Used 2005 Chevrolet Aveo Consumer Reviews
Not too Shabby
This car is overall pretty dependable. I drive it to and from work everyday, regularly change the oil and haven't had any major issues up until now. Last night, was driving and heard a pop. I looked under the hood and it had sprayed coolant all over, starting from the passenger side near the air filter box. Turns out that a lot of Aveo owners have had the same issue. The factory thermostat housing is made of plastic and is held together with glue. Mine basically separated into two pieces right at the gasket. Options are buy an aluminum one for approx. $100.. ($91.78 plus tax from the dealer) or use plastic weld to glue it back together. By the way...parts are only carried by the dealer.
Poor handling on the highway;
We found it was hard to pass vehicles on the highway. The tachometer swings wildly and the car gets stuck in low gear, with drivers behind us giving us an annoyed look. The ABS of this car also gives problems when trying to slow down during an exit from the highway. It actually veered offroad into a collision. The car is too small to handle well in windy conditions. Overall, while some may like the head room and driver's seat, my old Toyota Corolla is way ahead of this car in terms of reliability and and highway handling.

Long term information
I have over 56,000 miles on my 5 spd hatchback. Love it. Absolutely no problems, never been in the shop. Ride is very smooth and controlled. Turns on a dime (18 ft turning circle). Lifetime average MPG is at 34.7, top was 44, lowest was 27, but only been below 30 MPG four times. Last 6 months overall average is 38.9 MPG. I can't believe the value I got with this purchase. Engine just purrs. Ride is quiet at 60-65 cruise speed (but I've been keeping it at 55 lately for better MPG). Acceleration is adequate for all my needs. Would by another without question. Fit and finish is supurb. Seat is comfortable for long drives. Plenty of room for backseat passengers.
this car is not reliable
we have had our car for about 3 mths and it has been in the shop all of the 3 mths except 3-4 weeks. the front end stays out of align and they can't fix it. they didn't offer to swap out or buy back, we had to ask for it. still haven't been taken care of. lets people know that all general motors is worried about is the money, not the satisfaction or safety of the buyer. i'll never buy another chevrolet as long as i live. someone needs to step up and make satisfaction happen and quit using excuses to stall the buyer.
My aveo
After months of looking online for my perfect car i finally found it in an aveo ls. The look of the car was the first thing that pulled me to it. It has a very foreign look about it, not like many cars u see in the united states. once u get past the looks many other things attracted me to this car. The most expensive model only priced out at alittle over 13,000 and alot of things u might consider options on others cars all came standard on this one. I am very happy with my purchase of this vehicale and would buy another one in a heart beat given i had the money.
