Excellent value, great gas mileage

Have had car for 3 months, plenty of city and highway driving - seems to be pretty well built. Gas mileage is incredible - even with A/C on - getting about 26 to 28 in the city with an Auto transmission. Car can do 80 MPH on highway with ease, complains a bit passing at that speed, but all in all, a decent ride for the money. Good job Chevy.

I have had my Aveo for about 3 months now and I think its great. I'm getting about 28MPG city. I sometimes have to haul large packages to UPS/DHL to ship and this car can handle just about anything. You can even put a 27" TV in the box in the front seat with no problem. I am very happy customer.

I hesitated for almost 2 years to buy our next economy car and I sure am glad that I did. Because the Aveo is a GM takeover project (from the Daewoo), it does not recieve the credit it deserves! The Japanese always recieve the Champions banner for their vehicles, but for the money, the Aveo is really an excellent choice. The engine is sufficient in power, but it would be nice if it did have maybe a few more ponies. But the vehicle overall is really a great bargain, in today's economy.

Totally amazed with Aveo's power, styling and comfort considering it’s an economy car, and very inexpensive. Would definitely recommend this car to anyone thinking of buying an economy vehicle. Once you master how to utilize the hold button on the automatic which I purchased, this car is awesome.

A lot of people laughed at me when I announced I was buying an Aveo. However, every single one of them instantly changed their minds the moment they sat down in this little car. It is amazingly roomy and provides a nice comfortable ride. Okay, so it's not a Cadillac, but it's not really meant to be either. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of head room in this little baby. Living in San Francisco where parking is a nightmare I appreciate owning a small good looking car that has the power to get up large hills, and can park just about anywhere. I'd recomend this car to just about anyone who needs basic point A to point B transportation.

This is a perky little car. It handles beautifully, the climate control is great, the CD player and speakers are wonderful. It is very roomy, and everything I need is within reach. There is nothing about it that I don't like.

I bought this car for my mom. She had a Neon before this car. This car was $1,000's cheaper and is a lot nicer. Good car for teenagers or the elderly. This car has a smooth and quiet ride.

I bought this car at the end of summer 2005. When I first saw it I thought it was very small on the outside. But once you get into the Aveo and drive it, you're suprised how much room there is. When i first drove it I was suprised with the spunk of the engine. The little thing is so fun to drive. I bought the LS sedan. I really think there should be more standard options in this Aveo. Like a better sound system, better speaker placement. I also think there needs to be more noise dampening. Road noise in this thing stinks. I will always be a Chevy fan first, but if they want to compete with Toyota and Honda I think there should be more options.

Great Car, Greater Value

Great little car, gas mileage is great and it looks sharp. Many compact cars may get higher ratings, and may score higher when compared but considering that the car only cost me $10,600 with the MP3 stereo as compared to many compacts costing twice that price its an awesome little car. I dont feel that you can acurately compare a $20,000 car to a $10,000 car so as for Consumer Reports they should compare apples to apples. I can say this I have 8800 miles on mine, it has had no repairs, gets great mileage and I would buy it over again given the need or chance.

I purchased my Aveo as a second car to commute to work in. I really like it the gas milage is pretty good. The little car rides great and is very comfortable. I have a PT Crusier and the Aveo is very similer in the sitting position. I love the bright spicy orange color, it stands out.

I love this car. Of all the vehicles I have owned, this is my favorite. My husband enjoys driving it so much, he plans to buy one for himself. It's a great scoot-around-town car. The gas mileage is terrific.

I did quite a bit of reseach before buying this car. I test drove literally 13 different cars of all competitors. I found this car to be the best of them all. I am a 6' tall guy, and I felt the least cramped in this car of them all! A lot of my freinds ragged on me for buying such a small car, especially since I could afford a lot bigger car, but after I took them for a ride, they were believers! This car is huge on the inside, can fit a ton in the trunk. After driving it for a few months, I do have a couple of complaints, but just minor. 1) Needs a center arm rest 2) Can be a beast to handle in high winds. Overall this is a great car, and I've driven a few, I reccomend!

I needed a car for travel as my job is 3hrs away. I sold my Geo with 248 thousand miles and it had great mileage. This was an inexspensive auto, and that's what I needed. After driving it for 3.5 months, I haven't had any problems with it. I'm very happy with the car all around. It handles very well driving through the mountains.

Rover, Chevette, Hornet, Fiat 600, Valnent, Mustang, I have ridden in all of them. This Aveo gives the best, most quiet drive in years. Best bang for the buck, especially if it is on sale at about $9k at the dealer.

Don't Buy It!

Like many people, I need an economical vehicle that will get me from point A to point B. This car is economical, but not very trustworthy. I would not buy it again. As it is, mine has less than 30,000 miles on it and is starting to do things such a new car should not do. It occasionally hesitates upon starting, it makes strange sounds when it is running, the gas light quit working, and it's rattling itself apart (the driver's side armrest rattles when driving). I don't trust the car any more and am looking into getting rid of it before the warranty runs out. Of course, it's not paid off and this car is worth nothing as a trade in. Bum deal! Don't fall for it like I did!

2005 Aveo engine problems

I bought this used as my very first car. I needed something cheap. Even after saving up for ages I still didn't have much to work with. The car had 85,000 miles on it and for the first 2 months I loved this thing so much. No issues aside from squeaky brakes that I was saving to get looked at and a rusty undercarriage. Then one day on my way to work it just dies in the middle of the road, engine was completely shot. They don't make engines for this model anymore, either. The timing belt had broken. I don't know much about cars or what a timing belt even was, but I had no way of knowing if I hadn't gotten the timing belt replaced immediately that I would be paying over half of what the car costs to repair it. Apparently it needs replaced every 50k miles. I could have saved myself a lot of heartbreak and uncertainty if I had gone with a different model without such a flimsy engine. Honestly, the engine is the last thing you want to go wrong with your car. Update: I decided it would cost more than the car is worth to replace the engine after the timing belt broke. Not sure if this is the original timing belt or if it broke prematurely. It sat for a couple months in my parking lot and is now so rusted on the bottom I could not even move the car when put in neutral. No car should rust that badly that fast. Seems like it was made as cheaply as possible. The frame was practically falling apart when we went to move it. I recommend everyone stay as far away as possible from this make and model.

Three years we have been driving this car. Its is hard to hold on the freeway with any kind of side wind. I can say that is is basic tranportation. Mileage is nothing to speak of. I wished I still had my Metro. It was a better car.

We bought this car new and it has been in the shop 6 times in under a year from issues with the clock, parking brake not holding car on hills even in park, Blower motor issues, suspension crunch problems in the front end, brake problems , do yourself a favor and stay away from this little time bomb, we traded it in last week with 10,000 mi on her and bought a new Cobalt LS Sedan, this car is so much nicer inside and it gets better mileage than the Aveo did, It has more power and a way better ride and the price was about the same as the Aveo

Overall not a bad car and rates well in its class but do the maintenance. Timing belt change at 60,000 miles. If it goes, the motor can not be repaired and must be replaced. When you make the change you need (must) also to change the pulleys and water pump. It is also very tinny and dents easy. Good gas mileage but is underpowered to achieve it.
