recently and glad!
Owner
