Lap of Luxury

I purchased my 1992 Deville in November of 2008 primarily to be a basic A to B car that I felt would be able to keep me safe during the winter driving months. I only paid $700 dollars for it, and to me it was the deal of the century. It was evident that the car started its life in Florida. The body was in excellent condition, and the interior had worn well for its age. The leather seats were very comfortable. More so than my sofa. The car was as smooth going over the road as an ocean liner, but the downside was that it took turns with all the agility of the Titanic. It was clear what market this car was engineered to satisfy, but even still I did enoy the feeling of riding on air.

Alive at 191,000 miles

I purchased my 1992 Cadillac DeVille on a lark in 1995 without research and was expecting to suffer from my rashness. However, this car has been a dream. It is attractive, classy, extremely comfortable, steady on the road and safe. I've had two accidents, one nearly totally the car, with no injuries (thank God). Regarding gas milage, thanks to the computer, I can monitor my driving style and easily get 21 mpg city - better than many new cars on the market. At 191,000 miles, the motor is in excellent shape with mainly routine maintenance for the 10 years I have owned the car. I want a new car now, but each time I look and compare it with what I have, and car payments, I just keep driving.

Very Reliable Car

This Sedan Deville has been nothing but good to me. I have taken it on multiple 2 to 3 trips and is my daily driver. It has had almost everything replaced on it but you have to realize that this car is 20 years old. With that being said, the car drives smooth with no real engine problems other than consumption of coolant, which is to be expected with older cars. Gas mileage is right around 16 in the city and 19 on the highway! Would recommend this car if in great to good condition!

My Dream Car became my Nightmare Car!

I thought I was going to enjoy this Cadillac; it has been a pain since I bought it. Paid $6000.00 cash, I have had to spend over $4000.00 for parts that normally don't go out on cars. 3 gas tanks, fuel pump, harmonic balancer, serpentine belt, new tires, new brakes and now brake booster going out after 1 month of having new brakes put on. I wish I had turned my head when I saw this one, I will never ever buy a Cadillac again. It looks great but it has to many major things wrong with it. I am really sadden with my Cadillac and very disappointed with it.

The Cadillac is the Car to have!

This car is the top of the line luxury with all of the best stuff in it. It is nicer than both my parents new cars! The only thing that is bad is that GM cheaped out on sum parts of the car. The paint is chipping away a little(it has been since 1995) and the chrome is pitted. Otherwise the car is amazing. The best car I have ever driven in!

This car has been very good to me in the 2 years I have owned it. Besides the normal repairs needed with this car (truck latch, power antenna, brakes, master cylinder, tune up etc.) it has been very reliable. As long as it is maintained, it will last a long time. My car has made the cross country trip more then once, and is still running strong at 160,000 miles. I still get many compliments on it today.

1992 Cadillac: Still reliable at 12

I inherited this from my late father- in-law. At first, I thought it was too big and that it would be costly to operate. I have been pleasantly surprised at the few repairs it has needed (brakes, thermostat, electric motor on power antenna and trunk lock; excellent gas mileage (20 mpg in the summer; but drops to 17 mpg with the heat on). Excellent traction on ice and snow. Still a smooth ride at 83,000 miles.

In general I'm satisfied with my DeVille, which now has 220,000 miles on it. You have to be willing to pay the price however. Repairs for this car have been frequent and costly. I have replaced everything but the engine and transmission. We're going for the second time around for the compressor/evaporator. As I say, nice car, but you need to have money to repair it. The car has been garaged most of the years that I have owned it.

This car, like all high gm cars is a real workhorse. I replaced the original Delco battery in '02, three years past its end date, [the only time it wouldn't start], and other than some loser trying to steal the car, which screwed up the security, I've never had it not start! I love a comfortable, pretty car. I despise those boxy mono cars that started proliferating in the early '80s. Sadly they became all the rage. I have to say wake up Detroit. We want nice looking cars. Certainly we don't want all these clones. I don't want it to be the '50s, [I love my traction control, esc, fwd, etc.], but in the 50's you could tell a Ford from a Chevy, you could've been blind and would know if a

I got this car from my grandma for my birthday. Let me tell you this car is the gift that just keeps on giving. When I first got this car I was like oh thanks grandma I might as well get rid of it now. After sitting down in its soft sofa like seat I gave it a try. It turns out this car is really nice and lasts a long time. It now has 194,456 miles on it and I have not had a single problem. I love this car.

GROOVY CADDY

I bought this car in 2016 for 400.00. It was a mother and Father -in- laws car so it was driven sparingly. It had 84,000 miles on it. I put 12,000 in 1 year. The only repair that I had which the owner told me about was an oil gasket and transmission line(small section) replaced. Both cost me a total of 400.00. Just had new tires put on and a state inspection(passed with flying colors). Cost a total of 435.00. The red leather is super comfortable and almost like new. All the lights in the cabin work. All windows, heact a/c work. Everything works.Trunk is clean and huge. The engine is powerful and the transmission shifts flawlessly. Original black paint and chrome is in excellent shape. There is absolutly no rust on the car. The only thing is the radio and antenna don't work. Common on this car. I'm hesitant to put an after market sound system in as I was told that it might screw up the digital dash which is working perfectly. The ride is very comfortable and cornering isn't that bad. You can't take corners going 65. Getting in and out is easy. I really like this car. With 96,000 miles on it I would like to keep it a bit longer. It doesn't have the safety features of the newer cars. That might be my only reason to sell it but I don't race my car any more since I'm 64.

My Caddy

We bought our Caddy a year and a half ago, it only had 64,000 miles on it. Now it is up to 80,000 and have not had to do much more than regular maintenance. We had to replace rear brake cylinders, the power steering line, and would like to replace the stereo system. The antenna no longer goes all the way back down & we only have one working speaker. Our mechanic has been hesitant to do a complete tune-up, so maybe taking it to a dealer would be a better idea.

This is my second Cadillac DeVille. My first one had 25x,000 miles on it, and things just started going out with it, so I sold it to the JUNK YARD. As it turns out, a young kid bought it and fixed the few things and is still driving it. WOW--what a car. BUT ON TO THIS CAR: it drives excellent so far, just like new. It has awesome acceleration. It realllly gets up and goes. I have yet to see a faster car!! I owned a newer Lincoln, but things go bad with those darn Ford products, so I went back to Caddy. Get many, many compliments on it. Very well-taken care of. Caddy owners are great!

car stops on mountain roads on dry pavement

Nathan Kugler, 07/11/2016

Car detects you are going around a curve at more than recommended speed on dry pavement and stops the car to zero mph - it shifts down slows the engine down and after you are at zero it lets you go again. Dangerous if someone is tailgating you and all of a sudden you are stopped without warning. Dangerous when there is no shoulder to pull off on when it does this. It does this going up or down the mountain. But this feature is turned on or off with a button behind the shift lever. When traction is turned off, this does not happen.

I bought the DeVille in 1999. It was 7 years old when purchased. The brakes, spark plugs and waterpump had to be replaced within the first 6 months. That's been 3 years ago. Other than oil changes every 3000 miles, the car has not cost me another dime and is a pure pleasure to drive.

Overall car performance, quality, and value rates excellent. Rear-seat leg room is a definite plus, making long trips with four passengers very comfortable. This is a great touring car. Repair and maintenance cost is fairly high, but frequency of repairs is low due to high reliability. If you are considering a fully equipped lower- end car, note that by the time you add all the options this car has standard onto a lower-end car, the price will be the same and you will not have a Cadillac.

Non smokers, empty nesters. Purchased our Caddy used from a local dealer in 1996. Used by myself a self-employed home business owner. Gently driven and well maintained. Dark Blue leather interior with no signs of wear on passenger and rear seats. Drivers seat has slight normal leather wear. All electronic's windows, seats, ect. work like new. New antenna just installed, raises and lowers from control panel. Car is exceptionally clean inside and out. Mechanically sound and reliable.

AVOID Cadillac products like the plague

PROS: Yah right CONS: 1. Stupid computer controlled climate control system that never kicks in right away while your freezing your butt off in minus degree weather. 2. Faulty parts abound, this thing literally falls apart and leaves on the side of the road stranded, one time on a -36 C night. 3. Unreliable, it's seen more miles behind a tow truck. 4. Only Cadillac can make a car that breaks while washing it. FAULTY seals let water into manifold $170.0 repair.
